Kid is looking good. Did he play much center at Mid?

He played almost exclusively guard and one game at tackle. He only started training at center a month or two ago because of his height compared to other NFL prospects.

The Middlebury coaching staff is down in Texas this week watching him get ready for the Shrine Bowl (which is Thursday). TP would be just the second Middlebury grad to go to the NFL and the first to do it directly from Vermont.

Great to see Perry getting it done on behalf of the NESCAC...it's a long-shot but we're rooting for him. Looking forward to seeing him play in the game. And great job by Coach Doug and the Middlebury Coaching staff supporting their guy. That's what the NESCAC is all about.

On a separate note....we realize this isn't the D3 hoops board but our beloved Cardinals mens hoops team is still undefeated after beating Hartford State on Saturday (19-0...the only undefeated D3 team in the country) and are now ranked #1 in the country for the first time. Big game this Friday against the #9 ranked Jumbo's at Wes. #rollcards

I heard rumors that the NCAA could potentially allow players 5 years of athletic eligibility across all sports. This is under serious consideration and could be implemented in under a year. Does anyone know how this would affect the NESCAC landscape if at all ?

Congratulations to Vaughn Seelicke (Tufts) and the newly formed NESCAC Football Players Association ("NESCACFBPA").

He has formed an organization comprised of student-athlete representatives from all 10 NESCAC football playing schools. They will advocate on behalf of NESCAC football student-athletes. First item on the agenda is petitioning the NESCAC Presidents to get the NESCAC to participate in the D3 play-offs. Other agenda items will include roster sizes and out-of-league games.

We will feature Vaughn and the NESCACFBPA on an upcoming special winter episode of our 9 Weeks NESCAC Podcast. Stay tuned!

If anything I think it means many more NESCAC grad transfers up to the division 1 level in the near future considering only a handful of NESCAC schools actually have grad programs to support a given athletes 5th year.

It is worth noting that the three NESCAC schools that have grad programs (Trinity, Tufts, and Wesleyan) are three of the top four programs in the league.

It's an absolutely massive advantage to have grad programs already and it would be compounded x3 if the new policy went into effect.  These are also three schools which are clearly emphasizing athletics to begin with (Tufts and Wesleyan were dramatically different in terms of overall athletics success prior to around the last 10-15 years, even if Tufts was always sleeping giant).  The only way for the rest of the league to level the playing field would be to allocate more TIPS to football to compensate.  But I doubt any have the appetite to do so.

Midd is the outlier for sure.  Great coaching, great system, almost always have a very good QB.  But also getting two generational linemen in the same class may be a bit of a black swan event. Will be interesting to see just how much of an impact the loss of Kenary and Perry (Filias too, who's not far behind) will have ...

Additional kudos to Middlebury's Perry from todays article in The Athletic about players who impressed at the Shrine Bowl:

And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Division III Middlebury center Thomas Perry — or "Thomas the Tank," as offensive line trainer Duke Manyweather calls him. Simply put, he is one of the strongest players in this draft class. His college tape is dominant (as it should be against that level of competition), which made Shrine practices paramount for NFL teams taking him seriously as a potential draft pick.

Perry didn't disappoint, more than holding his own against SEC and ACC defensive linemen. His game resembles a more athletic version of A.Q. Shipley, and he can make it in the NFL with his talent and work ethic.

From another writer:

Perry is another guy I wanted to watch again but found it difficult — not because he struggled or anything, but because most of what you see is him just completely overpowering DIII competition to the point where it sometimes looks like high school tape. Perry also has a length problem and might be a center-only on some boards. But if this guy gets a combine invite, he'll challenge the bench-press record.

Wesleyan has some real steller student athletes. Will Aaronson holds a 4.12 gpa as a biochemestry and moleular biology major. True snub for academic all american

TheBoyfromBrunswick

Wesleyan continues to be a Division 1 factory. In the last 4 Years:

Justin Johnson OL '22 (William and Mary)
Nick Helbig DT '23 (Wake Forest)
Logan Tomlinson WR '23 (New Hampshire)
Wesley Abraham CB '25 (Furman)
Chase Wilson WR '25 (New Hampshire)
Will Aaronson OL '25 (Marist)

Is there any other school in the league who have had more division 1 transfers? what a run Dicenzo's cardinals have been on!
