Trin8-0 ... I am really sorry to hear that.  There are so few folks on this site that to lose a regular contributor is a loss to all of us.   I certainly hope that over time you will consider rejoining as a contributor.   We are going to miss your posts!

Lumber, here are some more facts for you to reinforce what a poor coaching job Dice has done. His record is 36-14. A miserable .720 winning percentage. Imagine if he was actually organized and could maintain control on game day.

Your Great Triumverate for that same period is 10-40. Right at .200, pretty solid. Since 1992 the Bobcats are 51-183. Amazing history of hall of famers. Nothing like averaging less than 2 wins a year.

FYI, Dice is the all-time winningest HCOF in Wesleyan history (by winning percentage-min 40 games coached)...

And Whales is the second winningest coach (by winning percentage-min 40 games coached) in Ephs history and third winningest coach in Wes history....just interesting, we thought...

BTW, that doesn't count the undefeated Eph 2010 season going on HCOF Kelton's ledger, which of course, those in the know, know those were all Whales recruits and anyone of us could have coached that team to an 8-0 record...

Not taking a shot at Argast being out, actually gave him a get well soon earlier. That is your hypersensitivity. You throw other coaches under the bus but cannot objectively evaluate the dysfunction in your own program? Whatever

Mole-

I don't believe the program is in dysfunction because of Coach Argast's compromised mobility or being "sidelined" as you put it.
"Dysfunctional" .......You're digging yourself deeper after an unnecessary, classless comment.  Oh, but I forgot, you sent him a "get well soon". Very kind of you.

I'm not going to rip a guy who took on a very difficult situation and has been in the position for a little more than 3 months. Under the circumstances he's done a great job holding things together throughout the program and positioning to restart the re build.
He been a stabilizing force throughout and very effective in that role while putting a team on the field that could be 4-3. Thats not great but it's better than anyone expected when Malik left in late July.

Dysfunctional ? ......No.

The Mole

I will not belabor this with you anymore. You take it how you want. But, take a shot at my coach, be prepared for the return volley. I'll let the numbers and data tell the coaching success.

Argast did manage to beat NESCACMAN's Bates vs. Trinity/Williams/Wesleyan/Midd 180 point parlay by 88 points (in fact the worst loss of the four wasn't even by an average of 45 points), so he wildly exceeded at least those expectations ...

I'd suggest you read my post again. I did not say Dice has done a poor coaching job at Wesleyan at all. His record speaks for itself.

I said I watched 3 coaches pretty closely on the sidelines this year and I gave my observations. I said Wes sideline that day seemed a little frenetic and unorganized especially in shuffling the 2 QBs. I contrasted that with Amherst and Williams observations in other games this year.

Never said Dice has done a poor coaching job at Wes. I think you jumped the gun on that given your hypersensitivity, but whatever.
Maybe the performance of the Bates team that day was the cause for the panicky look on the Wes sidelines.

We don't want to jump into the middle of this but just want to make 2 points....

1. Wesleyan's offense in the post-Piccarillo era the last 2 years has been a "2 QB system", alternating between #7 Ashton Scott and #8 David Estevez...who is used more or less in a particular game depends on many factors including the opponents defensive strengths/weaknesses, weather, injury, who has the "hot hand", etc....#8 has played a bit more at QB this year, as opposed to 2019, due to Scott being banged up at times (100% healthy now)...the beauty is, because they are both highly skilled student-athletes, they can both be on the field at the same time and be involved in the offense (a real luxury in the NESCAC when some teams don't even have one real QB)....as many of you know, Wes is not at all unique in running this style of offense....Princeton has run a similar offense for years and we believe Dartmouth also runs a similar offense...of course, there are others...so no panic, the QB "shuffling" is by design...

2. We were at the UBates game (btw, one of the best game day atmosphere's in the NESCAC year after year...they do a nice job of taking care of both the home AND away fans) and observed what you saw...our recollection was there were an unusual number of key injuries that day so what you might have seen was some "coaching" (not panic) to figure out how to shuffle players around...we also recall some pretty long returns on special teams for the 'Cats that day so we observed some "coaching" to deal with that situation as well....

Every coach and coaching staff has a different style and culture and we believe that is what you were observing...not panic and confusion...

NM
Very fair.  One day, one game with the Cards dealing with a Bates team that was much better than they expected. More alarm on the part of Wes with what looked to be confusion as compared with Williams and Amherst in other games. Just calling it the way I saw it.

Didn't say it made your guy a bad coach.

I understand the Mole's hypersensitive reaction to this as you guys love and respect your HC.

SayItAintSoJoe

We are headed out to TTUN for the end of a truly amazing experience of our ride through the NESCAC (Not withstanding the COVID BS).

First, it has been a great pleasure flowing this group for for the past 5 years...You all have provided such great information and entertainment. Being a WC family, our exposure to NESCAC's was nil.  rI have as fly on the wall soaked in this Board's wisdom.

So all I can offer a big thanks and look forward to checking now and again as our family have become life long fans.....

Second, as we all have come to appreciate just how special and utterly frustrating the NESCAC is with TIPS and roster caps and playoffs - lack of.

All I can hope for is that football endures the health concerns and wokeism onslaught we seem to being drowned in....

Fun Fact: Much of the Princeton 2 QB offense was installed and run by former Eph QB Sean Gleeson, who is now the OC at Rutgers.

Former CAC Coach

Not so fast, my friend....In reality, the multi QB sets were implemented by Gleeson's former boss -  OC James Perry - who is now the HCOF at Brown University...it was Perry's innovation that Gleeson helped execute as an assistant coach.

Sure enough, Gleeson continued the sets after Perry departed for his first HCOF job at Bryant College

and, in fact, had sets with 3 QBs on the field at the same time....

Let's face facts. Offensive schemes and who is or is not playing QB. If Williams handles the Line of scrimmage like they did against Trinity this is going to be a real long afternoon for Wesleyan. Williams same scheme applies. If the front three for Williams DL can dominate the line and put on a pass rush with three men and an occasional blitz it is going to be Ugly. Conversely if Williams OL dominates the trenches they will win not by as much against Trinity but will be big. Wesleyan DL is not better then Trinity and look what happened. Williams makes teams one dimensional.

In order for Wesleyan to stay competitive Dicenzo will have to give one hell of a speech and get these pumped up. I just do not beleive Wesleyan will be able to withstand 4 quarters of physicality.

Hope I didn't give off the impression that I thought Gleeson invented the 2QB scheme.

As for Williams and Wesleyan up front, Williams certainly has the advantage. But I don't know that Trinity's DL is better than Wesleyan's as it pertains to this game. Who does Trinity have in the middle that is anywhere near as good as Nick Helbig? He's going to be positioned where Williams wants to run the ball on most plays and it does not take much to disrupt a running game if you are getting a great push from your NT. Go watch Georgia and Jordan Davis.
