That is certainly impressive. I believe that's the second time that Tufts has landed a 3-star commitment. I'm very curious how they continue to manage that, especially from southern recruits. Still hearing their coordinator, who recruits the region, has left. Will be interested to see if they can continue that trend.

Tufts just pulled in 3 star corner from TN who had multiple SEC scholarship offers. Told this is one of a few big commits that was yet to have announced.

Still haven't heard anything about recruiting coordinator leaving. Their corners coach from this past year so that could be what you are hearing about.

Also hearing their receiver Richardson's younger brother Ty Richardson out of CA who is a 2 star DB with multiple FCS offers is coming in next year. Recruiting outside of New England is certainly working for them.

Scoops

I would be happy to be wrong about their incoming class. Given what I've seen thus far, it's been a New England focus. Hoping to see them continue to think outside the NESCAC box as they have the last few years.

Source I talked to did say their recruiting coordinator, but I would be happy to be wrong there as well.

Alan Young CB 6'1" 188 Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville is a great score the Jumbos. Legit great NESCAC prospect.

For a kid from the south, southwest or pacific coast who decides he wants to pursue NESCAC opportunities he's is going to consider location.

For a recruit considering the top NESCAC programs this is the choice:

Hartford
Amherst
Williamstown
Middletown
Vermont
Boston

Civetti knows he can win that battle and he sells the Boston experience very well. Sure, some guys prefer a quiet setting at Williams, Amherst or Middlebury. But I believe Civetti has some great leverage. It's no contest. The new T train line is open. Boston Garden, Fenway Park and Downtown Boston 12 minutes away.

Why not identify the coaches we are posting rumors about. These guys work hard for short money and don't need false rumors on a NESCAC blog.

"I think the recruiting coordinator at Tufts is gone, I heard this someplace"..... really?
Tufts Recruiting Coordinator is Kenn Jones. Are you saying he has left?

NESCACFball24/7

He just posted about tufts recruiting 5 minute ago so I'm gonna again say that he's still at tufts lol.

So it's evidently a rumor.

I was told Coach Jones was leaving by a coach at another school in the league. But it appears that is not the case.

Very impressive score by the Jumbos. Three-star recruit with offers Ole Miss and Kentucky? Wow.

Serious question to the folks who are much more plugged in with recruiting, leagues, et al:  If this kid has the skills to land offers from SEC programs and the grades to be supported in admissions by Tufts, how was he not scooped up by an Ivy or even one of the more "academic" FBS schools (Vanderbilt, Stanford, Northwestern)?

I'm guessing there must be an additional variable here I've not accounted for. It looks like he is also a wrestler? Maybe the ability to play two sports is most important? I get that Medford (suburban Boston) is a location advantage relative to other NESCAC schools, but Silicon Valley (Stanford) or Nashville (Vanderbilt) are also quite appealing, and if Boston were truly the X-factor for this kid, given his academic profile and abilities, I would have thought Harvard a more natural landing spot?

Regardless, congrats to Tufts on great recruiting. The more top-level talent hitting the league, the better for all of the schools.

SpringSt7

According to 24/7 sports he received Ole Miss and Kentucky offers in December 2021, and then Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama, and Arkansas St. in June 2022. So if I had to guess, those SEC offers weren't all that concrete during his sophomore year of high school and subsequently went away as he got older, which happens all the time.

An impressive scoop by Tufts regardless, but I don't think he chose Tufts over two SEC schools.

I'll clarify- I did not say the Nashville recruit chose Tufts because the school is in Boston. I have no idea what the decision was based on.
I said the Tufts location gives Civetti a great advantage when recruiting kids who have offers from other NESCACs or competing schools that might be perceived as being located in less desirable areas. He's got a unique configuration of things at Tufts in comparison with the rest of the conference and knows how to sell those advantages. Tufts having a very good recruiting year and I believe these factors continue to contribute significantly to Civetti's recruiting success.

Tufts doesn't have a wrestling team I don't think. Maybe Williams and one other Nescac do which is a shame and another discussion .

PWO is prob what he received at those schools which many kids get-no guarantees and no money.

Nobody is throwing out PWO's to sophomores and juniors. My guess is that whatever coach offered him left and the offer went with them.

Scoops

Even still, it's fairly impressive that any SEC school thought highly enough of the kid to offer him as a sophomore or junior. You would think that a kid like that wouldn't make it past the Ivies, or at worst that Tufts wouldn't be the only NESCAC to offer him.

very impressive but if there is one thing we have all learned is that Socal media filled with a great deal of false hype. It is hard to decipher what is real. These kids are posting offers , visits and who can decipher what is fact or fiction. For Tufts sake I hope it is real.
