Quote from: nescac1 on January 13, 2025, 06:09:40 AMOne guess at next year's QB picture.  Definitely a lot of turnover and presumably a lot of competition at the position.  Some of these, especially Tufts, Trinity and Wesleyan, are wildly speculative, so more informed folks may have better intel.  * = returning starter:

Amherst - Marek Hill* (Mason Morrow also returns but Hill seems like the guy)

Bates - Seneca Moore

Colby - Miles Drake*

Bowdoin - Peter Macauley (Michael Wolfendale also in mix)

Hamilton - Luke Kurzum* (Henry Rubey also will get snaps, it seems)

Middlebury - Brian Moran*

Trinity - Jake Robbins (listed as a senior, but WVU transfer has a year of eligibility left)

Tufts - Hudson Weidman (Justin Keller also in the mix and will at least get snaps as a wildcat QB)

Wesleyan - Chase Wilson (Cooper Tyszko also in the mix)

Williams - Owen McHugh* (as discussed, Johansen, a rising soph, or a FY could also be in the mix)

Anyone else have different thoughts??

Speaking on behalf of the Cardinals...

Although we wish reigning NESCAC OPOTY Chase Wilson was coming back to Middletown for the 2025 campaign (he is following in the footsteps of fellow Wes WR standout Logan Tomlinson to UNH) he is most certainly not a QB (although Logan, interestingly, was).

N1, we believe that you were referring to Soph QB Chase Vaughan as the presumptive starter for the defending league champs headed into 2025 season. Chase has seen some action for the Cards and started over Eph Starter Owen McHugh in HS. Sophomore signal caller Matt Fitzsimons from Somers, NY also saw action in 2025 and will also be in the mix. We are bullish on both of them as well as some of the other young QBs that Wes has on their roster.

Milton High has been a pipeline to the Cac lately with last 3 QB's

Chase Vaughn - Wes
Owen McHugh - Wil
Patrick Miller - Col

Don't overlook Ryan Rozich- Bates. Rising Jr. 83 tackles 1st in conference.

ItsATuftSituation

Ty Richardson has transferred to UC Davis. Was announced on their Twitter recently. Tough loss for Jumbos.

NESCACFball24/7

Massive loss for the jumbos. Tall task for civetti and company to not only replace him but also replace Timmins at the other corner spot next year.

A side note that I found interesting from my brief google search, It seems like UC Davis may not only be a football upgrade but an academic one as well with it being ranked above Tufts in many of the national rankings I came across.

I'm not sure where you saw that, but I don't see it on Richardson's Twitter account?

Good for the kid. Makes sense for him given his California roots, and that program at UC Davis is pretty good too. Sucks for the jumbos though. Definitely a major loss, especially in a year that they lose Timmins as well to graduation. I think that means they lose their entire starting secondary if I'm not mistaken? I know they were senior heavy last season at the position, and it doesn't look like they have a lot of younger guys that played a ton. They've been good against the pass the last couple of years, will be interesting to see if they can overcome those guys leaving.

Good for Ty.  And a late Christmas present for the QB's of the Cac, but Tufts will probably reload.

Loads of NESCAC transfers to keep an eye on once again next year:

Chase Wilson - New Hampshire
Jaden Richardson - USC (in his second year there; they lose four receivers in the portal so maybe he will get some more game action)
Wesley Abraham - Furman
William Aaronson - Marist
Ty Richardson - UC Davis

And Chartellis Reece and Rickey Eng are both currently in the portal.  Not sure if I'm missing anyone!

That's a lot of Tufts and Wesleyan guys who have moved up or are looking to do so.  Both, I'm sure, will reload given how much talent they have been bringing in, but between that and losing multiple-year all-league starters at QB, as well as many other impact seniors (especially for Wesleyan), both teams will feature dramatically different personnel and potentially schemes next season.

No surprises here. 2025 looks to be an interesting year with so much turnover in the league, particularly at the signal-caller position. 2025 could be one of the most wide-open seasons in recent memory in the NESCAC.

Hello fellow NESCAC lovers,

There is currently a coalition of athletes who are pushing for the NESCAC to allow teams to go to the playoffs, and we need your help. We have created a Twitter page and posted a petition to change the league's rules to allow the NESCA C to finally be given our fair shot. If anyone has any connections at NESCAC schools, including but not limited to SAAC representatives, administration, etc please DM this Twitter account and let us know so we can all watch an NESCAC team in the playoffs next year!

Definitely interested in helping in this regard. DM me on X/Twitter to talk more? Was just talking with a NESCAC coach today about how we can help.
