Coach Cosgrove just announced via email that Colby will be pursuing in state game opportunities in the fall for the team. I think this is great news for the kids, especially the seniors. I hope it works.

For the student athlete who either needed an extra semester to graduate OR might be looking to pursue a masters, especially if they graduate early.................I pray they don't burn their last year of eligibility on a four or five game schedule. Blech!!

Umm-the 3 non-NESCAC football-playing schools in Maine are Husson, UNE, and Maine Maritime.  All three schools have full schedules for the fall at this point although I suppose some of those games could get cancelled if there is a COVID spike in the fall in New England . . .

Becker and Dean have already announced they are not participating in fall sports, so that's two open dates for Husson and one for UNE right there.

DIII NCAA announced that if a school plays less than 50% of scheduled games, then the athletes maintain their eligibility

Maine still has a 14 day quarantine order for visitors from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York.  As well as all residents who visit those states.  Frankly, Husson's schedule is at 0 currently.

Oh good! We're all looking forward to an enlightened, nuanced critique of Colby's offensive performance this autumn.

I guess some people can't help taking shots at others for no reason.

Article notes that Bobby Maimaron, along with many other Eph senior athletes, will be taking fall off.  The 2021 NESCAC season is gonna be crazy loaded, as I imagine this choice will be widespread throughout the league:

Nescac1, It will be interesting to get the full tally of Nescac athletes deferring. Williams put out a stat this week that 7% of the total student body elected to defer the fall semester. I'm sure a number of them are athletes. My son agonized over the decision but ultimately decided to defer. He wants a shot at a more normal senior year in 2021 if possible...including football.

Sorry your son (like everyone) is in this position.  There is no good option, alas, just less-bad ones.   But I think I'd make the same choice unless I already had something lined up post-grad which could not be deferred one year.  Hopefully he can make the most of his time away and enjoy a normal senior year.  The Ephs, certainly, are going to be a very fun team with, essentially, nearly five Raymond classes on hand (when before the most they've had was three).  But a long time to wait before then!

New to the thread but have been following/enjoying it since last fall. Hoping the league can work out a way for Spring football to work logistically ( locker rooms/trainers etc)but also feel for the kids ( my son included) who picked a Nescac school to play a spring sport as well. Hopefully they can sort it out and science allows the boys to play in the Spring.

Several (very!) early 2025 commitments for the Ephs:

Jonathan Velasquez, 6'0 275 OL, Cheshire Academy
Ian McCarron, 5'11 185 S, BC High
Alec Washecka, 6'3 265 OL, Darien
Luke Bobo, 6'0 180 QB, Belmont Hill

BC High, along with Duxbury, continues to be a major feeder for Coach Raymond's program ... the three BC High players currently on the roster are three of the biggest talents in NESCAC, so hopefully McCarron will continue in that tradition.  The Ephs also have a strong connection with Darien.

Some of the players at Colby too have decided to take the semester off, if not the entire year. Sign of the times with uncertainty about the entire college experience in today's world.
