The Fetter yards per attempt numbers clinch it - he's having the best statistical passing year of any Nescac QB, ever.  The only reason he WOULDN'T be POY is because an enormously talented. dual-threat player like Maimaron is also having a great statistical year and has led his team to a (so far) better record, playing a unique style that makes him just as hard, if not harder, to defend. But the idea that someone who is 80 percent of a bad offense like Costa is better than someone who is 65 percent (or whatever it is) of an absolutely elite offense is kind of ridiculous I think.  I think Hooks has a much better argument for individual honors than Costa, honestly.

Maybe because his team has been just OK or maybe because the Trinity guys get so much hype, but it seems like Lutz is having the least-noticed 1000 yard receiving season in Nescac history - and there haven't been very many.  He's 200 yards from the single-season record - not unthinkable he could get close.

Something has to be said for a guy who is carrying the whole program on his back and making so many big plays. Very diificult situation. I can only imagine how Costa would perform in one of the top programs although a moot point.

I wonder what happened to the younger Berluti in terms of not going to Amherst as his brothers did?  Any insight?

His Dad went and played at Tufts. And yes injuries have him handling some of the punting duties.
What's the unofficial line on the Williams/Amherst game? Feels like it should be at least 20points?

I know it is minor did anyone else notice that the live feed for Williams was weird. A freind of mine was at the game. He said if he were guessing around 3 to 4,000 perople at the game and the Live feed never panned the stands at all or mentioned the crowd. From the viwers stand point it looked as if there was 20 people at the game. You only saw the Wesleyan side. i know thats the angle but tghought they should have mentioned the crowd let alone panned a few times on the crowd

Charlie, go back to our thoughts on the game several days ago...we estimated the crowd as proabably being in the 4-5,000 range, not 1,500 as "officially" listed in the box score...

The official NESCACMAN spread will, of course, be released tomorrow (Vegas forbids us from releasing prior to Friday), however, we can give you an indication that it will probably be north of the 20 point mark (assuming Maimaron is OK to play)....even with the Purple Cows on the road...

We are thankful to the league HCOFs who were gracious enough several years ago to give the NESCACMAN consortium a "voice of the fan" unofficial vote for the league awards...we have not yet decided who we will cast our final votes for...this weekend is key...appreciate suggestions...

Forgive my ignorance, is there a DROY and OROY award or just one overall?

Yes Mole, separate DROY and OROY awards...

Lutz is having the quietest 1000 yard season since Frank Roche!

Anyways, last thing with Bates---if they had two POYs in Costa and Hooks, again, they wouldn't be 2-6.

Interesting that Stola's little brother is with MID....did the older Stola have a bad experience with the Ephs and the younger brother didn't want any part of it? That's probably what happened...sorry Frank did not enjoy his time with the Purple Cows...at least he got a decent education...

We would say both probably won't win POY, but definitely one will...  ;D

Surprised none of the Eph Mafia have discussed that at least part (major part?) of their 2021 success on offense is due to the hiring of Dan Hunt as RB/TE Coach after a very successful run as HCOF at Colgate...we believe he deserves a ton of credit for the Purple Cows stellar offensive results in 2021...the Ephs were fortunate to bring him on-board after he left Colgate in the Spring to "address personal issues, following the discovery of violation of university policy not involving students." We've heard rumors but won't go there...in any event, credit where credit is due...here is some of his bio for those not familiar with Coach Hunt's pretty impressive resume (at a high academic University, albeit nowhere as good as TTUN, of course):

"Dan Hunt joins the staff after a successful run leading the Colgate Red Raiders. Hunt already is mentioned in the company of Colgate coaching legends. He held the endowed coaching position of the Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach and he just won his third Patriot League Coach of the Year Award, an award recently named for one of his mentors, Coach Dick Biddle.

Colgate wrapped up its 10th PatriotLeague title in 2018 with a 41-0 whitewash at Fordham and its sixth perfect record in conference with a 48-6
triumph at Lehigh. The Raiders outscored their 2018 Patriot League competition 223-26, or by an average of 37-4, and they carry an 11-game conference winning streak into 2019. Hunt was 24-6 against the Patriot League. The Raiders in 2018 placed a program-record six players on All-America teams, led by T.J. Holl, James Holland Jr., and Nick Wheeler earning placement on
the 2018 AFCA All-America First Team. Colgate earned three first-team selections in the same year for the first time since 1916, and Colgate in 2018 was the only program in the nation with three on the first team.

The 2018 campaign was one for the history books: Colgate went 10-2, earning the fourth 10-win season in program history; won the Patriot League at 6-0 for its 10th conference title; led the nation in scoring defense, total defense and pass efficiency defense; tied an FCS record with five shutouts; earned the Patriot League's first top-eight seed in the NCAA playoffs; hosted a playoff game for the first time since 2003; advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second time in four years."

You wonder if he would be the kind of guy UBates would reach out to for their upcoming HCOF opening? Seems like the perfect fit to us...he's definitely not ready to retire like HCOF Cos or Coach Siedlicki...

I mentioned Hunt when talking about the Eph staff last week but you're right in that it definitely did not get its deserved due in the spotlight. I'd give him a little more credit for the offense if the offense didn't rank 1st in the conference in total yardage in 2019 (414.6 YPG) while it ranks 3rd (408.6 YPG) this year. Yes they are 1st in the conference in points scored but their 6.6 yards per play in 2019 was eye popping.

Funny that for all the talk about how good this Williams team is, you could very easily make the argument that they were better in 2019, when they had experienced seniors all over the field (6 of whom were all league guys), a fully weaponized and absolutely terrifying Frank Stola, and a fully healthy Jarrett Wesner. The only difference between that team and this team was laying a Week 1 dud offensively @ Middlebury and not getting off the field when they needed stops against the aforementioned Midd and then against Wesleyan.

With all due respect, the 2021 team is better primarily because of the improved offensive line, awesome defense and better specials, IOO.

After this week, add up the scores against the other 3 winning teams (after they destroy Lord Jeffrey Saturday) in '21 v. '19 and you will see a vast difference...

Let's remember the level of comp in '19 v. '21 looking at their three final games...Lord Jeff is basically the same...Wes was maybe slightly better in '19...Hartford State is much better in '21....so we would say that overall, the level of the comp overall is better in '21 and so far they have outscored 2 of the 3 teams by 67-3...

I know that I what I was referring to is why the TV crews do not show the crowd for these games. My friend at that game said great atmosphere at the game and it was televised like a golf tournament.
