Not sure about the punter but I have no doubt Coach Raymond would go to bat for Ivan. He's a senior and has been lights out for four years.

Agreed on the Williams kicker;he was outstanding. But do they give it to the kid who had most fgs( and misses) in league batting a very mediocre 70pct? Who knows. As I said , its not scientific. Some of the specialist selections have been even more absurd than that example through the years

nescac1

Well the argument was much ado about nothing as all-conference has been posted and both Eph specialists were honored.

Coaches did a very good job overall with one exception - Berlutti over Zebrowski at first team QB I just don't see.  From a Williams perspective, the seven guys I predicted would make it all did so, so I'm pleased with that.

Congratulations to the players and coaches and thank you for an exciting season of college football.
One that is a headscratcher to me is Zebrowski not making 1st Team or having co- 1st Team QBs.
He lead the No. 1 Offense in the CAC and his stats are clearly the best. Life is not always fair, but for any players who feel slighted, use that as motivation for next season and for life.  Thank you NM for your coverage this year and all that you do to recognize these amazing student athletes, and coaches.

Absolutely BS for Shuran to not get first team. Obviously an amazing (perfect) season for Jumes as well, but when comparing the stats there is really no argument for Jumes over Shuran. Shuran 9/9 FGs with makes from 47,44,43,37 while going 29/29 on xps. Jumin 7/7 FGs with a long of just 34 and 37/37 on xps. Shuran also hit multiple big time pressure kicks whenever Raymond turned to him. This is either complete Trinity bias by the league or an unacceptable oversight. Obviously Trinity had a better season and therefore will have more all league guys, but when it comes to kickers Shuran quite literally did everything in his power to help the Ephs and was a deep range weapon the NESCAC rarely (if ever) has seen. Putting Jumes above Shuran is an indefensible, idiotic example of malpractice and laziness by the coaches and league to rob Shuran of the recognition he deserves from the lifetime of work he has put in. To wave this aside by saying "eh, who cares, they're just kickers" or that since worse decisions have been made in the past this is ok is pathetic.

Very eloquently put, Mr. David L. Smith

Completely agree with this take DL. Shuran really showed his manhood with those deep shots that were critical points in close game situations. The consistency is absolutely there and I can't imagine what the league was thinking on this snub

As Nescacman alluded to in another post, it seems as though certain players are chosen based on "lifetime career achievements" rather than an individual year which is how it should work.  Certainly seems to be the case in Berlutti and Jumes being picked.

Bantam4life

Congratulations to all those named all-league. A great honor for all these young men. Obviously disagree with the Berluti over Zebrowski first-team pick. We thought Zebrowski should have been Offensive Player of the year as well but congrats to Wilson, he was the best player on the best team. That usually satisfies the criteria for the award. Back to the first team QB debate. Not sure how you can confidently say that Berluti (while a fine player who had an amazing career) had anywhere the caliber season as Zebrowski or even Candido for that matter. Zebrowski was statistically much better in every aspect and we felt that Berluti had been better in previous seasons. Feels like this award was maybe given out as a career recognition award instead of a 2024 season award.

Wait, is Bantam4Life, like NescacMan, now a consortium of posters?

But in all events, I agree with Bantam4life and the other posters above that Zebrowski and Shuran lost out to lifetime achievement type awards despite having demonstrably better seasons.  At least, however, they did make the all-league teams.  Other than that, though, hard to quibble with the coaches' selections this year ...

Notably, only two underclassmen on the entire first team, which has to be a record low number.  Richardson as reported here is already looking to transfer up, and Bates fans will I imagine be holding their breadth about Lynskey.   No matter what, next year's all-league teams are going to look dramatically different.

I heard that they used dominion voting machines when casting all league votes can anybody confirm this?

nescac1

By my quick count, Trinity returns only four of 12 all-league players and most of the rest of the league return 2-3.  Wesleyan returns only one!  NESCAC looks wide open next year.

Ephs1

Interestingly Shurich was a 1st teamer as a freshman so at least he has experienced what it feels like. He had a great career and will be much missed next season. Let's hope the new kicker fills in as well the new punter did.

RobertDunn7

In the spirit of "way too early" NFL mock drafts, I'd like to share some predictions for "way too early" all-league players heading into the 2025 season. One name that immediately stands out is Williams TE/WR Jimmy Montesano.

Montesano, who will be a sophomore next year, has the potential to be a dominant force in the league. This season, the Ephs primarily used him as a red-zone target, often lining him up as a traditional tight end with his hand in the dirt. At 6'5" and 220 pounds, Montesano has the size and athleticism to become a major threat on the perimeter if the Ephs transition him into more of a traditional jump-ball receiver role.

There's a lot of exciting young talent on this Ephs squad, and Montesano is poised to be a standout.
