Millsaps now up 17-1 with 15 hits as the game goes to the bottom of the 6th.  Freshman Tony Malaschak hit his first HR as a Major in the top of the 6th.

Brandon Ingram is still on the mound for Millsaps.  He has given up 4 hits and just 1 run and the game now goes to the top of the 7th.  I wonder if they have a 10-run rule in place for this game?  Assuming that Millsaps hangs on to win this game, the victory over a D1 team will mean nothing in the eyes of the NCAA, but it is a game that might be a turning point for Millsaps after the mini-slump of the last few games.

"It was probably the biggest win in Millsaps history," 20th-year head coach Jim Page said. "We found the spark we were needing today and for the first time this season we fed off each other both on the field and in the dugout. Ingram pitched a great game for us."

Millsaps beats D1 Jacksonville State 17-3 as Brandon Ingram picks up his 10th straight win, allowing 1 run in 7 innings.  Read the complete story here:

It will be interesting to me to see how Millsaps plays this weekend at LaGrange after the win against Jacksonville.  The Millsaps baseball schedule show the following dates and times for the games:

2/29--3 pm
3/1--1 pm
3/2--noon

All of the games are scheduled to be broadcast.  The link for the radio station is:

LaGrange is playing Oglethorpe at the moment.  I haven't found a link for live stats or audio of that game.

Oglethorpe dropped their sixth straight against LaGrange 9-3. The Petrels were held hit less until the 5th. They were down 3-0, then rallied for three runs in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3. But Lagrange's offense was too much to handle and scored three in the 6th and three in the 7th for the final margin.

I've watched the OU team play a few times this year and they are one of the most frustrating teams to watch. There really hasn't been a guy who has stepped up and taken control of this team. With one senior and one junior (both pitchers) you can see a lack of leadership among the players. The pitching has been below average, their defense is shaky and the hitting is inconsistent. They are good enough to hang around and maybe surprise you but until a go to guy emerges they will struggle..

They have also been hit with a few key loses....Where is the SS who started the season Matthew Cornwell? He is a very good player and hasn't played since their last win? I've also heard they lost their backup SS, a weekend starter, and an outfielder?

Millsaps wins at LaGrange this afternoon by a score of 9-6 or 9-7.  I was trying to keep up with baseball and basketball at the same time so I lost track.  Travis Bogue got the win and Drew Maddox registered a save.  I missed a big chunk of the middle of the game, including the 7-run 3rd for Millsaps when they had 7 singles and 2 walks, so I'm not sure about the hitting stars of the game for Millsaps.

These two teams play again tomorrow at 1:00 Central.  The game will be broadcast--see link in the post above.

AC run-ruled Ottawa University in both games of their double header yesterday.  Chermak and Stevens got the wins for AC.  Chermak was pretty much unhittable and only threw 52 pitches in five innings.

Millsaps wins at LaGrange this afternoon 6-3 in 10 innings.  Freshman Aaron Williams went 8.2 for Millsaps in another strong outing.  Drew Maddox got the win in relief.  The two teams finish up the 3 game series tomorrow--see time and radio link in my post above or on the previous page.

Oglethorpe lost two more today loosing 4-2 and 7-6 to Maryville.  Lets just hope this team does not continue down the same path last years team did by loosing 22 straight.   I cant see that happening but they are just struggling to put all the pieces together for a complete game.

Lou... I heard through the grape vine that Cornwell isn't allowed to play anymore this year.  I do not know any details just that he wont play again this year.  The back up shortstop has fractured his wrist and they are hoping to have him back at some point this season. Llano who was the starting shortstop last year has regained his spot.  I know an outfielder quit as well, but he didn't play much last year and looked like he wasn't going to play much this year.

Millsaps completed their 3 game sweep at LaGrange this afternoon with a 9-0 win (I think that was the score).  Tait Hendrix had another strong outing as Millsaps upped their record to 10-5 on the season, 9-3 against D3 competition.

Oglethorpe dropped its 9th straight to visiting Reinhardt College.  11-4

Going into the third the score was 0 - 0 and the Petrels took out their starting pitcher Keubler who I believe hadn't given up a hit (had walked some guys) and the reliever got rocked the Petrels gave up 3 homeruns and 9 runs in the third inning.

I don't know exactly why Keubler was taken out but I could only assume it was a predetermined pitching by committee or that he'd only go two regardless.

I've got a fun fact about Keubler who can actually pitch both right and left handed.  He has recorded outs using both hands this year.  However he mainly uses his left.

Trinity has a big game today down in San Antonio as Hardin-Simmons comes to town.

The bats have come alive a bit for Trinity and the young team has won 5 straight.

Bronson takes the hill tonight. On the year he's 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA. 22 K's and 4 BB's in 15 IP.

Should be a good one.

Tuna, it was a good one, Bronson came away with the loss on a freak bases loaded infield fly rule run scored in the ninth.  Great game by two excellent teams!

I need some clarification, please.

Situation:  HSU had the bases loaded, less than 2 outs.  An infield fly rule was invoked.

Did the winning run score by tagging up at third when the ball hit the ground, and the player was safe at the plate?

Okay, I found it.  :)

Here is the game story.

Thanks

Oglethorpe lost 9-4 to visitng Emory last night. A solid game played by both teams but emory was just too much for the Petrels. Pfister launched another HR last night for Emory and Andrew Llano hit his 3rd HR of the year for the OU.

Oglethorpe was in the game all the way and even had a 3-1 lead at one point, but couldn't muster that big hit all night....or all season for that matter. The pitching has been just so-so at best and the offense has struggled for any kind of consistency.

One thing that hasn't been talked about is how the drought in Georgia is effecting the playing fields. There is a complete outdoor watering ban in effect for the state of Georgia. The infield clay areas at both Emory and OU are playing like concrete...very dangerous conditions. There must have been a few balls that hopped up on the infielders and a few more that took wicked hops through the infield for hits last night. Not to mention the lingereing dust after a slide or dive.

Will the Millsaps games in Memphis this weekend take place considering the rain/snow forecast?  If so, who's scheduled to pitch?
