Word out of Waterville is that a young Eph lost part of a finger on the first onside attempt by Colby, and remained on the field for the second attempt after it was called back due to a return team false start. William's trainer was seen carrying it out in a bag of ice after the game.

Now that's heart, wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.

The Wesleyan v Tufts game broadcast would be better with less dialogue from the announcers lol

NESCACFball24/7

so I thinks after the performance by their offense the last two weeks it's time to ask if we've been looking at tufts all wrong. We've been quick to blame Civetti the last years for their pitfalls but has it in reality been the talent around berluti bailing him out in games? He has not been able to do anything without that core group of guys he has had the last couple of years

Anyone else feel like that the amount of money spend at these NESCAC schools you would think the TV game play would be better. Constantly boring play by play live streaming stinks. feed delay on TV etc

I mean cant they invest money in better quality announcing and filming. Sometimes I think the film guy is having a cocktail while filming so much delay and poor quality.

Kinda quiet for a post game Sunday....?

Thoughts...?

Middlebury's first 7 drives yesterday: punt, punt, safety, fumble, punt, punt, punt
Last 6 drives: touchdown, touchdown, field goal, touchdown, touchdown, victory formation

The slow start on offense worried me after Week 1, but they did a great job turning it around. They were able to run it effectively in the second half with a pack of 5 RBs, and Brian Moran looked more comfortable in the pocket and had a some nice throws plus 3 TDs. The defense was solid all day, with the only touchdown they allowed coming on a short field after the early fumble. From 12-0 down with less than a minute to go in the first half to a 39-15 win, glad to see the Panthers back on track.

Maple, we were able to watch the entire Middlebury/Polar affair yesterday. Much to be said on this one (which we will do via our various platforms over the next couple of days). Kudos to the Panthers (who we picked to win) on getting win #1 for 2024. The game was entertaining for a half. Obviously, Bowdoin had no answer for MID in the second half. Our assessment is that Bowdoin's defense was just worn down in the second half half after literally blitzing 80-90% of the time in the first half against an offensive line that had a noticeable size advantage over them.

Once again, congratulations and good luck against Colby this week.

Just following up again to confirm if this was meant to be 0-1 after Middlebury or 0-2 after Tufts? Thanks.

"Just saying I personally am nowhere near as confident guaranteeing they will go at least 6-3 as I am Tufts, Trinity and Midd. Especially after they most likely start 0-1 after Tufts."

Love this post...almost as much as we love your homemade Philly cheesesteaks at the greatest 'lil tailgate in the NESCAC...

I bet you were giddy to write this one...my previous point still stands. They'll drop a head scratcher soon enough. Either way, should be an interesting week 9...*yawn*

I will translate: "Since I am a hater, it is impossible for me to admit I was wrong. Good game by Wesleyan, they have had two quality wins. There is a lot of football left to play, and if they can avoid hiccups liek the last 3 years, it makes for an interesting NESCAC race."

I was more giddy to post this response since I knew you would take the bait. Thank you

That is actually not what I meant at all. I meant they will most certainly drop a head scratcher because it is part of who they are. The only thing that would impress me with Wesleyan would be consistency, something they have lacked for a very long time. They have always picked up decent wins throughout the season. It is within their teams make up to choke down the stretch.

You Wesleyan alumnus sure do get creative with your words.

Still yawning.

Early season POTY power rankings (some of the big names who haven't had a huge impact yet statistically I expect will rise):

OPOTY (kind of a thin group so far):

1. Chase Wilson, Wesleyan
2. Owen McHugh, Williams
3. Zander Zebrowski, Trinity
4. Michael Berlutti, Tufts
5. Ryan Linskey, Bates

Other to watch: Keon Smart; Sean Clapp; Patrick Jamin; Mario Fischetti; Jack Tosone; Niko Candido; Tyler Flynn; Chester Boynton

DPOTY (loaded):

1. Luke Harmon, Amherst
2. Ben Carbeau, Wesleyan
3. Julian Young, Colby
4. Ty Richardson, Tufts
5. Wesley Abraham, Wesleyan

Others to watch: Sebastien Romain, Koy Price, Tomas Kenary, Ethan Scott, Aidan Reidy, Dave Filias, Ma-Lyke David, Amari Phillips, Ty Kazanowsky

ROTY:

1. Luke Mangini, Williams
2. Marquez Narvaez-Estrada, Bates
3. Jack Nye, Colby
4. Connor McClellan, Middlebury
5. Zach Curtin, Amherst

Unless I'm missing someone, and I likely am, those are the only five FYs who have made a material impact so far, but surely others will emerge. The Williams defense has a few other FYs to watch, starting LB Zakkai Moore, DB Andrew Kreakie, who played a lot of snaps and looked good vs. Colby, and DT Will Gale, who is stuck behind a lot of vets but looks based on limited snaps like a guy who plays with a lot of force already and who is likely to be a big impact player down the line.
