The Ghost of John Wesley

Quote from: Hawk196 on March 11, 2024, 12:51:38 PMWhat are some of the NY powerhouses? I remember St. Anthonys on Long Island, Stephinac, Iona prep in Westchester. Who are the upstate NY powerhouses?

Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse has had a lot of strong teams over the years. They've placed a lot of kids at D1 schools and have a handful of alums who played in the NFL. They were the NY AA champs this year and ranked #5 in the state per MaxPreps (after Cardinal Hayes, Archbishop Stepinac, Iona Prep, and Somers).

Also, St. Francis and Canisius in western NY play national level schedules against some of the top teams in PA, OH, IN, etc.

Quote from: RoostersBy90 on March 06, 2024, 02:19:14 PMIt's a slow off season fella but per insiders, the Rooster's QB1 Zebrowski has put 30 pounds on his bench since November and can throw 10 yards further than last year.

New to the board, thanks to everyone for having me. Just wanted to ask since you probably have more knowledge than I do. What happened to the QB transfer I heard Trinity was getting, Jake Robbins (walk on QB from West Virginia) if I'm not mistaken? It looks like he's an enrolled student at Trinity. Did that fall through or will there be a battle with Zebrowski for the QB1 job.

Robbins broke ankle I beleive in preseason and is on roster with three eligibility. He most certainly will be challenging Zembrowski as well as Carroll & Ferrara. I think there will defintely be good play at QB. Coaching staff high on Robbins before injury.

East from Colby has not committed anywhere and honestly I would not be surprised to see him back at Colby based off of the offers he has now especially since he has not graduated yet.

Wood and Elkoury I would also not be surprised to see return to their respective schools. All of Woods offers are pwo's including Delaware which is only a partial scholarship and Elkoury has none so far. But with grad guys its harder to predict since they have their degrees already and are losing nothing by transferring.

With Tufts, I know for a fact that Iuteri, Garza and all other 5th years have opted to not play another year except for Javi Rios who will be back and obviously Richardson who transferred.

On another note, I was very surprised that graduate guys like Colton Fahey or EJ Comerford didnt test out the portal to see what the market for them looked like

RedAndBlack

Every year, it seems like more and more kids are transferring out of the NESCAC and looking for FCS and FBS offers. It seems the allure of the portal has "trickled down" to D3. Its interesting to see how some guys are using D3 like a prep school year. How long until we see players opting to transfer anywhere with scholarship money, even a local school like Bentley, as a way to offset the high costs of attending a NESCAC school?

I think we have been protected from it because of guys having their covid 5th years and option to graduate and then transfer. Would not surprised to see kids begin to the NESCAC like juco and trying to transfer after two years. The kids who would have the ability to do this are guys that nescac coaches quite frankly cant afford to say no to if they opt to pull their name out of the portal and for the kids it gives them a more than solid back up plan in a NESCAC degree if the portal doesn't work out or they don't put the tape together they would need.

I would have chosen Trinity Dl as second place a great deal of returners young fast group who were given a great deal of playing time last year.

Scoops

I know I trash Wesleyan a lot, and rightfully so. However, putting Zebrowski (had only played in garbage time) and Kurzum (147ypg, 7/5 TD/INT) above Candido in your position group rankings is absolute lunacy.

The Mole, are you proposing QBs: Tufts, Wesleyan, (then who?)

nescac1

Is Boel returning for Bowdoin?  I'd have him third if so.
