Trinity had a webcast and livestats going yesterday so check out their website this morning (http://www.trinity.edu/departments/athletics/Baseball/index.htm).
I was listening to the RHIT broadcast yesterday so I can't give a report on the Trinity webcast.  I did check out their livestats which seemed to be behind by about an inning or so but it would have been better than nothing.

While the Tal Hendrix as starter prediction might be insider info, I just don't see Tal as the starter.  Tal hasn't started a game in a while and Trinity does seem to prefer his brand of power pitching.  I think Hollenbeck will come back for the start or possibly Brandon Ingram.  While Millsaps doesn't have an established 3rd starter, I do think they have guys available who can give the team a quality start.

Trinity did indeed start Horn ... who got tagged for four runs in the top of the first (and Millsaps stranded three more).  Ouch.  TU up to bat in the bottom of the inning.  Brad Mizerany (0-0, 5.50 ERA, 11 appearances, 18.0 IP) got his first start of the season for the Majors so it looks like the committee approach is in.

Millsaps takes a 4-0 lead after 1 inning but you can get all the stats on the livestats or webcast from the Trinity website.

Regarding Brad Mizerany as the starting pitcher for Millsaps.  He isn't a power pitcher like Fox even though he has 17 KO's in 18 innings.  He throws a lot of 1st pitch strikes and gets the batters swinging at poor pitches when they get down in the count.  It usually takes the opposing team a couple of at bats to get their timing on him so Mizerany might be expected to only go about 4 innings and then Millsaps might go to Drew Maddox or Tal Hendrix.

Webstats aren't getting updated.     :(  TU just got a two run HR in the bottom of the second.  TU Announcers aren't giving out score updates ... I think it's 4-2 now in the bottom of the second with one out.

Sounds like the wind is blowing out.

Millsaps just tied the game in the top of the 8th........  9-9 the score.
Wetzel hit a three run homerun and Hunter Abrams blasted a solo shot to tie it up.  Millsaps still batting.

Trinity looking good in bottom of the 8th....two men on and no outs.  Drew Maddox getting the call to the mound for Millsaps.

Man, was I wrong about the Millsaps pitching situation....figured the committee approach would be on....but did not get the impression that Mizerany would start.  Hendrix did see relief action and got tagged.

What a game!!!

Tiger pinch-hitter Steven Ramos delivers a big two-out single in the bottom of the eight, plating two.  Millsaps trails 12-9, down to their last out, two on thanks to a throwing error.   Garner Wetzel, who already has one three-run HR to his credit, comes to the plate.   Frey's control is off, he's been behind every runner in the inning.  Full count on Wetzel ... but ball four.  Abrams to bat, he also has an HR to his credit.  Bases loaded.   Abrams hits it to deep right but Ramos makes the catch.  Trinity on to tomorrow's championship round, Millsaps faces DePauw this afternoon.

Hopefully Millsaps can put together enough pitching this afternoon to handle DePauw, we don't want to give the selection committee any reason to leave them or Trinity at home when the bids are announced.

DePauw scorched Rhodes today 16-4.  Millsaps will have to re-group quickly to play DePauw.

With the pitching surprise earlier for Millsaps I'm not so sure about who will start for the Majors, but I would guess it would be Jay Hollenbeck.

If Millsaps wins this afternoon, pitching gets even more interesting for Sunday....I'll speculate about that if it becomes necessary.

Trinity Tigers Score Three in Eighth to Advance to SCAC Championship Game
Will Becker, Andreas Verrios, and Nick Vera touched up Millsaps for home runs and Steven Ramos' pinch hit two RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave Trinity a 12-9 win in Saturday's semifinal game. Adam Frey earned the win in relief of Tom Dailey and Britton Horn.

Just lost the feed from the WGRE broadcast....livestats are down, too.
Millsaps leads DePauw 5-1 in the 6th.  The Majors have hit a two-out homerun in three consecutive innings.  Jason Hadley hit a two run homer in the 3rd.  Luke Morrow a solo shot in the 4th, and Garner Wetzel hit a blast of a shot according to WGRE broidcasters for a two-run homer in the 5th.

Okay....well I actually didn't lose the feed to the WGRE broadcast.....I somehow managed to turn the volume down.......way down.  Volume is up now and so are the Majors 5-1 in the top of the 7th.  The rain is on its way, too.

Millsaps defeats DePauw 11-1.  I'll have my pitching "probables" later.

Seems like Millsaps has two ways to go.  If they feel like they can pitch John Fox tomorrow, you could start him in the first game and try to get a win while Trinity depletes some of their pitching in the first game.  That leaves you with Tait Hendrix or Brandon Ingram to start the last game.  I would have confidence in either of those pitchers.  Tait has an ERA of 2.25 and the opposing BA is .211 and Brandon has an ERA of 3.10 and an opposing BA of .234.  Combined they have only given up 1 HR in 44 innings and that might be a key factor if the wind is blowing like today.

The other option is to go with the fresh pitchers in the first game and try to find a way to get to a second game.  If you get to the second game then just about anything goes in a showdown for the championship and I think Fox would definitely factor in somewhere during that game.

My guess is John Fox will throw in game one for Millsaps.
Below is the line for John in Millsaps 9-3 win over Trinity in game one of the three game series in San Antonio.

Millsaps College   IP   H  R ER BB SO AB BF
-----------------------------------------------
John Fox............  6.2  1  2  2  2  5   21 24

John did not pitch against Trinity in the second series in Jackson because he was sidelined with an ankle injury.
