NESCAC...MEN.   YOU'll and I know the answer!  Yes!  Sooner than you'll think ;D
The DARP will have a smile on his face.  Have seen both coaches on the field and I in the stands.   Their  players love to play for them.

I saw the Tufts kid nail a 35 yarder that would have been good from 45 earlier in the day so there is some ability there.

First, anyone who lays blame at the foot of a kicker don't know squat about special teams.  As lumber knows well from his own career, all three members of the unit need to perform.  Noobs lay all the blame on the K when more often than not the issue is with the long snapper or the holder.  A terrific way to judge a unit is to clock their execution time.

Second, unless this particular malcontent is the same guy who railed incessantly on the Colby staff because his son never got to start at QB, this sounds like more than just a parent.  I'm thinking a guy who is wagering too heavily on the Bos and can't afford the losses he's taking?

Since we're all allowed our opinions, that's mine.

Also, can we take a minute to acknowledge how absurd Spencer Fetter has been?

He also has one of the sweetest 'staches in the NESCAC!

Awesome '80's pornstar stash.  What's truly absurd is he hasn't been cancelled by the NESCAC Karen's yet.

This QB is legit. Is he a Junior But still has the option year so he has two years after this year ?

Hey Charlie, then maybe you've noticed its a different kicker now....Bates kicker missed 2 Pats and a fg Sat.....some blocked some not..on him? prob not entirely so once again stop the kicker chirping until u know the facts fellas.

SpringSt7

Apologies if I'm missing something here but is pointing out how a coach factoring his kickers' performances into his decision making bashing the kicker? If you have to call certain plays because your kicker only has range out to X amount of yards or he's only making X% of his kicks, that's not kicker bashing. That's coaching.

BUT, I hear the NESCAC AOC's want to tax him given his porn star earnings. Let's start at, hmmmm, 91%........and go from there.

I was not speaking of the Bates game I was at the Williams game. Lets be clear when a kicker line drives a kick into the lineman butt you do not have to be a Special teams Coach to understand there is a problem. Furthermore I am sure this would not be the first time the player has done this. I am not bashing the player he is trying his best. What I am saying is that in this aggressive recruitment for football you would think that a Coach would have punted and Kicker solidified. I totally get kickers will miss some just look at the NFL this past weekend. But when your kicker launches two into the lineman butts on extra points at what point do you say this experiment did not work out. Those points cost Tufts the game against Williams. So I do get it I m not kicker bashing these kids are trying there best. I was at the game so I know the facts I was not at the Bates Game.

BigKat

Fair enough Charlie.....D making a stop in overtime also wins game too so plenty of blame to go around...that kicker isn't kicking anymore and my point is there are times when misses are on the kicker and there are times that they literally had no chance due to a breakdown elsewhere. btw their punter is very good...

lets move on....

We've seen other pics of Hartford State players this year and it seems that most (all?) of the team might be trying out for the sequel to "Boogie Nights"....by the far the best thing Hartford State has done in years...on or off the field...

I really think the NESCAC league as a whole with all the kids playing instruments need to bring back bands for football games. Tufts had one at their first game against Williams. But I really think it adds to the game time feel. The ones that are televised on Saturday's you cant tell me brings a certain flair to the game. Okay so they do not have to do the fancy marching on the field at halftime if they dont want to but at least have the band in the stands like Tufts.

I was surprised the upper echelon teams do not incorporate this into their games

I couldn't agree more. Bands always add to the atmosphere. There's no band at Trinity but recently (within the last 2 or 3 years) they did invite the middle school band from the magnet school across Broad Street to play at one (or possibly two) games a year. I loved it and it's great community engagement as well.

2021 NESCACMAN Weekly Power Rankings-Week 4

10 things we learned in Week #4:

1. Congratulations UBates on their first win. For their effort the last two weeks, they are our biggest mover in the polls this week.
2. League is a mess below the top 4 teams. Big drop-off from Top 4 to #5.
3. Teams who are still playing their opening day starting QB: Hartford State, Ephs, Wes, Colby, UBates. Combined record: 14-6.
4. Teams who are not playing their opening day starting QB: Jumbo's (injury related), Bowdoin (performance related), Middlebury (injury), Amhurst (performance), Hamilton (performance). Combined record: 6-14.
5. The injury parade continues around the league. Key injuries abound..Jernigan, Simco, Eden, et al...
6. Colby lack of offensive performance is surprising, especially given they have an experienced, decent QB at the helm...problem we see there is that they have no running game.
7. Can Amhurst ride their defense to a Little 3 and league title?
8. Jumbo's off to their worst start since they went 0-8 in 2013.
9. We will have a a new league champ in 2021 with 3 4-0 and 1 3-1 team in contention.
10. Looks like Bowdoin might have found themselves a QB (shocking!).

1). (Tie) TTUN (2021 Record: 4-0; Last Week Rank: 1): Another win; never easy to win against a Maine team at home (ha-ha)......Ranked 1st in scoring O, scoring D, 1st ranked rushing attack...+3 in turnovers...have only thrown 87 passes in 4 games...2 games until the big game vs. Hartford State...next up: @ Hamilton

1). (Tie) Hartford State (2021 Record: 4-0; LW Rank: 3): Certain posters will be happy with this one...1st in total O, total D, passing O...lead 'CAC with 15 sacks for...6th in rushing offense and only averaging 3.1 yards per carry...next up: vs. UBates

3). Wesleyan (2021 Record: 4-0; LW Rank: 1): Cardiac Cards strike again...Wes wins on last drive of the game...longest winning streak in the NESCAC right now (7 games)...offense starting to get it going (27 or more points in last 3 games)...Wes 1st in rushing D, interceptions (6) and turnover ratio (+8)...QBs have thrown 13 TDs (tied for most in the league) and have not throw an INT yet...last in passing D....next up: @ Tufts

4). Amhurst (2021 Record: 3-1; LW Rank: 4): Lord Mammoths winning with very good defense and good enough offense...2nd in 'CAC in rushing O, last in passing O...Pass D is last in the league...-3 in turnover ratio...2-5 on FGs...next up: @ Bowdoin

5). Middlebury (2021 Record: 1-3; LW Rank: 5): Not to repeat ourselves but another loss for the Pants which eliminates them from repeating as NESCAC Champs...still lead league in sacks allowed with 17...MID is 8th in total offense and 9th in passing offense...still last in passing efficiency and only 4 passing TDs in 4 games...11 turnovers are last in the league (9 INTs thrown)...missed QB Jernigan last week...next up: @ Colby

6). University of Bates (Lewiston Campus)(2021 Record: 1-3; LW Rank: 9): Played well the last 2 weeks beating the Jumbo's and giving Wes a run for their money...middle of the pack in most categories although their passing offense has been good with Costa at the controls...not great running the ball (8th in the league)...great at returning kicks...too many INTs (8)...we suspect that is Costa just trying to do too much...have only allowed 4 sacks....last in league at 3rd down conversion...last in league in penalties by a long shot...next up: @ Hartford State

7). Tufts (2021 Record: 0-4; LW Rank: 6): Another surprising loss...looks like they have found another QB in Berlutti (yes, another Berlutti...this one following in dads footsteps at Tufts)...9th in total D, last in scoring D and last in rushing D...only 3 sacks by them...next up: vs. Wesleyan

8). Hamilton (2021 Record: 2-2; LW Rank: 7): Back to reality against Hartford State...9th in total O, last in total D, 9th in rushing D, 9th in passing D...9th in rushing O...only 3 sacks and 2 INTs for them...next up: vs. Ephs

9). Colby (2021 Record: 1-3; LW Rank: 8): Bad loss against the Ephs...season started out so promising for the Mules...anemic offense (3 TDs in 4 games)...can't run the ball 48.2 yards per game (233 out of 240 teams in NCAA D3)...defense has played OK...more than 80% of their total offensive yards have come via the pass......next up: vs. Middlebury

10). Bowdoin (2021 Record: 0-4; LW Rank: 10): Congratulations to QB Boel on winning OPOTW...if RB Eden is hurt, they are in trouble (leads the 'CAC in rushing)...Polars are last in turnover ratio at -6...have allowed 11 TD passes...next up: vs. Lord Mammoths

After reading this board the past year or so I figured Colby would be 4-0 by now.  Is Cosgrove gone after this year or is he getting a long leash like Aaron Kelton did?
