Always a lotta QBs and RBs at Trinity. They are all gonna get that ring. Like the SEC- Coach Jeff can sell it like nobody else.

That's a lotta QB's at Trinity...

The Wellesley kid probably isn't going to play QB there imo....

Assume he knows he could be moved or might be signaling in plays.

Does anybody know anything about this school Menlo out in California?
They quietly have a pretty big contingent of kids in the league the last couple of years. Most notably Jaden Richardson at Tufts but also
Sergio Beltran at Bates (all-state QB)
Carter Jung at Amherst(all-state WR)

and incoming freshman
Avery Romain at Amherst (DL who had multiple D1 scholarship offers)
Ty Richardson at Tufts (2 Star All-state CB also with D1 scholarship offers)
Ben Banatao at Trinity
Tyler Flynn at Wesleyan
also heard from a buddy coaching in the league that they have another DL who had D1 offers and may end up in the Nescac late (pending admissions)

Head of School and Head of the Upper School both are Williams alums.  Ephs may need to start tapping that connection a bit more.

That would be too challenging and complicated for this Coaching Staff. I keep hearing excuses about only being able to bring in 20 players each year compared to everyone else's 26-28 as the reason for Williams lack of success. No doubt the HC parrots the excuse to whomever he talks to but maybe he has not fully grasped how to recruit to Williams yet. I mean it's been 8 years and yes I do realize some people learn at a slower pace but he still should have the pick of the litter for the best players. He just needs to be that more accurate than the other Nescac's with his picks. Quality over Quantity...he does not have the wiggle room to make any mistakes. It takes patience and focus. It also takes imagination to picture where a player can play in college position wise and how he will perform against the competition every week.

In the initial and final analysis, I think you will find that Williams has a very strong recruiting class coming in this year.

On paper maybe, which means nothing right now. Factor in possible injuries, homesick crap, adapting to speed of college game, adapting to good assistants and bad ones, academic work, etc etc and u really have no idea what u actually have until it gets on the field. However, for now I will trust ur judgement.

Eph-
Boy you've got all the future excuses lined up in advance- lol.
It's much harder to look forward than it is to to wait for the results and then make your call.
Lets see.

Lotta good athletes & great kids joining the league no doubt; all these guys have busted their asses to get to where they are.   Congrats & best wishes to all of them, it only makes the NESCAC better.   I think we can all agree that NOBODY knows how it will all shake out...

That said; I wouldn't get too wrapped up in the Freshman class at any school...this year....the chances of these guys making any impact this coming season is slim to none....if that.

Better gauge is looking at the Sophomores...

They're the guys that will be seeing the field for the first time, so who has that advantage...??   LAST years recruiting class....

So....?

Scoops

Excellent point. I think the issue at hand though, is who actually needs their Sophomore class to step in? With major departures at some schools, and young rosters coming into their own at others, it's going to be an interesting year in the league.

As I see it the rosters at Wesleyan, Tufts, and Trinity all had major pieces exit the program due to graduation. You can assume the cupboards aren't bare at those schools, buy you'll need to see the Sophomore classes step into big roles.

Ineffective older talent at places like Williams, Amherst,  and Bates will likely lead to a lot of younger players stepping into the spotlight as well. Particularly Bates who is really stepping into an overhaul in year two of the Coyne tenure, and his first real recruiting class.

Colby and Bowdoin have their respective cores entering their JR and SR years, and likely won't rely as heavily on their underclassmen.

Hamilton and Middlebury are a bit murky. Both are teams with some older talent, but will likely look to replace some of their more ineffective older guys with some underclassmen.

Heard the QB coach at Trinity is leaving for a job outside of football.  Good guy and did a nice job for them.  He will be missed.

The Mole

Wesleyan had about a dozen sophomores get playing time last year. 8 or 9 of them starters or in the rotation. Those guys will have to continue to progress and develop as rising juniors. If they do, the Cards should be in the conversation. Too much to ask for freshman to be major contributors. If they do, its a bonus.

TAKE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

If it's true about Jon Marvan's injury, that is a tough blow for Williams.  Hopefully he can eventually come back 100 percent because he looks an impact recruit down the line.  I'm sure Williams will have a lot of first-year and sophomore players in big roles next year.  Raymond is never afraid to play young players and the Ephs certainly lost a big senior class.

In terms of the sophs I'd expect to see play for Williams, by the end of the year Pang, Papadopolous, and McGrail has all moved ahead of more veteran guys on the secondary depth chart.  I'd expect all three to enter camp as starters this year (with Pang maybe a candidates to move up to LB).  Leslie Williams will definitely in the mix at LB.  Sam Jaffe looks like he will be a player at TE / H-Back.  Cam Maguire could be in the mix for a starting o-line spot and while he didn't see much time as a frosh, Joseph Ngnombouowo is another name to watch up front (although both starting OTs do return).  I'm sure there will be others, but I'd be surprised to see a huge group of sophs prominently involved next year.  I expect there will be just as many frosh as sophomores in the two-deep.  Frosh could end up playing a lot of snaps at WR, C/G, TB, and possibly QB, though I imagine Jack Dickinson will come into camp as the number one guy.  On defense, Williams really needs some of the more experienced guys who were hurt or otherwise made less of an impact than expected last year to step up in a major way.

Coach Coynes recruiting class at Bates will be 41 incoming in the class of '27.
94 man preseason roster.
New Field Turf surface and facility enhancements being installed this summer.
Complete uniform re-design with 3 different jerseys and 3 pants options.
There is a serious rebuild underway with an immense amount of momentum in Lewiston but the team will be very young. It will take time so the Bobcat faithful will need to be patient as Coyne rebuilds the program.

Coyne is very impressive in the way he is managing the program.
Should he ever decide to enter the business world he would be a success in any role where intelligence, mental toughness and leadership qualities are important. This kid has it. Lucky to have him at Bates.

41!!?   Wow....that's a big number...

Will be an interesting looking sideline in Lewiston.   Still only 75 allowed to dress correct??
