Sadly, I posted 2 weeks ago that Coach Hall was being let go.
I know he was shocked by the move but it is fact. If you ever met Coach Hall you would like him. Very positive, upbeat guy.
Not a lot in the way details beyond that at this point.

Coach Ed Argast who has a strong resume with D1 experience will call the shots in the interim. OC Patterson will run the offense.
QB Brendan Costa will surprise the NESCAC if the OL can give the "Garnet Cannon" some space.

It's certainly been a weird summer for NESCAC coaching changes, between Amherst lacrosse, Williams soccer, and Bates football, three sudden, high-profile exits without much - if any - explanation from the schools involved ...

Boy....August is just around the corner and there is very little info on football recruits/players reporting on campuses.  Amherst's running back coach has left and joined the Middlebury's staff.  Amherst's website cameras' have gone off too.  Oh well....made my room reservations for Homecoming.  Hope to have two of my children's families join me in the stands for the Williams game...weather permitting.  Williams crushed Amherst in the last encounter....Amherst's website has not taken the score off...maybe for motivation purposes?  My wife sits in the class tent with friends and warm food/drinks available or goes shopping with our granddaughter.  Did I mention my wife is a very practical person :)....maybe smarter too ;D

Greetings to my fellow NESCAC posters....NESCACMAN reporting for duty! Miss me???  ;D

I hope everyone is safe, healthy and ready for the fall (even you HS8-o)!

Are you ready for some football?!?

I've been ready for some NESCAC football since it was canceled back in July, 2020 NESCACMAN

Aren't we all John Bs (which is by the way one of the best all time NESCAC bars....far better than the Purple Pub, for the record)!!!

Great screen name btw!!!

With NECACMAN re emerging we are definitely on the track to normality. A good sign.

Amen Lumber! Do not fear, we have been observing from afar and will have comments on year that wasn't shortly....HCOF Malik's demise, Hammertime's barage of "offers" to play for the Polars, HS's new Poop (sorry, Coop), Colby stepping up to D1, etc....

Nescacman....promises, promises ;).  Glad you have returned for a season that imho will be most revealing and interesting.

I understand that with its horde of D! recruits Colby is considering seeking membership in the SEC.  There is a snag though.  Knowing that you don't like bovine mascots, Texas is not willing to give up Bevo the Longhorn as a mascot.  LSU is unwilling to rename the "Cow Place" arena.  Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and Auburn have major programs pertaining to large animals, so you may not have enough votes for admission.

Don't give up.  The Big 10 is looking for new members and there are no bovine mascots.  Maryland does have turtles, but you like those better than cows.

Things are definitely moving in the right direction, thanks for leaving the biblical prophesies out this time.

Looks like there is plenty of room in the Big 12 for the Mules of the North, although the C-B-B with Hammertime and Coach Oldsgrove may be better than what's left of the Big 12 at this point (even given the demise of HCOF Malik and UBates version of the air raid O)...btw, the early over/under on the combined score of MID, Ephs, Wes, Hartford State v. UBATES-Lewiston Campus is 200-0...any takers on some early action NESCACers?!?

nescac1

I will boldly take the over and predict that Bates will score at least two points in those four games combined.  I will also take the under as Bates will hold those teams to less than 50 per.

amh63

"Gentlemen"...Nescac posters should not take bets here.  It is not "proper",imho.  Just let the games play....and roll the dice!

I'm sure Nescacman has far more knowledge of who is and who is not coming back, but my rough sense of the league this year is something like this:

Williams, Trinity, Wesleyan and Middlebury -- absolutely loaded with veteran talent, including very experienced and talented returning QBs, the top tier of contenders; there will be some real wars among these four teams (yes, Trinity was well behind these three in 2019, but there is just too much talent on hand for the Bants to stay down).

Tufts, Colby, Amherst -- the middle tier of the league, but any of them could beat any of the top four on any given day, and certainly, it would not be surprising for any (especially Tufts, who should be much improved, or Amherst, who almost never has two down years in a row but has big ??? at WR and QB) to finish in the top 3.  By including Colby here, I'm assuming that all the hype about the last two years of Cosgrove recruiting will prove to be justified.

Hamilton -- definitely better than the bottom two but significantly behind the middle tier

Bowdoin, Bates -- most likely gonna be a long year
