What is your motivation for a post like that- wonder about your connection with the 2 players you suggest as replacements.
Why not suggest that Williams needs to have better OL play or avoid QB hurries and sacks?
Cheap, bush league post.
Completely agree. What purpose does one find singling out a kid who works hard and shows up everyday find something better to do.

Umm Lumber, wasn't this you literally one week ago?

For the record, I fully agree that you can make your point on this board without specifically calling out individual players and their shortcomings/mistakes. Just surprised to see you make a complete 180° in such a short period of time.

Different set of circumstances.

The past negative comments on this board made about the best O lineman in the league who is a pro prospect are not in the same class as this post today. I think the Middlebury lineman will have no problem shrugging off those past comments which were not as vicious as those made about the Williams kid today.

The negative comments I posted on last week on were not as pointed and were more tongue in cheek as opposed to a personal attack.

Comments today, in bold print:  lackluster, gassed, overwhelmed.... and also deemed "undisciplined".

For  me the worst part of todays post is suggesting replacements for the kid. Obviously an agenda here.

Over the top and totally unnecessary.

Very different situation than the one last week.

Quote from: Nescacman on September 26, 2024, 11:04:33 AMWe have to defend ourselves here....our commentary on the former Hartford State all-league QB were mostly (and obviously) tongue-in-cheek. He was a very talented player who led the Bants to championships and many wins in the NESCAC. We were, at times, critical of some of his non-playing behaviors (as others on this Board were) but frankly, in retrospect, they were probably more out of his passion for the game and desire to win. Kudo's to him. He was a great player. BTW, we have been in touch directly with Spencer and have told him that directly. We hope to have him on our podcast at some point in the future.

We do think the post directed at the Ephs offensive lineman was over the top and inappropriate.

C'mon now Nescacman... this seems like a bit of revisionist history. There are more than a few examples of you singling out Fetter, calling him soft and questioning his toughness and leadership. These didn't come off as tongue-in-cheek to me then or now. Glad to hear you've patched things up with Spencer. I give him credit for not holding comments like these against you:

Quote from: Nescacman on November 14, 2023, 09:19:40 PMWay better (and tougher) than Fetter, IOO.

Quote from: Nescacman on October 12, 2023, 11:50:10 PMWe know that some of the Hartford State lovers out there will take offense to this but we are not a fan of Spencer Fetter. Fetter clearly benefits from being surrounded year after year by the most offensive talent in the league and consistently one of the best o-lines in the league. We've said it before and we'll say it again. After watching him in person numerous times, we think he's "SAWFT", he does not like getting hit, and we don't appreciate the way he treats his teammates. We also don't appreciate public comments he has made towards the competition (go do a Google search if you want to see for yourself). Our opinion, put Fetter in Clinton, Lewiston, or Waterville, and he would be mediocre at best. Put Kenny Gray in Hartford and he would have been a legend. We'll take a tough SOB (and good teammate) like Maimaron, Estevez, Gray, Ollie, Coyne et al any day of the week over a guy like Fetter. Tough guy to root for if you ask us.

As a long time lurker and first time poster on the boards, thank you for showing where I could've been confused in my earlier remarks. I have seen similar rhetoric directed at other players, and viewed my statements more so as controversial than out of line. Trin9-0 Seems to have receipts that explain why I thought my discourse was acceptable albeit be a little bit rough on the individual player.

Nescacman

Hs9-o our friend...Once again....our opinion at the time and as we said, tongue-cheek (as many of our comments are). We don't expect you to get the joke, after all, you attended a state school in Hartford. ha-ha. It's sort of like claiming championships for a league that didn't exist...  ;)

Seems like a bit of a cop out response from Nescacman...

Taking a step away from the Nescacman/Trin9-0 beef for a moment, I want to talk about an aspect of the Williams team that, in my opinion, has played a massive role in their 2-0 start. Obviously, the QB play and stout defense is always critical when examining a team's current and potential success, but their special teams unit has been sensational too. In their opening game against Hamilton, their punt and kickoff unit had some great, field changing plays. A massive hit by #36 Beaubien on punt really set the tone for the rest of the game. Watching the Williams team celebrate this hit, and the Hamilton squad look defeated, it seemed to me that this play by Beaubien, albeit rather minor, played a major role in the overall game. Their kicker, Ivan Shuran, has been lights out on kickoffs and field goals/PAT. Additionally, Leonardo Maiuolo (Williams Punter) is second in punting average, something that is - obviously - crucial in flipping the field and changing momentum. I was worried about how they were going to replace their previous punter, Tim Brown (widely known for being a penalty drawing magician), but it seems that Maiuolo has suppressed any of my further doubts.

Not sure anyone else has noticed but the football statistics at nescac.com are "broken". For example, on the team statistics pages, some teams are being shown as having played 3 games vs. 2. On the individual leader pages, some teams are excluded. We sent a message to the manager of the nescac.com website, Sidearm Sports, and hopefully they fix it soon.

I miss the days when we could click on posters' profiles and see their email addresses, so we could easily identify which disgruntled family member was promoting a grudge against a player who they believed was unjustly ahead of their son/nephew/cousin on the depth chart.

Amen...hey nescac1, where's our friend Spring...is he OK?

lumbercat

Well said N1----And when you want to push your son as the guy that should replace the Williams lineman be careful to disguise the true motive and agenda by mentioning another kid who also would be an able candidate for the OL spot so it looks more objective.

Alive and well! Brief Ephs analysis - McHugh good, front 7 good, skill group passable, secondary the x factor. Sounds like good Mark Raymond football to me. Hope it rains tomorrow

Great to hear from you old friend and glad you are well! Check out this week's podcast with Coach Raymond. We think you'll really enjoy it. Had a nice pre-call discussion with him about our old mutual friend, Renzie, as well. Hope to see you in Middletown for the annual tilt with your brothers. We have a stogie with your name on it. NM
