Who from that team still has eligibility? Anybody with a covid year is gone

Maybe one day we will understand that no one who has played 4 years of NESCAC football gets a magic 5th year of eligibility.

Transferring to a D1 program sounds great if you're going to play but I think the degree from a NESCAC school is better off in the long run. Being a WR7 on New Mexico State vs WR1 at Wes probably won't enhance your resume. Now if you can be a WR2 at Notre Dame then Go Irish!

Quote from: Bucket on November 09, 2024, 07:37:43 PMCongrats to the Cardinals. After seeing them struggle mid-season—after the epic beatdown of my Panthers—I gave them no shot of winning a title.

Hats off to Wes.

Agreed, saw them play twice on live feed with the brutal homer crew . Mediocre at best would be how I described them. Clearly a down year in league with no " great" squad  and they took advantage of their opportunities .

Just brutal Berluti couldn't snatch a title during his time . Hats off to a generational player.

I do love the "mediocre" trolling and "down year" rationale. Totally clownish, clearly a comment by a non-player. I will now berate all with some more relevant stats about the senior class from Wesleyan. Went 26-10 (3-1 records versus 7 teams, 4-0 vs Hamilton and 1-3 vs Trinity). First consecutive Little 3 Titles since 1970 and first 3-peat since 1946-48 in addition to the school's first outright football title. And a shout out to BantChamp as well--how does it feel to lose 2 of the last 3 at The Poop? This class helped take the program up another level. I have to somewhat agree with Charlie that the "Big 3" are now Trinity, Wesleyan and Middlebury. Cards and Pants have supplanted Williams and Amherst in the hierarchy based on recent results. However, given the competitive balance in the NESCAC that has been discussed here, things could change quickly next year as there are no easy victories. Now that my son's playing career is over, the gloves are off....

Mole/Joe...congrats to your son (and his teammates) on an amazing season and stepping up big time in the final game of his Wesleyan career...true leadership. He's my pick for NESCASC DPOTW for wreaking havoc inside all day yesterday, helping shut down the Hartford State running game, and putting pressure on the HS QB resulting in numerous sacks and QB hurries.

And thank you to you (and the other parents) for your (and Megan's) unwavering support of Wesleyan Football. Your passion, tailgating/cooking prowess, and getting our new mascot, "Bucky", into the mix took us over the top. It's been an unbelievable ride.

Roll Cards!

Great day NM! Special day for the program, players, parents, coaches and alums. I cannot wait for the season ending podcast.

Buc'ee is the unofficial team mascot. For those of you familiar with the highway stop of the same name, based in Texas. My good friend from San Antonio bought a plastic inflatable of Buc'ee beaver to the Colby game. LB Jake Edwards, from Rockwall TX scored the winning TD in overtime in that game and designated him the team good luck charm. He appeared at all of the tailgates and finished with a record of 5-0. Buc'ee has been handed off to another parent for next year to continue the tradition.

NM, the turducken yesterday was lights out. Thanks for the kinds words. #ROLLCARDS

With all due respect to Wesleyan, Middlebury, and Trinity (the champs or co champs from the last 3 years), it does seem kind of hard to believe that Tufts couldn't steal a share of a title from the Berluti era. No true all-time dominant team in the last two seasons. Trinity in 2022 was very good but they lost to them by 3 (am aware the game was not as close as the score looked). Just constantly a play away. 5 teams have won titles in the last 9 seasons as well and they have been in the mix just about the entire time

Exciting to see the progressions during the season. Bates went off, Colby and Bowdoin weren't easy outs, and Hamilton played everyone tough.
The league and players only get better as a whole when the parity is more even.
Hats off to all the players, coaches and parents for another great season.

Looking forward to post-Covid 2025 football already.

Civetti now has a winning career record of 56-55. They are the next program trying to "get over the hump." Consistently in the top half but trying to win a title.

More relevant, albeit "mediocre" stats to berate the peanut gallery with:

#1 scoring defense, total defense, redzone defense, opponents first downs, 3rd down conversions allowed, pass defense, fumbles recovered and yardage off them
#2 rushing defense and forced fumbles

Oh I've done no slinking Mole ol' buddy! I do love all of the Wesleyan fans taking their "victory lap" here, like they didn't just scrape by to get into this position. Typical Wes under-achieving mentality. Win by one on the last play of the game to a team that literally didn't feel the need to throw the ball against your "vaunted" defense. Anyone who watched the game (and the scoops "collective" was there in person) knows that Wesleyan had no business winning that game. But here you are Cards fans. Congrats to you for just barely making the cut. Should be a fun game to watch, although I think the outcome will be obvious. Is it possible to have BOTH teams lose? I think the majority of posters here would rather that than anything
