The change in the NESCAC schedule will have far reaching effects,  It will take on a more NFL look with a bi-week for each team inserted into the season,  Traditional rivalries will permanently change with Williams dropping Amherst for their closing game and picking up Bates.  Now the final Little Three Game featured on NESN TV will be Amherst vs Wesleyan.  Similarly, Colby will jettison Bowdoin for its final tilt and pick up Middlebury.  The Polar Bears will finish their season against the Bantams who will no longer have their instate foe Wesleyan available on that weekend.  Lastly, the new ultimate rival for Tufts will be Hamilton.

While the season will now end later than ever, the only question remaining is, which game will now be known as the Biggest Little Game in America?

And it will show that getting a "postseason" game is not detrimental.

I do feel bad for the Amherst/Williams Sr players who won't end their careers with that storied rivalry game. Did the league consider manipulating the schedule to make that happen?

SpringSt7

Yeah it would've been nice to find a work around for that but Amherst is still playing today - their season will end with Williams like it always does. Williams having to prepare for Bates for another week after either beating their archrival or losing to them is pretty crappy. But it is an understandable byproduct of this situation.

In a perfect world you could play Bates Week 9 and Amherst "Week 10" but then Bates would have to play Hamilton a week earlier, and that would affect the Hamilton vs. Middlebury game and now you are moving another game around that has championship implications, etc, etc. Just really hard, not to mention you have team hotels set up and parents flying in and all that. Just no way to properly do it.

If that game is still on TV this year, then there probably wouldn't be an option to swap those games around.

Wow -- Huge congratulations to the Continentals as they down the Jumbos 36-34 in the 5th OT. The Conts got to OT with 17 unanswered points in the 2d half after falling behind 0-17.

So proud of the Hamilton kids as they pull off one of their biggest wins in years over Tufts today.

Entertaining exchanges here between Hamilton and Tufts.

Did not see the whole game-  Did Berluti have a rare off day?
And yes Charlie, Tufts special teams mistake might have been the difference.

Although there were only 2 games on the schedule today, one of the more shocking days in the NESCAC in recent memories...

Tufts just made the last few weeks of the season very interesting and will hopefully, with the very surprising loss to the Alexander Hamilton's, make the Jumbo's that much more motivated in Week #9 against MID. For the life of us, we don't understand how the team we saw destroy our beloved Cardinals in Medford with all that firepower could loss to an undermanned HAM squad playing without their starting TB and using their former starting QB at TB. Head scratcher, but hey, this is the NESCAC. We're going to watch the game tomorrow and will have much more to say on this developing story during week.

In other news, the convincing win by Wes today was their largest beat down of the Lord Mammoths since 1992 (31 years). Two more defensive TDs for Wes and another stellar day by star receiver and probable NESCAC OPOTW Chase Wilson. Onward to Williamstown. #beatwilliams

Yeah, the NESCAC should manipulate the entire schedule so that two self-entitled, also-ran teams can play each other the last week of the season. Sheesh, did any of our non-Lord Mammoth/Purple Cow brethren laugh as hard as we did after reading this post? What a joke...

Easy fella. Unfortunately, the littlest game will be just that this year. NM don't be upset your tradition is strolling through a sea of purple hair ,inhaling the effervescent stench of doobie all whilst watching a game on a glorified hs venue. You do have that clothing optional dorm so I guess that's another proud tradition there.

Hats off to the Conts for winning that pillow fight where D and special teams were optional most of the day.
