ERA's are up across the board this year I believe. The ASC team ERA's have spiked tremendously. I dont know if it is because the quality of arms has dropped, the hitting has gotten that much better, or a combination of the two. I think its a combination.
I think that the weather (especially the wind and the drought in west Texas) have made it more the batter's game.

Home runs just flew out of HSU's Hunter Field this weekend.

Ralph, is the weather i.e. the wind play that big a role at McMurray like it is at HSU?
Success is not fatal; Failure is not final; but the courage to continue is what counts!!!

The 1st base foul line points almost due south.  Winds from the southwest may blow from right to left.  Winds from the south south east blow in from right field.  I will defer to the batters who have experienced the winds at Driggers.

Does Chapman go with Kitchens on the hill today against Ithaca or so they wait until facing Kean on Saturday? Thoughts?

I see him going today and coming back next Wednesday for the second Kean game.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

I would say he does go today.  He went on friday and has 4 days rest.  I would figure they would go with Sigman on Sat. and back with Kitchens next wed.

Chapman snuffed out a Bridgewater rally in the sixth and held on to defeat the Eagles, 10-6, at Hart Park on Tuesday afternoon in Orange CA.

Chapman RHP pitcher Matt Irsfeld pitched to final 9 batters on Tuesday.

The righty retired the final nine Bridgewater batters in order, including six consecutive strikeouts. He finished with seven Ks in the three innings for his first save of the year

Matt has appeared in 8 games with ERA 2.00 9IP 12K  .188 B/AVG

Nice job of bouncing back for Sigman tonight.  His last time out he was shelled at Cal Lutheran.  Next up for Chapman are two game swith Kean.  SHould be some good ones!

If Chapman can get on a roll and take two from Kean, they could use that momentum to push back to their elite status after a rocky start (rocky by their own standards, anyway).

Chapman now 14 - 5. Solid win against Ithaca. Sigman looked sharp.

Next 2 games against Kean should be a measure of where Chapman is now

Next game 7 PM Saturday Kean @ Chapman at Hart Park, Orange CA.

That's great news if he can be a consistent closer. Heard he had some elbow issues, but if he bounces back and Chapman has a door shutter again, look out.

I finally added the ASC and SCAC schools to the mix.  Pretty interesting as it looks like all of the Texas schools are beating up on each other.

I realize there is still a lot of baseball to be played but the SCAC West needs to have a team win their conference tourney to get in.
