I'd guess that AC will counter with Will Chermak in tomorrow's game, and Cory Stevens starting game one on Saturday.  Tyler Steed will likely get a start this weekend, but the fourth spot is a bit up in the air...probably Bobby Schleizer, but a possibility that it'll be Matt Finke.

After last year, no Millsaps fan should over look any game with Austin, the thorn in the Majors side in 2007.  Two of the starters you named have an ERA over 11, but that probably doesn't mean much with it coming in pre-conference play.

Will Hendrix be walking into a buzzsaw in their quad-stacker with Trinity, or does anyone think they're capable of an upset or two?

Indeed, Frank, those pitchers have had a couple of rough outings but those have come against top notch teams, such as Texas-Tyler last week.  At the same time, Steed, who is a frosh, shut out TLU in his first collegiate start, so he's clearly got some potential.  Stevens has thrown a few gems in his career, too...he's also the type that can sometimes get deep into the count with numerous batters depending on how the umps are calling it.  He can throw some serious heat though, and at times has some overpowering stuff.

Millsaps takes the opener 7-3 against Austin tonight as Travis Bogue goes 8 innings, giving up 2 hits, 7 walks and 2 unearned runs.  Chermak took the loss for Austin.  I was mostly listening to the Millsaps basketball win that puts them in the final 8, but I do know that Hunter Owen had his 4th HR of the season.

Trinity takes the first game from Hendrix 9-3. Poffenroth gets the win going 6 strong innings. Calbick and Felix both had 4 hits with Felix having 4 rbi's and 4 runs. Both Felix and Jones had triples with Jones getting 2 hits.

However, Daniel Ward of Hendrix was the story of the game hitting for the cycle.

Owen did indeed hit his 4th homer.  It was an absolute shot, too.

Abrams went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI.  Ordeneaux went 3-for-4.

AC just couldn't get anything going offensively, and the first two innings for Chermak were rough.  After that he settled down considerably, but the damage was done.

AC jumps out to a 4-0 lead in game one today against Millsaps after one inning.  Bennett Herrick hit a three run homer and Bobby Schleizer knocked in a run to get to Aaron Williams early and put the 'Roos on the board.

Majors get 2 back in the top of the second, one coming off a Boland homer to right center.

looked like it was going to be a blowout here in Sherman, as AC went into the 7th leading 15-6...however, the 'Roos gave up eight runs in the top of the seventh and had the bases loaded with two outs, with the final out coming on a fly ball that carried all the way to the fence.  crazy game.

Boyd, Owen, and Boland had homers for Millsaps; Schleizer and Herrick both had three run shots for AC.

Stevens gets the win, Max Berry takes the loss, and Tyler Steed gets the save for getting an out against the only batter he faced.

Austin seems to be the thorn in Millsaps' side.  My hats off to the Austin hitters as they chased Williams and Ingram from the mound yesterday, two starters who have done very well all season.  Millsaps needs a big start from Tait Hendrix today to even the series and they need for the bats to explode in the early innings, not just the last inning like yesterday.

While today's game is big in regards to winning an SCAC title, I just don't see Millsaps in contention for winning an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.  In a way that is good because the season can somewhat focus on the SCAC Tournament and Millsaps can continue to experiment in an effort to find the right combination of starters.  It is somewhat like the path Austin took to the NCAA last year.

About 15 minutes from first pitch here in Sherman...Hendrix is going for Millsaps, while AC is giving a local freshman the first start of his career.  We'll see how it goes...

After two complete, AC leads 1-0 on a sac fly by Brian Buehler following an error by Hunter Abrams.

'Roos get out of a jam in the top of the fourth...Millsaps had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out, but AC gets a strikeout and a groundout to end the inning without surrendering a run to keep it 1-0.

'Roos get out of another mini-jam, with Millsaps stranding a runner on third after a leadoff double by Causey.  AC still leads 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Now, they just need to figure out how to hit Tait Hendrix.
