If Alcala is good he'll get a shot at competing for a job early on, as the Ephs return only two QB's, both rising sophomores with very limited experience.  Seems like he is a big pocket passer type, the two QB's on the roster are a running QB and a hybrid run/pass type like Lucey, so it will be an interesting battle of styles.    Obviously no one can replace a guy like Lucey, but whoever gets the job will at least have a very talented and experienced group of receivers / tight ends to throw to, led by Ryan Powell.

Dick Farley used to say that the time to play freshmen was when they became sophomores.

If you want action, someone has to mock Trinity's educational standards, haha.  No, please don't!

D Coordinator Walsh moves on from Tufts....from their site:

"Walsh brought an intensity to coaching defense that helped the Jumbo Football produce many nationally ranked statistics during his seven-year tenure. He coached several All-American defenders, including career interceptions leader Evan Zupancic. As recruiting coordinator, Walsh directed the construction of a Jumbo team that many believe is currently one of the most talented groups in recent team history. A 1997 graduate of Amherst College, Walsh will work under his college coach Jack Siedlecki at Yale."

Great coach & a good guy........good luck.

Walsh is a great coach and a great recruiter. He always had his guys ready to play us. Talking with Tufts guys they really liked him as a coach. Big loss for Tufts, but congratulations to coach Walsh on the new job.

Middlebury grad Steve Hauschka signed a free agent contract with the Vikings.

In the month of May the VFW distributes Buddy Poppies.  Please take time to give a dollar and take a poppy.  The proceeds of this go to aid the Disabled Vets

In Flander's Field
by John McCrae
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow,
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky,
The larks, still bravely singing, fly,
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead.
Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved and now we lie,
In Flanders Fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw,
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us, who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields.

"In the end we will survive rather than perish not because we accumulate comfort and luxury but because we accumulate wisdom"  Colonel Jack Jacobs US Army (Ret).

No - it's borderline against the NESCAC rules, which prohibit the release of the names of recruits to the media.

This sounds like it may have been an email to Hamilton football supporters that was reposted on this blog, in which case that would not be a rules violation.

Should be the most wide open and competitive season in NESCAC in years next year -- Trinity loses a ton of talent on both lines after a mildly disappointing year, but still is loaded at several positions and returns a top quarterback.  Middlebury is probably the team to beat after winning a conference title and returning most of the key skill position guys plus returns the ROY QB, but it was decimated with big losses on defense.  Williams brings back many of its key players from the most dominant team in the league by season's end, and has easily the best group of skill guys in the conference, but losing a conference POY at QB with no experienced replacement will be tough.  This could be the year Amherst finally breaks through as it returns more key guys than anyone else in the league and should have a dominant running game and improved QB play to match an always-solid defense.  Those four plus Tufts should battle it out ...
