Thanks, Frank.  It feels good to see that the hard work is paying off.  It just means now that we'll have to step our game up in the other categories (FB, VB, BKB).

Major_Fan... congrats for the bb accolades and all you have done to raise the quality of SID output at Millsaps!

Thanks again, historymajor!  The department has the potential to be one of the Top 3 in the conference and a contender on a national level.  We've just got to get the support from the school to get an assistant in there to continue to progress.  The student-athletes are the selling point of the job, they're great to work with.  We're busy preparing for the fall semester now... should be another exciting one!

I saw this article by Matthew Waxman of ESPN the Magazine and thought it might be of interest to those on the SCAC Baseball board- especially those affiliated with Trinity University.

This should explain why Trinity has regained dominance in the SCAC- private tutelage from a Major League Pitcher, lol.

Brian Oates, Trinity Univ RHP has had a good 1st summer (hot) in Peoria, AZ Mariner rookie league.  Led team in innings, K's and some other categories, got shipped to Pulaski, VA team last night.  See if he can get a couple of moderate weather starts... although that nasty hurricane rain might 'dampen' his arrival.

Oates was masterful in his first Pulaski Maariners (A) start at the Bristol sox tonite.  (I think everbody there would rather have been at the Bristol Motor Speedway)
Pitching line:

Good to see AC Coach Iwasaki at the McM-AC football game today.

He likes the 3/2 home/away format for the 20 game divisional schedule.

His schedule is not up yet, but he says that the Roos will play the best schedule that he can find, including most of the ASC powers!

Coach Iwasaki has set out an ambitious course for AC.  It paid off in 2007.

Good luck to the Roos, and we're looking forward to baseball already!

Ralph--I'm sure I'm not the only one who is uninformed on how league play will be structured in the SCAC this year.  Would you give us an update or point us to a link that explains the new setup?  Thanks.

I saw Coach Iwasaki at the AC-McM game and he said that the West would be home and away series, 3 games at one site and 2 games at the other.

I did not ask him about the East.

Thanks for the info Ralph.  Millsaps lost 3 senior pitchers after the 2008 season so my initial reaction is that the move from 4 SCAC games in a weekend to just 2 or 3 will be a plus for Millsaps.  Assuming that Tait Hendrix and Aaron Williams returned for the 2009 season, Millsaps should have as strong a 1-2 starting tandem as anyone in the SCAC.  On the offensive side, the combo of Hunter Owen and Will Hawkins will be hard to beat for a 1-2 power punch in the middle of the lineup, but of course it take more than 2 pitchers and 2 hitters to make a winning team.

Fall ball is winding down......and when the WS is over, man, it's going to be hard to be baseball-less.  Anyone have any info / news / opinion / prelim schedules, ANYthing SCAC-related to share?

Early predictions for top 3 on West/East to make it to conference tournament are
West: Trinity, Millsaps, Southwestern
East: Rhodes, Centre, Depauw
