Trinity is up 5-0 in bottom of first with no outs. Boussard (sp?) has left the game without getting an out.

Update: Trinity batted around and after 1 it is 6-0 TU.

Pretty surprising, Boussard supposedly had very good numbers coming into this game.

Ron Boerger

Trinity now up 21-1 (no typo) after six.  Tigers have set the conference championship record for hits in a single game, 26, replacing a decade-old standard set by Southwestern in a nine-inning effort.   Kind of surprised they sent out Lucero as the starter today.

Ron,

Dallas has been a pretty competitive team beating Centenary a couple of times and Boussard had very good numbers so I actually expected a low scoring close game and thought Dallas had a chance to upset TU......Obviously after the first inning that was not going to happen.

To add to the above which I agree with, Dallas was the biggest threat to Trinity in terms the of the Pool A bid.  Dallas will now have to play two more games before they play the loser of Trinity v Centenary/Austin tomorrow so they'll be on game 4 where Trinity, even if they lose, will only be on game 3.  If Trinity wins the likely match up with Centenary tomorrow, there's a good chance they don't end up playing another team in the tournament that could qualify for the Pool A.

Ron Boerger

Just funny how some teams match up better against different teams.  TU now 6-0 against UD, most of them comfortable wins, 1-4 against Centenary while UD is 3-2 against the Gents and the margin in the two losses (as well as the three wins - LOL) being one run.

Centenary is up 14-3 through 5. Wonder what the over/under will be for the TU/Centenary game? 40!

The video coverage and commentary by the SCAC is excellent.

What's the max bet on that? I'll take under for whatever it is.

Centenary and Trinity tied bottom 10 at 3-3. 1 out runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out for TU in the bottom and now under lightening delay. Good game vs two solid teams, well pitched, TU out hitting Cent 11-7 but two costly errors are the difference in the game. Game will resume when weather passes.

Trinity wins in bottom of 11th, 4-3. Cent 3-8-0, TU 4-13-2. Very hard fought game with both teams putting runners in scoring position the last few innings. Big home run with 2 out in bottom of 9th by Chris Bianchi to tie up the game.

Centenary will likely come though the winners bracket for a rematch tomorrow, however they will have to get through another game late tonight after the losers bracket plays next.

Does this clinch a regional berth for Trinity? Or do they have to win the tournament to get an automatic?

Ron Boerger

If Centenary wins tonight, it clinches the SCAC pool A as the Gents aren't eligible for the NCAAs yet.

Bianchi's game-saving HR in the bottom of the ninth was not only his first HR of the year but only his fourth RBI all season.

Actually it does, they can do no worse than second. Like I have posted in the past they have the easiest path of any team I can think of unless there is another team in a weak conference without a conference tournament. This puts Linfield and Trinity into the West. It should help their seeding also.

Wait.... I just saw Ron's post have to look at the bracket...

Just checked the bracket, Ron is correct if Centenary comes through then they will be no worse than second. I would expect for Centenary to handle an expected U of Dallas, but Dallas has beat them 2 of 3 so baseball is a funny game, you never know.

If Centenary wins the tournament, then TU gets the pool A bid being the highest seeded team after Centenary. If Centenary wins the late game, Trinity is going to a reginal no matter the result tomorrow.

Ron Boerger

Centenary won easily in the nightcap (14-0) as Arcemont went the distance allowing only three hits.   So Trinity has clinched the playoff bid.

Imagine that the Gents will start Cole Thompson today (5-1, 4.44, .285 OBP) and Trinity will start Zach Speer (7-0, 1.52, .211 OBP)
