Chapman is down 9-1 in the 6th against Redlands.  No Kitchens for Chapman.

I know everyone jumps on me when I say this every week, but Chapman is in serious trouble right now. Even if Kitchens returns, he can't pitch every game of a regional.

Chapman has lost 4 in a row.  Will the Committee take into account how they finish.....strong finish or limp to the line?
The "last quarter" of the season is not used as a criterion by the committee.

Ralph, if that's the case, should they make it? They're a good team, but pitching is thin until they get Kitchens back.

Let me look at Regional Rankings next week.

I will look for 6 Pool B teams on that list to see if Chapman has a chance.

Thanks, Ralph, keep up the good work. Thought I'd need an MIT or Cal Tech player to figure it all out!

Big wins for Chapman and Redlands did not need that loss.

I have a feeling Chapman is going to play themselves right back into this thing.  They have beat the 2 best teams they had remaining on their schedule going into the weekend.

Chapman plays Univer of Dallas next weekend - they are also Independent.  Isn't Dallas in the mix??

University of Dallas record is 19-12-1. Not sure of its IN-Region Record.

Chapman needs to get by Menlo today before UofD and have teams like
Washington University lose also. Several teams in front of Chapman in Pool B must lose for Chapman to even have a chance at all.

I have UD at 12-12-1 in-region with only the Chapman games left to play.

I don't think CU played themselves closer to being in ... I thought they were in as the #5 Pool B after last week's regional rankings. After the top three or four Pool B's, they all have glaring flaws whether it's winning %, OWP, results against ranked teams, etc. A good OWP and playing regionally ranked teams, which CU has, and has done, is more important than most people think.
Consider this from my area:
No. 1 St. Thomas (15-5 in-region, 1-1 vs. CSS, 3-3 vs. ranked teams, .643 OWP)
No. 2 St. Scholastica (15-1 in-region, 1-1 vs. UST, 1-1 vs. ranked teams, .528 OWP)
UST had two losses to unranked teams (albeit teams that are far better than most teams on CSS's schedule), had four more in-region losses, and had a split against the region's #2. CSS had a .188 advantage in winning %, was was down .115 in OWP, and was well behind in results against ranked teams. Despite being compared to a team as strong as CSS, UST was allowed four more losses – even with that split DH – thanks to a tougher schedule. After UST stumbled this week, CSS will be the new Midwest #1. But it took a lot for CSS's wins to leapfrog UST's more complete resume. FWIW I thought CSS should have been #1 last week by a slim margin, although I have no problem with UST at #1 because it was so close in my eyes.

I think Chapman gets a large boost for its comparatively tough schedule. Take a look at the contenders for the last two or three Pool B's (I'm not sold on York, but considering its competition YC could be in good shape. Has YC beaten anyone, though? I like CU more than YC) ... not much to see there in terms of OWP and results vs. ranked opponents. Many of the other contenders have even worse in-region records than Chapman.

Wash U's 20-9 in-region mark masks an OWP well below .500. I roughed out a .463 OWP for Wash U last week, but I'll get an exact number after Tuesday's games. Bethany Lutheran had a subpar .454 OWP heading into this week.

Ralph or Jim D or one of the other guru's here on the wild world of pool "b" rankings for the west, I looked for a little while and couldn't find this question being asked regarding Chapman and where there field of play would be for regionals if indeed they do get the pool b bid?

If I am not mistaken Linfield was shipped out to Indy, Cleveland last year. And I am not quite sure if that was even a pool b ??? So don't mind my confusion it is hereditary but not contagious, and yes they do make medication for this condition :-[

The team is at question here not the place right? Or is it conditioned on where the team is coming from and of course the cost.

Dallas played a good game today and there lefty was for the most part pitching a decent game Chapman was able to get some timely hits with runners in scoring position and the dreaded 2 out rally. Dallas was a very much improved team from last year against us for 2 out of the 3 games. I believe that the jet lag and not playing on your own court made a difference in the first game. Chapman being at home and not having to travel even into there own area gave them  huge home field advantage for the first game.

I do know that this isn't the National topics page for where this next statemant is coming from but I wanted to take this moment to offer a minute of silence for A.G. and the lose that his family will suffer for the rest of there lifes. For a dad-father to be taken away from you that way has to be very tough on the kid - family.  and if I read it right he was the one up to bat when the line drive struck his father and killed him,( please Rallph correct me if I am wrong but that is the way I understood the comments on the National Topic. We have prayed for the family, both my wife and myself and put them on prayer card that we have available at our church.) :(
