The truth 101

Quote from: TheBoyfromBrunswick on January 30, 2025, 03:12:18 PMWesleyan continues to be a Division 1 factory. In the last 4 Years:

Justin Johnson OL '22 (William and Mary)
Nick Helbig DT '23 (Wake Forest)
Logan Tomlinson WR '23 (New Hampshire)
Wesley Abraham CB '25 (Furman)
Chase Wilson WR '25 (New Hampshire)
Will Aaronson OL '25 (Marist)

Is there any other school in the league who have had more division 1 transfers? what a run Dicenzo's cardinals have been on!
The only one virtually close to Wesleyan I believe is Tufts with Phil Lutz, the Richardson brothers and Josh Meriwether who plays at Tennessee State. Shout-out to both the coaching staffs at those schools for the development of those great players.

Scoops

A D1 school taking a Wesleyan OL is pretty funny. 63 sacks allowed over the last two seasons. Someone in the Marist scouting department must know something we don't...

But yes, Tufts and Middlebury are the only other schools in the league with a significant number of grad transfers. Tufts also had 2 kickers who went on to Duke. Midd has Donovan Wood at USC, and Cole Kennon at Missouri, and of course Hauschka who went on to a successful NFL career. Will be interesting to see how many D1s start recruiting the league given the recent run of success. It's also curious that so many guys are falling through the cracks. How did the ivy/patriot/pioneer schools whiff on these kids?

How many offensive line positions is Aaronson responsible for?

We thought he looked pretty good and actually caught a pass on a "center screen" (no joke). Let's see how he does at the combine, if he gets an invite. He's a strong kid so he'll do (very) well in the bench.

Marist Coach Hallenbeck was on the Wes staff for two years ('21 and '22) and also works Coach Mangini's camp. He knows Will pretty well. Marist and Wes have a strong working relationship as a result of those connections.

Word out of Lewiston is that the Frisky Kitties are going to give 2nd Team All-NESCAC WR Sergio Beltran a shot at QB in 2025. He was dynamic in 2025 (and 2024) both running and catching the ball. Our understanding is that he played QB in HS at the Menlo School in the Bay Area so the position is not totally new to him. Beltran could be a force running the flex option for the Kitties along side OPOTY candidate Ryan Lynskey. Interesting development.

Also trying to put Donovan wood and Cole Kenn on in the same class of grad transfer as Helbig or Richardson is kind of ridiculous. Both middlebury guys are walk ons at their new schools. Helbig and Richardson both were offered full scholarship. Not to knock the accomplishments of wood or Kennon because I've heard nothing but good things about both but I feel like that distinction needs to be made. Wood had a pwo  from sacred heart and was set to go to Marist before deciding to walk on at SC while Richardson had 20+ scholarship offers. Kennon I believe had a walk on opportunity from Mizzou but picked Duke instead while Helbig had Multiple FBS scholarship offers as well.

Coach Coyne looking to deploy the Wesleyan QB scheme from a few years ago. The 2 headed monster approach to the QB position a la Estevez and Candido. Open backfield approach, brutal to prepare for and play against.
Moore and Beltan the fastest and most athletic on the Bobcat roster.

Hmmmm....not sure if the combo of Moore/Beltran=Estevez/Candido. We're from Missouri on that one....guess we'll see.

Similar scheme different players- might work very well in Lewiston. Should be fun to watch.

LochNescac

Was curious about Beltrand...did a quick check of his senior year's stats out in Cali as the starting quarterback...I'd say Bates should be just fine with him throwing the ball a tad...!

Very nice body of work.

Well above average...for HS, exceptional.

Have the final recruiting list been made public yet for the NESCAC. I have not seen Trinity , Middlebury or Colby and a few others final list and numbers

NESCAC schools cannot release incoming recruits until 5/1.
