Surprised none of the Eph Mafia have discussed that at least part (major part?) of their 2021 success on offense is due to the hiring of Dan Hunt as RB/TE Coach after a very successful run as HCOF at Colgate...we believe he deserves a ton of credit for the Purple Cows stellar offensive results in 2021...the Ephs were fortunate to bring him on-board after he left Colgate in the Spring to "address personal issues, following the discovery of violation of university policy not involving students." We've heard rumors but won't go there...in any event, credit where credit is due...here is some of his bio for those not familiar with Coach Hunt's pretty impressive resume (at a high academic University, albeit nowhere as good as TTUN, of course):

"Dan Hunt joins the staff after a successful run leading the Colgate Red Raiders. Hunt already is mentioned in the company of Colgate coaching legends. He held the endowed coaching position of the Fred '50 and Marilyn Dunlap Head Football Coach and he just won his third Patriot League Coach of the Year Award, an award recently named for one of his mentors, Coach Dick Biddle.

Colgate wrapped up its 10th PatriotLeague title in 2018 with a 41-0 whitewash at Fordham and its sixth perfect record in conference with a 48-6
triumph at Lehigh. The Raiders outscored their 2018 Patriot League competition 223-26, or by an average of 37-4, and they carry an 11-game conference winning streak into 2019. Hunt was 24-6 against the Patriot League. The Raiders in 2018 placed a program-record six players on All-America teams, led by T.J. Holl, James Holland Jr., and Nick Wheeler earning placement on
the 2018 AFCA All-America First Team. Colgate earned three first-team selections in the same year for the first time since 1916, and Colgate in 2018 was the only program in the nation with three on the first team.

The 2018 campaign was one for the history books: Colgate went 10-2, earning the fourth 10-win season in program history; won the Patriot League at 6-0 for its 10th conference title; led the nation in scoring defense, total defense and pass efficiency defense; tied an FCS record with five shutouts; earned the Patriot League's first top-eight seed in the NCAA playoffs; hosted a playoff game for the first time since 2003; advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals for the second time in four years."

You wonder if he would be the kind of guy UBates would reach out to for their upcoming HCOF opening? Seems like the perfect fit to us...he's definitely not ready to retire like HCOF Cos or Coach Siedlicki...

Yes, N-man, you ask the boys and they will tell you Coach Hunt has made a very positive difference on the Eph's O. Coach Blu stepping into the OC role was the real difference maker though.

Blumeanaur would be a very smart hire by Bates.

His Dad went and played at Tufts. And yes injuries have him handling some of the punting duties.
What's the unofficial line on the Williams/Amherst game? Feels like it should be at least 20points?

I know it is minor did anyone else notice that the live feed for Williams was weird. A freind of mine was at the game. He said if he were guessing around 3 to 4,000 perople at the game and the Live feed never panned the stands at all or mentioned the crowd. From the viwers stand point it looked as if there was 20 people at the game. You only saw the Wesleyan side. i know thats the angle but tghought they should have mentioned the crowd let alone panned a few times on the crowd

Charlie, go back to our thoughts on the game several days ago...we estimated the crowd as proabably being in the 4-5,000 range, not 1,500 as "officially" listed in the box score...

I know that I what I was referring to is why the TV crews do not show the crowd for these games. My friend at that game said great atmosphere at the game and it was televised like a golf tournament.

Charlie, this seems to be an on-going issue with you...please remember, with all due respect, this is D3 football...most games are "broadcast" with 1 or 2 cameras max (unless it is a NESN game) with no instant replay and the bare minimum in terms of graphics...think of these "broadcasts" more along the lines of a webcast...yes, these schools have the $$$ to do better; no, they won't do any better because it is not a priority for them (unless some deep pocketed alum or parent comes along and is willing to foot the bill)..we are lucky we have anything at this point....and for the record, over the last 5 years of the webcast the quality has vastly improved...

The funny part is it does noit take a great deal to pan the stands. It is also weird that the Wesleyan Game Versus Amherst to the best of my knowledge had instant replay. While I do understand it is D3 would it hurt to go just a little extra for the sport.

No way Coach Blu leaves Williams. Only way is if Williams starts to do what Amherst is doing with admissions and he cannot get the athletes. I have a feeling that there will be some major changes coming in the next few years. Middlebury is trying to emulate Bowdoin and Amherst with their more stringent admissions polcies. I think Williams will soon get there soon enough. When that happens maybe he leaves.

I don't know that I agree re: the improved Williams O-Line. In 2019, they had Jeffery MacArthur (all-league), Jeremy Subjinski (4 year starter), Watson (still a stud), Terry Zapf (all-league as a freshman), and then the appearances from John Rooney and John Freeman who were on and off the DL, but were top contributors and will both be all-league in 2021. Not to mention FB Kyle Horihan who was 1st team all-league and laid the wood on guys on crackback blocks to the point where it was almost uncomfortable to watch. Violent. Glad he joined the armed services.

This year is a better Watson, better Rooney, better Freeman, but the losses of the 3 seniors + Zapf has forced them to rely a little bit more on the interior + Maimaron's eyes. The biggest difference in the numbers is really just because of the improved Freeman. But I still think the OL in 2019 was probably better.

The biggest difference between 2019 and 2021 is the emergence of Giandimenico and Dehmel at corners---the first guys Raymond has really had that can legit cover + the presence of Ian Devine up front, by far the best DL they've had, a legit destroyer and bona fide DPOY contender. The rest of the team is stuff they've largely had for years---outstanding LB play, good coaching, versatile weapons in the RPO, and Maimaron.

We assume by the term "years" you mean post 2016?!?  ;D

Amherst fans are hoping for a hurricane or record-setting rain for Saturday!  Dick Farley's greatest mistake - not agreeing to play the 1995 game at Amherst when offered.

You don't understand! I could'a had class. I could'a been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a 2nd team All-NESCAC QB, which is what I am, let's face it.

Hats off to Oliver Kell and Justin Ciero....

Gabby Price will not be commuting from Bangor. My "Insider" sources say the mold problem has been solved. Duct Tape + 2 coats of primer.

Serious question---what's the o/u on Amherst points scored against Williams? Is it ridiculous to say 2.5 or 3?
