Too much speculation and attention given to a totally bogus post by Charlie with recruiting numbers he pulled out of thin air. I must admit however that it did elicit some activity on a very dead board.
At the end of the day I appreciate Nescac1 suggestion to change the subject and move on to other topics.

Agree, @lochNescac, that the 300 number seems way to high but do believe that each NESCAC works from a list that is is several multiples of its target number of recruits for its incoming class. I was just looking at the twitter feed for one NESCAC recuit, who tweeted about receiving offers from Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Middlebury, Trinity, and Williams. You can see how the numbers tend high for each NESCAC when each NESCAC is going after many of the same players . . Eventually, the recruit will make a decision from the list of possibilities and will not pursue admissions at the other NESCAC suitors . . At  the end of the day, I am not sure why there is a fuss about the fact that each NESCAC coach starts out with. long list of possible candidates and then whittles the list down as admissions deadlines approach and potential applicants make their final decisions. The only news is that posting about receiving an offer of admissions support on social media is a newish thing so we now know a lot more about the lists of players from which each NESCAC is working.

The more ya know, the more ya think ya know.  The more ya think ya know, the more ya don't really know.  Ya know?

Nice to hear from you...Vandy :D.  Agree with your comment, ya know!  Guess you picked up a little of the South...down South.  The new Amherst Prez takes over on 1 August.  He is a classmate of my oldest Amherst son.....his wife is also an Amherst grad.  Will see if he is more positive towards Amherst sports...than the one that is leaving.  Fingers crossed on the matter.

Very sloppy... ???

How is Danny Banks returning all NESCAC DB left off?

It is obviously preseason for the writers that don't do the proper research too.....

Not the only, but a very glaring omission....

Looking forward to the games beginning and all of this getting sorted out on the field!!

I'd say that's a pretty solid pre-season list.  Very few of the names on there are surprises, certainly - with Snell over Banks (who was listed as a senior last year so forgivable to miss him) probably the only real choice I'd take issue with.  I would cheat and add Estevez as "all purpose" on offense since he's one of the best five players in the league.  But the rest of the top guys are represented.

Not sloppy at all for a group that does what they do as a labor of love/side gig. These are not full time making the big bucks somewhere. Banks being listed as a senior is assuredly the reason. I do know for a fact that other sites (where it is close to a full time gig) do occasionally reach out to coaches and/or A.D.'s about the status of certain key players, especially given the craziness of the extra year given Covid.

I'll never break the stones of some volunteer/barely paid folks putting their two cents in. If we think that we could do a better job, especially amongst the retired on the board, we could start our own site up...............and seed capital would not be an issue given that this is the NESCAC board. ;)

The Mole

I respectfully disagree with you jmc and nescac1. I do not want to make a mountain out of a mole hill (haha), but if it were one of your guys at Del-Val/Swarthmore/Williams you would be annoyed. Again, it is meaningless and it will all be settled on the field starting in 50 days.

I think the guy who runs that page is some recently graduated grad student or college kid.  Pretty sure he has put kids who have graduated on lists and who are out of eligibility.  I think the funniest were some of his choices for return specialist in 2021...

So, who are the guys who folks think are missing from these lists, besides Banks?

In terms of prominent players who aren't mentioned, there are Estevez and Berlutti at QB, but that position is pretty loaded once again.  I think Fischetti will be a dynamite RS IF the Ephs give him that role next year to get him more touches, but A. Smith is clearly the top RS specialist in the league.  Jovan Nenadovic still has a year of eligibility for Tufts, but I've not heard that he is a returning (would have to be a grad student).  Wesleyan has Simco coming back at WR, whether he is ahead of Tomlinson would be a question for Wesleyan fans (as a duo they will certainly be scary).  Kirby will have a big year for Trinity at TB, but is clearly behind Eden and Nicholas.  Honestly, it's hard to really take fault with the picks for 2022, if we are only saying they got one spot wrong.

Last question I have on recruiting. Forgetting the number of offers out there what happens if a school gives out these offers and they all come back saying they want to matriculate there. Has this every occurred at the NESCAC level where there is over recruitment ?

I dont beleive it has because of roster limits in past but just curious

nescac1

My strong suspicion is that not all of the "offers" trumpeted by recruits on Twitter are indefinite.  I would think some guys are told "if you say yes now, you have a spot, but if you don't and we fill the spot, the offer won't necessarily remain open," or something to that effect.

Got It

One great question leading up to opening week is which school had best recruiting class of 2026 and of these recruits which should make the most impact. This should keep the discussion lively. This is my initial pic for recruiting class.

1. Trinity.     - Stud recruits at varying positions
2. Williams   - Predicated on two kids
3. Tufts.       - Three solid recruits and 3 above Average
4. Colby       - I like 4 of their recruits could be solid
5. Wesleyan. - Always has good recruiting but I think Coaching has curtailed
                      development
6.Middlebury - Decent Recruit class missed on a few I think they wanted
7 Amherst     - The same as Middlebury some good picks some duds
8 Hamilton.   - One or two good recruits but the rest marginal players
9 Bowdoin     - Coach Hammer trying his best but sadly academically this school cant
seem to attract top prospects. It is almost to the point where if a
recruit gets offered there they use as leverage knowing they can play
at any NESCAC. Which will keep them bottom feeders in league.

Again this is why they play the games !

nescac1

Which two Williams guys, Charlie?  I assume bit Ed is one.  The QB from the Kent school also seems like a big wildcard with some definite talent.  Campbell Pang, Brendan Guy, and Sam Jaffe also look like interesting recruits.  Ephs went heavy in the trenches this year, not a ton of skill guys.
