It'd official...Wes @ UBates Friday at 7 PM...#rollcards

Scoops

Love the insight Nescacman, as always. However I'm baffled as to how you can possibly put Williams as high as you have? Considering that they are, at best, trotting out a QB who couldn't throw, to a below sub par receiver group. Or at worst, a first time starting QB (who will likely be a freshman) throwing to that same group of below sub par receivers.

Also, we're all aware of your affiliation to the Cardinals, but It's even bold of you to claim that Wesleyan will be a top-tier team this year. Even with Candido as a part-time starter, the losses are just so massive that there's no way they're up with the top tier. Barring major injury, this year should be a 3-horse race between the Bants the Pants and Bos

JV Game

Trinity (JV) will be playing Tufts (JV) this Sunday in a JV game at Trinity game time is 1:00 pm not sure how the game will be played or if it is a controlled scrimmage.

I do not know what grade levels are playing in this game suspect third and fourth depth chart players.

I think Nescacman's pre-season ranking looks about right.  To me, the tiers of the league are:

1. Trinity - overwhelming favorite
2. Tufts and Midd - loaded with talent and legit challengers, but both have a few question marks that puts them behind Trinity
3. Wesleyan, Williams, Amherst, Colby - hard to predict on any given week, could easily surprise the top three, but feel like the middle of the league
4. Bowdoin, Hamilton, and Bates - three wins would be a very good year.

Of that fourth tier, Bowdoin is the one I could see rising to tier 3.

Scoops, appreciate your thoughts...obviously, our collective opinion are just that, opinion. We shall soon see over the coming days.

Although there is no love lost here for the Evil Ephs Empire, we do think they will have a bounce back year. Heck, they won 3 games basically without a QB last year. The defense and running game will be solid. Frankly, they haven't had a great passing attack in many years, even when QB Bobby was running around for them. When was the last time they had a stud WR who's name wasn't Stola? We're sticking by 5-4...could be a game better or a game worse but 4-5 to 6-3 seems about right to us.

As fr as the Cards, yes they lost some marquis talent but they do return 15 starters, have a Top 4 QB in Nico (or better), return two really good WRs in Chase Wilson and Thomas Elkhart (last time the Cards played at UBates his one-handed catch in the end zone made the "Mossed" segment on ESPN as the catch of the day), have a  very good TE in Leutenberg, return most of their OL, return their entire LB corps, 3/4 of the secondary (ex. All-NESCAC CB Danny Banks), and return All-NESCAC DL Mike Rowan and starter Colton Weir back from injury in 2022. Yes they lose Helbig (getting 10-12 snaps a game at Wake) and Tomlinson (starting at UNH and 2 TDs in 2 games) but there is a ton of talent hanging around in Middletown. We're sticking by our 6-3 prediction. Could be a game either way but they could be a surprise without the high expectations of recent years.

GroundandPound

Amherst athletics department not only failed to prepare a 2023 football roster, they apparently forgot to book buses and hotel rooms for their trip to Middlebury.
Apparently, the players are car pooling and using Uber to get to the game.

HerdNerd

Middlebury is a three hour drive from Amherst and the game starts at 2:00pm.  I don't think hotel rooms are required, just a 9:00am departure time.  But buses are important.  Hopefully they can figure that one out.

It's not a bad drive.  ;D

Question, are they going to be able to find enough Uber's for the ride home?!?  ???
