Sure, we took the L against Trinity—big round of applause for them. They really brought the 'senior' power to the game, didn't they? With more grad students in their starting lineup than a college reunion, they naturally had the edge. But Reece did run off about 70 yards in just one half against their 'experienced' squad. If Trinity couldn't stop him last year, Buckle those chin straps extra tight this year...  And age before beauty? We'll see about that this time around.

Lonestar12,
With all due respect here. You are obviously a smart man who is in a world-class school.
Play the part, and as a wise man once said: "Act like you have been there before".
So either you are from another school trying to put a major target on the Tufts RB, or you want Tufts to be on the bulletin board of each one of your opponents.
Keep chirping buddy, you went 6-3 last year...that buys you nothing.
Earn the title, and then be that guy.

LoneStar12

Full disclosure: I'm a dad not a player.

Sure, we might have a target on our backs, but in Texas, if you dont have a target on your back, then you must not be worth targeting.

When you say act like you've been there before? Do you mean, like leading the league in rushing before? Or leading the league in most carries and most touchdowns before?  8-)

And about that 6-3 record, well, we were just warming up. This year, we're turning up the heat Texas-style. Last season's 6-3? That was just the appetizer. This year, we're coming for the full feast. We respect the game, we honor our opponents, and we play with heart—the kind of heart that's as big as Reece's home state, our beloved Lone Star State.

So, to all those teams out there, consider this a friendly Texas tip: when you see Tufts on your schedule, bring your A-game. Because we're not just playing for titles; we're playing for pride. And in Texas, pride is everything.

Best of luck,
The Tufts Team with a whole mess of Texas Spirit.

I would worry about getting past the mighty Continentals before talking about titles and pride.

While it is entertaining (and frankly refreshing) that the Tufts RB's "father" isn't concerned with hiding behind monikers on the board, I do find it more humorous that the response to the confidence is "you haven't won a title" / "you went 6-3".

Most teams in the league would kill to be 6-3. Hell, the CBB teams alone would kill to be 4-5. So to knock a team for being one of the better teams in the league is kinda funny.

And to bring in "winning a title" I'll just point to the fact that Trinity recently had the most fraudulent "ring ceremony" imaginable. So if that's the value that we're putting on winning a title in the league, then really, who cares? Enjoy those literal participation trophies Bantam fans...

All that said, "Mr. Reece" has certainly put the target on Tufts, and his "son's" back. Let's see if he and the Jumbos can live up to their own hype. I am seeing that Tufts has brought in a relatively large contingent of TX and southern recruits though. So kudos to them for continuing to diversify the NESCAC football geographical background.

Pot, meet Kettle. Proud of that "NESCAC title" are ya?

You're a bum dad that comes on here to brag about your average son, who's an OK RB in the Nescac, nothing special. Tufts goes 6-3 every year and loses to terrible teams, like Hamilton. Embarrassing. Tufts will never get over the hump and be better than 6-3. Jay Civetti is an awful coach whose bull****s the all conference players every year to make himself look better. If he has so many good players, then why is his team so average? ... and Florida football owns Texas Football.

LoneStar12

Most Hated Batant, Why are so mad? Geez, I never knew "sore winner" was an actual thing  8-)  Alright, let's cut through the fluff and get down to business. 🏈🔥

Listen up, keyboard warrior: you're out here swinging like a third-string linebacker, but your insults? They're more predictable than a prevent defense. Tufts goes 6-3? Sure, it's like clockwork – but guess what? Clocks don't win championships; players do.

And Coach Civetti? Yeah, he's got more X's and O's in his playbook than you've got Twitter followers. So, before you start throwing shade, remember that he's the one orchestrating the game plan while you're just an angry armchair quarterback.

Now, about Florida football owning Texas? That's like saying a gator can out-rodeo a longhorn. Both states bring the heat, but let's not forget, it's the players who turn the turf into a battleground. So save the state pride for the license plate – we're here for the gridiron clash.

And as for your angry outburst? Well, that's cute. It's like a chihuahua barking at a freight train. Maybe next time, channel that energy into a touchdown dance or something. Because in this game, confidence is currency, and you're running on empty.

Now go hit the showers – you've got some humility to wash off. 🚿😎

Kindest regards, A Bum Dad.

Using Ground&Pound's "returning position groups", a VERY unscientific point value assignment yields this pre season "power ranking"

1  Midd
2  Trinity
3. Wes
4. Tufts
5. Williams
6. "the field"

....VERY unscientific, but maybe..??  Discuss...

Can someone explain the emergence of Reece from tufts? This is this first I've heard of him after a stellar year. But when I check the roster I see he is a junior. Is he a transfer guy?

That looks pretty close to how I'd rank the teams pre-season as well ... although I'd put Trinity first since Midd has a transition at QB and Trinity always has stars sitting on the bench to fill in.  I'll go:

1. Trinity, 2. Midd, 3. Wesleyan, 4. Tufts, 5. Williams, 6. Amherst, 7. Hamilton, 8. Bowdoin, 9. Colby, 10. Bates.

Bates is on the rise but still a year away from having a critical mass of talent.  Colby, with all the smoke about the head coach, that's not usually a great sign for a program.  Hamilton seems like it could be on the rise.  I think Tufts/Williams/Amherst will be closely grouped in the middle of the pack.

Still upset over a team that just historically dominates you. When your guys become part of the conversation, then you

I can see why this guy is the most hated Bantam. Never loses his cool though! However he is right about Civetti. Routinely favors his players on individual awards that they probably would not have received if he did not have so much pull with All American/All Region. Really makes them look better than the average team they are year after year. Also holds grudges against players who beat him so bad that he cries walking off the field  :'(

The odd part in this entire rant by the Tufts dad is that Trinity boasts probably the best RB in the League in Denapoli. They also have a young up an comer this year who is like a Mike Alstott back and going to be a great tandem this year at the RB position. HIs name is Matt Hickey and will prove to be a real problem in the league. This will be probaly one of Coach Devanney's biggest challenges. He has a very promising star studded line up on both sides of the ball which while we got glimpses of last year this will be there coming out party. Frankly excited to see the philosophocal changes based on the young very athletic talent on this team. I am also curious to see how the Willims team with there recruiting classes the last two years. This has to be there break out season or could set the program in a backwards direction.
