Solid win for the Panthers in VT. The defense played great again despite being on the field a lot on a hot day. They came up with a few big sacks in the second half and were a toe-tap catch on the last play of the game away from a second half shutout. I'd like to see some more sustained drives on offense, but they made big plays when it mattered. QB Brian Moran is looking better each week, and backup Aidan Moss threw a sweet 27 yard TD on a 3rd down when Moran was sidelined for a play with a bloody nose.

I also want to shoutout WR Patrick Jamin for the huge day, as well as freshman Punter Ty Brinkmann, who hit some monster kicks in a game where field position had a big impact.

Interesting scores across the board today, it's any given Saturday in this league. The next 6 weeks will be fun.

The Ghost of John Wesley

Unbelievably frustrating game to watch and incredibly disappointing on the heels of the Midd and Tufts wins. Felt like my head was going to explode this afternoon. Oof.

I know it's hard to be consistently good every week for an entire season. But this is a nine week season, and Wes almost always finds a way to drop a game like this against a team they should beat 95 times out of 100. I don't even know what to say at this point.

Hats off to Bates. Those kids were incredibly pumped. And they should be. A huge win for that team. That will be a fun bus ride home.

Well now the hype for the Little Three can start on this board. There's still that, I guess. ::)

How bout those polar bears! Hats off to Rob Long. Guy looked like Mike Vick out there.

Watched the Bates-Wesleyan game, and I still can't decide who looked & sounded flatter - Wesleyan on the field or Nescacman on the telecast.... :)

Nescacman

Congratulations to our friend, Coach Matt Coyne, on UBates win today in Middletown. We'll have much more to say on this game and the rest of the action from today over the next day or so here and on our podcast. For now, hats off the Kitties who played hard today.
We're sure it's a happy ride back to the Lewiston Campus for UBates.

ROTMNG

31-10 projected win for the Cardinals. I think you meant UBates. A talented, young, and hungry Bobcat squad gave Wesleyan their classic random bad loss. Signature win for Coyne in the CAC!

When you're a struggling program there are still kids in the mix who can really play but amid losses they get overlooked.

Today for Bates Soph LB Ryan Rozich introduced himself to the NESCAC on the big stage in Middletown- check the film. He is a playmaker with a nose for the football and he hits like a Mack truck.
RB Ryan Lynskey is now going to be a recognized name in the league. 2 TDs today, he has quietly emerged as the league leading rusher.
CB Michael Spencer is a shutdown cover guy who is a great tackler and consistently makes plays on D.

These are all conference players and they are Sophomores.

Thank you for recognizing Ty!

Here are highlights of Bowdoin's 28-21 win over Hamilton. Robbie Long was excellent at QB for Bowdoin, with 3 nice TD tosses. Hamilton was very game and hang on until the end. Noteworthy is that the reigning NESCAC ROTY, Luke Kurzum, was chased from the game in the early going after throwing a bad interception on the goal line. He was replaced by junior Henry Rubey, who acquitted himself reasonably well.

The Third Division

I don't follow the NESCAC very much but I have to ask this one question. If bates is a team which beat a team which beat a team which were conference co-champions, is it indicative of this being the most random conference in d3 football?

NescacNewbie

By the looks of the Maine teams so far thru game 3, the CBB could be interesting. First game this weekend on Mayflower Hill under the lights!

One could say that the league is very balanced overall and that no one is that much better than other because they play by the same rules. Another person might say that everyone is pretty average and no one is really that good.

Can't really say there is parity in NESCAC when Trinity is 28-2 in its last 30 games with one flukey loss and only one convincing loss and with maybe five or six wins that were still contested games down the stretch.  Anything fewer than 8 wins once again this year would be a surprise.  Kind of the elephant in the room.  But 2-10 this year does seem wide open based on the confusing results to date.

Agreed on Koy Price - think he should be the favorite for dpoy. needs to switch his eye black style up though it's pretty weird
