Williams was crushing Amherst at the half (27-0).

Bowdoin managed to salvage a bit of the season by knocking off Colby 13-10 (and winning the CBB for the first time in 8 or so years).

37-7, Williams.  Up 27-0 at the half, the Ephs basically mailed the entire second half in.  What an impressive team.  Just monsters at almost every position.  Congrats on 8-0.

Congrats to Williams.  Forgive me for my transgression, for it was about Trinity8(5)0.

Congrats to Williams on making the post season!
To succeed, one must be creative and persistent.  John H. Johnson

Congrats to the Ephs on an amazing year -- so much for my prediction of a close game.  Williams just had too much talent at the offensive skill positions.  I am sure NESCAC has never seen a better group of receivers all in one class than Fulmer, Drenckhan, O'Leary (and Egizi, a good player who was injured this year).  14 in a row for the Ephs ... and the last 13 of those were never in doubt.

Most end of season awards are no-brainers this year, Lucey OPY (athough Leo is a close second), Ryan DPY (Moffie a close second), Rauh (who is gonna be a superstar in the league) as ORY, with Gregg from Bates deserving mention.  Fulmer, Lucey, Kenney, O'Leary, and Drenckhan are all locks for first-team NESCAC on offense, as are Leo and Hannon.

As for next year, Trinity and Williams should fight it out once again.  Trinity is on the kind of roll Williams ended last season on, and with very few losses of significance outside of Leo, and getting the Ephs at home, they will return to the favorite role next year.   Williams' defense should be as good or better next year with lots of great players returning on the front seven (4-5 lb's who got time and 5 DL who got time), and the Ephs always reload rs in the secondary (Batty is the next all-leaguer there).  The Ephs will not have as much explosive ability on offense with all those superstar wideouts graduating, but they should be more balanced with Morrissey, Flynn,  and most of the offensive line back.  Amherst has two of the best backs in the league with Rauh and NeSmith but they will have huge question marks in the passing game and in particular at QB.  Middlebury will return to earth as they sustain heavy losses on both sides of the ball as well as the hyped kicker.

Unless the POYs have already been named, I don't think Lucey is a no-brainer.  Leo led more statistical categories.  If the thinking of the voters is, "who is most valuable to his team?", Trinity needed Leo more than Williams needed Lucey.   Just my $0.02

wow, what a year, mos t fun I have ever had in my life and what a gift to be able to see my kid dress for each game. !-7 could of been 4-4 , no negatives from my view, class everywhere and if middlebury is not the most beuatiful place I do not know what is./ Now on to next year, the names of kayce walker and ryan should be remembered for class , dignity and hard work. Hope some more kids from the sunshine state journey up to maine , as for next year , only can hope everyone stays healthy. Last word the hauska kid should walk on for my jets we need some help in the big city (nugent???)

dirtybirds30-0

Great season for Williams...the offensive production was amazing!  Trinity will have a good chance of retaining the title next year.  We were to young to beat Williams this year.  It will be interesting to see how the post season honors shake out.

Chess, glad you enjoy the experience.  You have a great outlook.  Best of luck going into next season.

Trin9-0

Fells: I knew Wes couldn't score against the Bants. I think the Cards crossed the 50 yard line twice. Congrats to Williams, they definately proved they were the best team in the league winning all of their games in convincing fashion. However, I think the Bants would give them a much better game if they were to play again.

chessdoc: Good to see the boy get a win. I wish him the best of luck the rest of his career. Make sure he gets his teammates in the weightroom and on the track in the off-season.

I think BVHawk is having a little bit of fun at our expense.

A final congrats to the Trin seniors who finish their careers with a final record of 31-1. Happy Festivus!

Trin,

I have to say you had me on Wesleyan. I thought the local boy in Zach Librizzi would be able to at least pull one score out of his hat.

Williams to Host Union in the playoffs this saturday at 12:00.

Wouldn't that be cool?

I would just like to see the NESCAC finally agree to allow its football teams to go to the playoffs!! This is something that has been a source of contention with me, and I REALLY think it needs to be changed. Think about it, the rest of the sports can play in the post season, many have the same academic traditions as do the NESCAC, yet they can go to the post season. I just don't get it, and I think it is hurting the conference in many ways.

By the way, I would LOVE to see Williams go up against anyone in D-3. They were simply dominant this year and I really think they could go far in the tournament.

Just my two cents; after all, I am a writer, I do these things.
