Regarding backs, I include Kirby (and the Tufts back) in the group of impressive all-league backs who are returning.  Loads of talent at TB in NESCAC next season!

In other football award news:

Noon always has been and remains clueless...his All-New England Team drives that point home...

You can say whatever you want about Noontime's teams, but what can't be ignored is that he brings a ton of time, effort and attention to covering HS and D3 football in these parts; especially the Nescac and for that, I applaud his efforts.

Totally agree he spends a great deal of time on high School and D3 Football. Again just his opinion on All League line ups. He does provide a great deal of insight on High School players and where they are committing for football.

Opinion Question which Coach or Coaches are more than like on chopping block for this year ? Has anyone heard rumblings. I would have thought if a school was going to make a change they would do now so new Coach can get active in recruiting for next year.

Raymond's seat is still pretty warm after he passed on 4th and 1 against Tufts. Word on the street is that the blowout wins against Trinity and Wesleyan and undefeated league championship might have bought him another year.

Wow you can let coaching criticism go. I gave him props on great year but like all Coaches had a few blunders. Let it go. But I was talking about other Coaches

nescac1

This is NESCAC not the SEC. Coaches under contract don't get fired for on-field performance reasons.  Now, contracts that expire may not be renewed.  But the idea of a "hot seat" is in large part inimical to NESCAC.

Except in the case of JB Wells at Bowdoin which I will never figure out.

For clarity and closure on this.

I'll say it one more time,  JB Wells got railroaded after 3 years by a Polar Bear syndicate consisting of an unknown number of prominent Polar Bear(s) alumni who leveraged his firing against future (significant) contributions to Bowdoin Athletics. The Bowdoin Cub AD, shaking like a wet dog at the time, let it happen and then played the hard guy on the Hammer hiring.

Talk about hotseats, maybe include "AD" hotseats. Ryan is under the gun with the most traditionally important sport at Bowdoin....."Ice" Hockey as they call it in the NESCAC.  At the same he's praying that the Hammer crusade and the leniency which Ryan has negotiated from Bowdoin admissions will produce some football wins. Thats a two fold "hot seat" for Ryan in Brunswick.

Super Bowdoin hockey fan here: Bowdoin AD Ryan should go for hiring the current hockey HC, who is now in his 6th year of an absolutely disastrous reign & off to a 0-3-1 start for the 2021-22 season.

Tim Ryan was over his head from Day 1 as Bowdoin AD. He was the chosen lap dog hire by former Dean Tim Foster and has been a puppet ever since replacing Jeff Ward, who dared to stand up for his beliefs. Bowdoin sports have deteriorated under Ryan.

I did not realize that Ryan was a Foster legacy. If he is indeed a lap dog (that sounds right), his tenure is to indict the higher ups in the chain of command like Rose who presumably support the deterioration, which is most apparent and especially apparent in the case of a sport like hockey where the abject failure of recent years is in stark contrast to the success of the pre-Rose days . . .

The differences between Rose and former president  Barry Mills are stark as Mills was a champion of all Bowdoin sports. That may not have helped with football, but the competitiveness was at a much higher level. Bowdoin sports are pathetic, a real embarrassment to the College

Umm, maybe you are being a bit harsh on Bowdoin sports?  Yeah, football continues to lose games as it has for, basically, decades now, so hard to blame the current President for that, and now there finally seems to be a legit path to being better, with some nice young talent on the roster.  Bowdoin football could easily win 2-3, maybe even 4, games next year, that would shock no one.  That would be good progress.

The rest of the fall sports, league records:

Volleyball, 9-1
Field hockey, 7-3
Men's soccer, 4-4-2
women's soccer, 3-6-1

And of course, NESCAC is the best field hockey, men's soccer, and women's soccer league in the country, so even being mediocre in-conference in those sports is actually very tough.  I would not call that "pathetic" or an embarrassment.  Basically, including football, Bowdoin fall sports were exactly .500 in league play.

Winter it's a bit early to judge, but the men's hoops team is in a transition year with a new coach in all events, and has looked pretty good considering that it's nearly an entirely new team.  Women's hoops is off to a 7-0 start and is perpetually a really strong team.

By the way despite a massive investment in and emphasis on athletics Colby fared significantly worse than Bowdoin in fall sports (only football was better and it wasn't great either).  So, winning in Nescac doesn't come easily!
