I don't profess to know these things, but why would that break any "rules"?  At this point, those kids are no longer recruits.   They have paid their deposits to enroll this fall.

There is a NESCAC rule that prohibits the release of the names of recruits to the media. I happen to think that it is a very silly rule as it is intended to pretend that recruiting does not exist in the NESCAC when of course it does.

Regardless of the payment of deposits, these recruits are not technically enrolled - that would happen when they show up on campus in late August. As another poster pointed out, the Hamilton names were probably sent to Hamilton alumni by the coach and then published on the athletic advisor website by one of those alums so it's probably not a violation of the rules.

NESCAC has a host of silly rules and some worse than that.

Have I found the most qualified assistant d3 coach in the country?

Pete Carmichael Tufts University defensive backs coach

Carmichael brings 45 years of coaching experience to the Jumbos, including 10 in the National Football League. He was an offensive assistant with the Chicago Bears from 2001-03, the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in 2000 and receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1994-99. Carmichael has also held major college jobs at Boston College (1981-93), the University of Pittsburgh (2004-06) and at Louisiana Tech University (2007). He has head coaching experience at the small college level with stints at Trenton State and Merchant Marine Academy. Carmichael, whose son Peter is the quarterbacks coach for the New Orleans Saints, will work as the defensive backs coach at Tufts

When do the rosters typically come out? I looked through all the teams and saw only Hamilton and Wesleyan is out.

I know its early but any preseason predictions on how the league is going to shake out this year? Rosters usually go up sometime after the first week of traning camp which starts the 25th for most people.

Did Trinity cancel their season?   ;)

I'm guessing they'll end up as one of the top 3 teams. Playing Tufts, Midd, and Amherst at home should be a big help considering it's been 6 years since Trin lost a game in "The Coop".  If the O-line can get the job done 7-1 isn't out of the question for the Bants. At Williams on 9/27 is their only tough road game.

My predictions are pretty similiar....

Tufts (went 5-3 last season should have beaten colby to be 6-2 and only lost to Midd in the NESCAC championship by 2 after missing two extra points)

Middlebury (Should have another strong year, lose Woodring which will hurt the defense)
Williams (Lucey is gone, enough said)
Trinity (Correct me if I'm wrong but they lose the majority of their oline and running back)
Amherst (quarterback issues will hurt them but they do have two stud running backs in Nesmith and Ruah)
Wesleyan
Colby
Hamilton
Bowdoin
Bates

wide open this year, any of five teams could stake a credible claim to be number one:

(1) Middlebury -- lost a lot on defense, but always seem to reload there, and return most of the key offensive parts including a QB who starred as a frosh last year.  Defending champion deserves respect.

(2) Amherst -- surprise pick from a Williams fan, but they have underachieved in recent years, return almost all of their key players on both sides of the ball, and should get much better play from the QB position with two experienced guys battling it out.   Great defense and running game is recipe for success.

(3) Williams -- best offensive line in the conference, stars at every skill position, but QB is a HUGE question mark.  If they get even average play out of that position, should challenge for first.  Defense is still solid despite some big losses.

(4) Trinity hard to put them fourth with best QB in league and tons of talent on defense, but losing nearly the entire O and D lines will be tough to overcome.

(5) Tufts solid once again, but as usual will struggle to consistently beat the other top teams

Not sure on the rest ...

I like Hamilton as the suprise this year.  And watch out for them to win week #1 against Amherst.

d3football.com has a "kickoff" subscription in which they preview each league and team in d3. Breaking down the Def, Off, stars, and suprise players of each team. Last year their predicitons were pretty accurate. The new preview comes out around aug 22nd check it out.

Pat Coleman

Actually Aug. 26, but still worth the investment, we think. Thanks for the plug!

Ooops my bad on trinity. I have them slotted behind Wesleyan. Lost a lot this year on their line.
