This... is a simple game. You throw the ball. You hit the ball. You catch the ball.  "There are three types of baseball players: those who make things happen, those who watch it happen, and those who wonder what happened."

Chapman over Redlands in the first of two games today in Orange. Pretty much knocking Redland's out of a Pool C bid.

Redlands took the second game. Chapman wins series 2-1.

The only West Region independent left is Chapman.

UDallas has accepted an invitation to join the SCAC, in time to fill the vacancy left by Depauw to the NCAC.

Menlo goes to NAIA.
LaSierra goes to NAIA.
CSU-East Bay has gone D-II.

Last year 4 Pool B bids overall for playoffs. Will that number go down again to (2 or 3) for 2011,  since there will be less teams in Pool B bid...Each year it gets tougher for Chapman as Pool B shrinks.  ???

The 8-member UMAC moves to Pool A in 2011 (and takes St Scholastica with it).

The NECC probably moves to Pool A in 2012, and takes 7 teams out of Pool B.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference goes various ways and may dump 8-10 schools into Pool B for 2 years (2012 and 2013).

Menlo going to NAIA in 2011 and UDallas joining the SCAC by 2012 move 2 from Pool B.  RIT leaves  the E8 for the LL in 2012.

I think there will be 3-4 Pool B bids in 2012.  The number should be "right on the cusp".

Menlo(now NAIA)
La Sierra(now NAIA)
UDallas(SCAC in 2011)

Nice to see that Chapman and Linfield are continuing their head to head matchups. That could be a heck of a mid April series.

Nice to see that Chapman and Linfield are continuing their head to head matchups. That could be a heck of a mid April series.

Last season Chapman and Linfield faced each other 5 times. Linfield winning 3 of the 5. Linfied is now one the elite programs in the West and the country. Linfield has been to Appleton, WI for the DIII Championship 2 of the last 4 years while Chapman has been there 3 of the last 4 years. Also these programs have 2 of the top DIII baseball coaches in the nation with ex-Yankee Boros at Linfield and Tereschuk at Chapman. Linfield is the most fundamentally sound and one of the best coached teams I have seen in the past 4 years at the DIII level.

For 2011 Linfield lost 8 seniors from 2010 and Chapman 5 seniors. It should be a great series in April and maybe a preview of the West Regionals. Hopefully the weather will be better than the last time Chapman played Linfield back in May in the West Regionals. Chapman returns 15 roster players along with its entire pitching staff which ranked as one of the top staff's in DIII in ERA. Chapman also returns 5 starters in the batting order.

With changes in the bats in 2011 to the new BBCOR bats which perform like wood both of these programs should excel because they emphasis is on pitching, defense, little ball.

Chapman continues to lose West Region opponents to play in baseball. This will be 9 games lost. Each year is getting more difficult to replace those games with quality West Region opponents.

It is critical that Chapman move to SCIAC or explore alternatives if not approved to join SCIAC

West Region opponents that are now gone or going
McMurry(announced intention to move to DII)
Cal State East Bay(now DII)
Menlo(now NAIA)
La Sierra(now NAIA)
