Yes, but he's from Washington & Jefferson.

Well, I got the first 50% right. Hey, at least I didn't say Franklin & Marshall! ;D

crazy question anyone know who has gone on to the Pro's from NESCAC. The last one I remember was Mark Buben from Tufts back in the 80's

Alex Bernstein  -  was at Colby for 1 year, then transferred to & graduated from Amherst in 1997...Was DL in college, then moved to play OL in the Pro's...

And his son from Hingham Ma HS has signed with Amherst after being recruited by most of the NESCAC.

Joe Shield was a a QB at Trinity in the 1980's and was drafted by Green Bay...I think the draft was 12 rounds then, but it is amazing that a NESCAC player was drafted by an NFL team

nescac1

Surprised no one has mentioned Ethan Brooks, Williams 96. Certainly the most talented NESCAC non-kicker of the past 40 years, a seventh round draft pick who started 26 NFL games in his career.

Jeff Wilner (Wesleyan '94) was a big TE that played a couple seasons with the Packers and Broncos in the mid-90s. He was teammates at Wes with future NFL coach Eric Mangini.

Also forgot about Ted Rogers from Williams was with the Redskins (now Commanders) in early 90s

Dan Oliphant, a Colby OL in the mid 00s, made it to Ravens camp and played in the UFL. Ryan Moores (OT from Midd) also was signed by the Falcons in 2013. I think he spent a year or more on their practice squad.

Tommy Carr Bates '66 FB - drafted by Boston Patriots was on Pats Taxi squad- (now practice squad)
Rico Corsetti Bates LB Played one year for Pats in late 80's
Tom Burhoe Bates '78 TE Patriots/NY Giants 1978-79
Steve McCabe Bowdoin '78 OL Washington Redskins
Dick Leavitt Bowdoin '76 OL NY Giants
Sean Clancy Amherst '79 LB Miami Dolphins
Doug Swift Amherst mid 1970's LB Miami Dolphins
Freddie Scott Amherst 1970's WR Baltimore Colts
Jack Maitland Williams 1970's RB Baltimore Colts
Scott Perry Williams 1976 DB Cincinatti Bengals
Roger LeClerc Trinity early 1960's TE Chicago Bears

Note the Amherst-Miami Dolphins link. The connection was Don Shula and Amherst coach Ostendarp who played together on the NY Giants. They were great friends which paved the way for a number of Amherst guys in addition to those listed above to get a look from the Dolphins.

With this discussion of NESCAC and the NFL I've got to relate a great NESCAC story.

Scott Perry was an all conference DB at Williams in the mid 70's, a very good player.

Not sure if he was drafted or signed as a free agent but he ended up in camp with the Bengals as a rookie. (Perry ended up playing 5 or 6 years with the Bengals). There was a great RB already with the Bengals named Archie Griffin who is the only guy ever to win the Heisman twice.

As per routine, everyone in camp is timed in the 40. Scott Perry runs a faster time than Griffin who insists there is no way the D3 kid from ran a better time than him. Archie wants a match race with Perry! They ran 1 or 2 40's side by side and Perry clearly beats Archie Griffin.

When questioned about it years later Perry, who was not a bragger, says he actually "didn't even let it all out" to beat the two time Heisman winner.

Now that's a great NESCAC/NFL story.

Happy Holidays to all the NESCAC newcomers!
