Does anybody know what to expect from Wesleyan next year? Have seen a lot about departures from Tufts but I would argue Wesleyan is losing even more of its core given that Tomlinson, Helbig, Estevez & Danny Banks are all gone. In fact, including Estevez all three of Wesleyan's top backs were seniors last year and they also lost WR2 Simco along with Tomlinson.

I think, at least offensively, Wesleyan will be fine. Estevez is a big loss but he was not at his peak last year and I think everyone will benefit from Candido being the clear number 1. I thought their QB situation the last two years was a disaster quite frankly, which was disappointing because DiCenzo is a phenomenal coach. The RBs are a byproduct of OL play for the most part and they have always been able to piece those together---Walker and McDonald will do fine. Tomlinson will be more or less irreplaceable but they have their 3-6 top targets back and that is just standard college football attrition for most good programs.

Helbig and Banks are massive massive losses, Helbig in particular, obviously. But the league feels pretty open after Trinity and they have 5 games at home including Trinity and Middlebury. If Candido is a top 3 ish QB they will be in the mix.

Oh Charlie....

I posted incorrectly. But Trinity lost their DB Coach to Harvard. So now that is DL Coach and DB Coach gone from last years team. i am sure Coach devanney will retool.

Trin9-0

On Monday Trinity announced its full incoming recruiting class of 32 players . As usual, it's heavy with representation from Massachusetts (ten). Somewhat surprisingly, there are as many players (six) from New York as there are from Connecticut with another five coming from New Jersey. The Class is split with 15 coming from private schools and 15 from public schools. The class also includes two transfers; an offensive lineman from Lafayette and a defensive back from Fordham.

There appears to be a lot of incoming beef with eleven combined offensive and defensive linemen who average 6'2½", 270 lbs. One name to keep an eye on following this season is Jaxon Carroll, who was an excellent quarterback for NEPSAC powerhouse, Choate. The other QB in the class is Vincent Ferrara from Wellesley, MA who has a twin brother, Xavier Ferrara, a tight end committed to Colby. Trinity is bringing in four tight ends of their own this year. Here's the full class:

Will Emerson, 6'2", 260 lbs., OL, Loyola | Illinois, hudl
Cortez Cole, 6'2", 285 lbs., OL, Kent | Connecticut, hudl
Tomas Langendorf, 6'4", 300 lbs., OL, Iona Prep | New York, hudl
John Curran, 6'2", 255 lbs., OL, BC High | Massachusetts, hudl
Aidan Murphy, 6'1", 240lbs., OL, Hull | Massachusetts, hudl
Robby Mandel, 6'5", 275 lbs., OL, Lafayette College via Ramsey | New Jersey, hudl
Joey Pallotta, 6', 260 lbs., OL, Williston Northampton | Massachusetts, hudl
Jonathan Sarkar, 5'10", 205 lbs., TE, Don Bosco | New Jersey, hudl
Jake Hogan, 6'2", 225lbs., TE, Bolles School | Florida, hudl
Dylan Simon, 6'2", 220 lbs., TE, Watchung Hills | New Jersey, hudl
Ben Carley, 6'3", 243 lbs., TE, Trumbull | Connecticut, hudl
Nick Behrens, 6'3", 190 lbs., ATH, Georgetown Prep | Maryland, hudl
Jamieson Hodlin, 6'3", 230 lbs., ATH, Scituate | Massachusetts, hudl
Jack Tosone, 6', 200 lbs., RB/WR, Pembroke | Massachusetts, hudl
Ben Banatao, 6', 170 lbs., WR, Menlo | California, hudl
Bryce Ferrell, 6', 170 lbs., WR, St Georges | Rhode Island, hudl
Justin Kolpan, 5'10", 175 lbs., WR, Del Val | New Jersey, hudl
Andrew Wetterwald, 5'11", 185 lbs., WR , Andover | Massachusetts, hudl
Khamani Hunter, 5'11", 182 lbs., WR, FDR | New York, hudl
Jaxon Carroll, 6'4", 200 lbs., QB, Choate | Connecticut, hudl
Vincent Ferrara, 6'1", 195 lbs., QB, Wellesley | Massachusetts, hudl
Luke Ventura, 6'5", 283 lbs., DL, Chaminade | New York, hudl
Jordan Atkinson, 6'3", 245 lbs., DL, St. Sebs | Massachusetts, hudl
Cristopher Pineda, 6'3", 302 lbs., DL, Hartford Public | Connecticut, hudl
John Toyias, 6' 255 lbs., DL, Newton | Massachusetts, hudl
Will Maier, 6'2", 205 lbs., LB, Hackley | New York, hudl
Brady McGowan, 6', 205 lbs., LB, Catholic Memorial | Massachusetts, hudl
Wesley Selmani, 6', LB, Daniel Hand | Connecticut, hudl
Shane Mosia, 6'1" 195 lbs., LB/ATH, Plainedge | New York, hudl
Patrick McCaffrey, 6'3", 185lbs., DB, Ridge | New Jersey, hudl
Milan Gialleonardo, 6'1", 165 lbs., DB, Edgemont | New York, hudl
Jack Englert, 5'11", 200 lbs., DB, Fordham University via Taft | Connecticut, hudl

Wesleyan also announced their full class of 27 incoming players. As is the case with Trinity, they represent a very even split with 14 from private schools and 13 from public schools. New York led the way with six players, followed by Connecticut and New Jersey with five apiece and Massachusetts with four. Two from both Texas and Florida and one each from Maryland, New Hampshire, and Oregon.

While Trinity's big fellas are primarily on the offensive side of the ball with seven offensive lineman, and four defensive linemen, Wes opted to bring in just three linemen on the offensive side of the ball and nine on the defensive line. There are no incoming tight ends for the Cards but they are bringing in a kicker/punter. Both the Trin and Wesleyan recruiting classes include two quarterbacks, five wide receivers and just one running back.

I also found it interesting that five schools are sending players to both Trinity and Wesleyan next season:
Choate, CT
Trumbull High, CT
Catholic Memorial, MA
Hackley, NY
Don Bosco Prep, NJ

Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, Hamilton, Middlebury, and Tufts have all started announcing their commitments via twitter. Bates appears to be bringing in a class from all over the world (literally)... from their twelve announced commits thus far they have kids coming from California, Colorado, Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Ottawa, and Nigeria! Bowdoin has only announced three commits thus far; one each from Connecticut, Virginia and Texas. Colby has shared five of their incoming players hailing from Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Hamilton has announced six commits; three from New York, and one each from New Jersey, Connecticut, and California. Middlebury's class of seven thus far includes players from, New Hampshire, Illinois, California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania. Tufts shared two players this morning, one from Colorado and another from Massachusetts.

Finally, here are some other NESCAC commits that I've seen from Connecticut:
Bates
Eric Facey, DT, Taft
Trey Hartnett, WR, Fairfield Prep

Bowdoin
John Desmarais, DL, Glastonbury

Middlebury
Caleb Smith, RB/DB, Newtown

Tufts
Justin Keller, QB, Ridgefield
Rohan Terrell, LB, Bunnell
James Thom, OL, Darien

There are lots of reasons Trinity is the favorite to win NESCAC more years than not and one of them is that they seem to bring in a class of over 30 football recruits nearly every year.  (Williams, by comparison, averages about 20, just a dramatic difference, and I think most NESCAC schools bring in 26 or fewer recruits in a typical year).  Being able to bring in seven OL prospects in a single recruiting class is certainly something other coaching staffs will be envious of ...

Is NESCAC returning to the 75-man roster limit at some point after the effects of COVID years have ended?  If so, it seems like Trinity will have a ton of recruits on campus who can't earn a roster spot down the line, even accounting for injuries and attrition ...

Is Williams the last NESAC school left which doesn't announce its recruits over social media?  I guess they keep it old-school ...

Mandel, the OL transfer from Lafayette, seems like a VERY high level recruit for NESCAC.  He had a slew of D1 offers coming out of high school and was a two-star recruit.

It should be noted that Trinity is trimming its roster spots and don't be surprised if there are cuts to the number of players in the program and or Transfers out for next year. I have heard that they need to be at around 115 by the school when the season starts. I would expect the teams philosophy of not cutting freshman will apply. So that means 4 th or 5 th depth chart players on roster will be cut  ,quit or simply phased out.

Does anybody know anything about this school Menlo out in California?
They quietly have a pretty big contingent of kids in the league the last couple of years. Most notably Jaden Richardson at Tufts but also
Sergio Beltran at Bates (all-state QB)
Carter Jung at Amherst(all-state WR)

and incoming freshman
Avery Romain at Amherst (DL who had multiple D1 scholarship offers)
Ty Richardson at Tufts (2 Star All-state CB also with D1 scholarship offers)
Ben Banatao at Trinity
Tyler Flynn at Wesleyan
also heard from a buddy coaching in the league that they have another DL who had D1 offers and may end up in the Nescac late (pending admissions)

Jaxon Carroll, 6'4", 200 lbs., QB, Choate | Connecticut, hudl

Carroll is a very good quarterback, big, great arm and knows how to win games.  And, Carroll's stats would have been even better if he was given every snap but he split time with a younger QB on Choate's roster who was a junior this year who has 5 or 6 Division 1 offers.

Williams took a hit in their recruitment class Jon Marvan shttered his ankle and just came off shoulder surgery. Future could be in doubt for football.
