That may help explain the paucity of PA recruits.  Who wants to ball out in a foreign country where the natives not only talk funny but the food sucks?
There's some pretty good pizza in Connecticut.

Come on Bantam....we all know the best pizza in CT is APIZZZA and the best spot is Roseland in Derby!

It seems that literally the only thing everyone on this board can agree upon is a love for Philly cheesesteaks.  Now I have to try Jim's!

Eph1, Jim's is definitely better than Fetter and a step or two below Maimaron...

I guess we can't agree on everything though... while Roseland is the best in "The Valley", Modern Apizza on State Street in New Haven is the best pizza in Connecticut, and therefore, the world.

Yikes -- hopefully you've been to others besides the tourist traps of Pat's and Geno's!

(Don't tell anyone -- best Philly cheesesteak I ever had was at a place in Chester, Pa., not far from Widener.)

Best Philly Cheesesteak in Philly is Jim's, hands down....there is just something about ordering from an ex-con who killed his family 30 years ago....can't believe Hs5-4 (Matt) and I agree for the second time this season...unprecedented!

Best Philly Cheesesteak outside of Philly is A&LP in North Wildwood, NJ (Philly South)....

Seems like Nescacman and I agree on at least two things. We both love the Giants and Jim's. Definitely agree that Jim's makes the best Cheesesteaks (although at this point it's been so long since I've tried any place else). And the ambiance really is great. Nescac1 (also a Giants fan), you should definitely check it out!

Jim's is the best...the ambiance between the ex-cons that work there and the place just being grungy enough to be almost gross, really adds to the quality of the food...

And we agree on one more thing....a supreme distaste for college team's that play in Williamstown...

And to take this to the next level....our two favorite clam shacks are Bob's in Kittery and Moby Dicks's in Wellfleet...

lumbercat

Now you are in my wheelhouse Nescacman in that neck of the woods.

Bobs is convenient a tourist trap in Kittery which is ok for fried clams.
For claims you're going to Ipswich, Ma on the North Shore.- 2 100 year old places close each other. Farnhams and Woodmans. Each with their own style of Fried Clams- the best anyplace.

For Lobster Rolls its Red's in Wiscasset, Me. For Maine lobster and steamers it's the Lobster Pound in Ogunquit,Me. The best Lobster Stew on the planet can be found at Mike's Clam Shack in Wells, Me.

Geez- one mention of food joints sets off 4 board pages-Common ground I guess! NESCAC Foodies.

More +k's on the food chat over the last day than we received over the last 2 years...

Been to several of those places Lumber...Lobster Pound and Mike's....all great...

Never responded to the best pizza on the planet comment....that award would have to go to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn...

Best pre-game breakfast in the NESCAC....by far O'Rourke's in Middletown followed by Sugar & Spice in Mendon VT....

Truth!  But beware; I've never been there that the wait to even get to the counter was less than an hour.  But well worth it - each lobster roll has MORE than a pound of lobster meat!

I was born and raised in Peoria IL (dad couldn't find work as an electrical engineer in Maine, and spent his whole career at Caterpillar), and have now lived in Michigan for over 50 years.  But my dad's family was in Maine for well over 100 years, and we went to a family built and owned cottage on Sabbathday Lake nearly every summer of my childhood, and still went to Maine regularly until a very few years ago. (Mom was from Iowa, but went to U of Maine in the thirties - her (much) older brother was a professor there, and she couldn't afford to go to college anywhere else - she got room and board in exchange for housekeeping and child care.  She and dad met in Orono, and thus here I am! ;D  (Mrs. Y and I spent our honeymoon in Maine.)

Thats a classic American story My Ypsi of your great family in a quick post- so good.
Did you follow Maine Football back in the day?

Yes Mr Ypsi- Reds is one of those overrated  attractions when it dawns on you that the locals don't have a lot of other things to focus on.

Good input from N1.
In terms of Brunch I may get dissed on this one but Bates Commons does a fantastic job on gamedays for embarrassing short money- Eggs and omelets cooked to order, bacon, pancakes, flatbread pizzas---- really good. After you finish Brunch, take a couple of steps out of Commons and you're positioned for the game on Garcelon.

No discussion of bugs is complete without a moment of silence for the best lobster rolls in the universe, at the (now-shuttered) Libby's in Brunswick.  The owner's husband was a lobsterman, and the lobsters were fresh, boiled to order and warm when placed in the bun.  So good that PolarKitten would bring home a cooler full when she'd come home on break.

As for lumber, he's a thrifty New Englander.  He used to stop by my tent in the tailgate for FREE Bloody Mary's, before heading to the dining hall for the CHEAP brunch.  Sort of the blue plate special for Boomer NESCAC fans.

Best tailgate dessert in Maine could be found at Grant's Bakery in The Dirty Lew - truly exceptional whoopie pies.
