Okay, we've established the starting pitcher against Notre Dame and we've got Trinity as the winner--any word on the final score or is that something we going to have to wait on? :)

One thing we do know is that it's going to be a very interesting year and hopefully there'll be more who join in the chatter.  For example, it shouldn't be left to me to point out that LaGrange is now 7-4 with their losses coming from 4 SCAC teams--Millsaps, Rhodes, Sewanee, and Oglethorpe.  Is there any word on how things look at DePauw, Centre, Birmingham Southern, or Sewanee?  I'd like to know and I think the players and their parents might like some recognition.  Nothing would please me more than being drowned out by a flood on new participants.

In the meantime, let me remind those who want to watch/listen to a little baseball tomorrow at work, the Millsaps-Emory game will be webcast at 11:00 Central time.  There's rain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday so times may change, but Saturday's LaGrange-Millsaps game at 2 and Sunday's Rhodes-Millsaps game at 2 will also be webcast.

The link for the webcast is in the signature section below.

Wow, frank, didnt mean to upset you.  All I meant was that Bronson gives TU the best chance to win.  Who knows, maybe Coach Scannell will do something crazy and not throw him at all :)

Not upset at all which is why I used one of those smiley face things that I hate so much.

The reality is that none of us know what the Trinity and Millsaps SCAC records will be when those teams meet in mid-March so it's really hard to predict that far in advance.  I don't think the record would matter for Millsaps--they will pull out all the stops to win an SCAC game.  Thanks to the conversation going on here, I better understand that Trinity takes a different approach and I understand the concept behind that theory.  There's no right or wrong, just two great programs and coaches doing what they think is best for their players.

Dealing with news of the present instead of the future, Millsaps is crushing Emory 13-2 and batting in the top of the 7th.  Aaron Williams has gone the distance for Millsaps--just about everyone has hit well.

Rhodes is trailing LaGrange 5-4 with Rhodes coming up to bat in the bottom of the 6th.  I couldn't find live stats on this one and the Rhodes announcer doesn't give out the score very often--if I was doing one of these webcasts I'd make myself a big note to announce the score every 3 or 4 minutes.

I couldn't find any live stats for Rhodes, just the video which I think is a new feature for them.  I hope they haven't dropped the live stats--it's great to have both.  Millsaps is adding live stats starting this Tuesday for baseball (starting this evening on softball).

For those who haven't check, Rhodes came back to beat LaGrange 7-5 yesterday.

Rhodes is playing Emory this morning.  Andy Holt shut down Emory in a 6-1 victory last week but Rhodes appears to be saving him for Millsaps if that game is even played--it may get snowed out.

Emory is now leading Rhodes 7-0 and they are still batting with no outs in the top of the 2nd.

(ADDED NOTE:  THERE IS A WEBCAST--SEE A COUPLE OF POSTS DOWN FOR THE LINK)

You can check the Trinity website:  http://www.trinity.edu/departments/athletics/index.htm

The SCAC website shows no links and I didn't see any on the Trinity page--they are probably all focused on the basketball.  ALSO, while the schedule says it's a 1:00 game, on the Trinity athletic home page it lists it as 3:00 under today's events.  The time was probably changed because of the basketball games.

In Memphis it is 36 degrees with a 17 mph north wind, and Emory just run-ruled Rhodes 12-2.  Maybe one of the Rhodes fans will provide more info but I suspect it was the worst game of the season by far for Rhodes--5 errors, 5 hit batters, and it seemed like just all around sloppy play to match the weather.

On the Emory side of the equation, they probably played this like a championship game because (1) Rhodes beat Emory 6-1 last week in Atlanta; (2) Millsaps embarrassed Emory yesterday; (3) this was the 300th victory by the Emory coach and I'm sure the players wanted to get that in a big way.

Millsaps and LaGrange will probably start on time at 2:00 OR considering the weather in Memphis, I won't be surprised if that game is moved up to start earlier.  The link to the video of that game is in the signature area below.

Just got the word that the Millsaps game against LaGrange has been cancelled.  Tomorrow's games are uncertain--given the weather forecast, I'd say the games tomorrow are unlikely.

FOUND A LINK TO THE TRINITY-HENDRIX GAME:

It's not listed anywhere, but I went back and tried the video link for the Austin vs. Trinity game and it looks like there is a webcast of today's game.  That link is:

It sounds like a very windy day in Texas--even for Texas.

Hendrix is up 3-0 early in the second against Bronson.

donotknowscac

Looks like you got it right Frank.  Not a lot of word coming out of the Rhodes campus after that game.  Whew!  One other point was today was when Rhodes dedicated their new baseball facility.  So, that loss hurt.  The HBP, walks, and errors piled up on Rhodes a couple of weeks ago at Huntingdon.  Emory being the team that they are, really made Rhodes pay.
It is cold an miserable, but Emory played in it also.  No time to hang their heads, Millsaps tomorrow.  Snow shoes are optional tomorrow!

Forgerson hit a grand slam in the 4th to put Hendrix up 8-0 over Trinity.

After Hendrix took the Saturday opener 10-8 from Trinity yesterday, it looks like things are back to normal as Trinity leads today 10-2 after 3 innings.  The big damage was a 7-run second where 3 hits were mixed in with 5 or 6 walks by the Hendrix pitchers.

It's obvious that Trinity had a serious team meeting after yesterday's game as the "chatter" from the Trinity dugout has been loud and consistent since the beginning of the game.  Maybe yesterday was a turning point for this year's Tigers.

In the only other conference series going this weekend, Southwestern won at Austin 14-9 in 11 innings yesterday and Austin leads 1-0 today with Southwestern threatening in the top of the 3rd.

While the SCAC East remains gridlocked in a tight race from top to bottom, there were some things of interest going on in the SCAC West:

---Okay, put your hand up if you thought Hendrix would be 4-3 after opening with 7 road games--2 at Millsaps, 3 at Austin, and 2 at Trinity?  Both my hands are still on the keyboard.  With 10 of their remaining 13 games at home, you have to believe that Hendrix has a good shot at coming to Jackson for the SCAC Tournament.

---On the flip side, Austin split a pair on the road with Trinity and have since lost 4 out of 5 at home.  With a 2-5 record, they face a critical road trip to Millsaps this weekend for 3 games.

---Southwestern snapped a 5 game skid last weekend with their 2 game sweep of Austin.  With UMHB putting up a 12-spot in the first inning today, I believe Southwestern's win streak will end at 2.  At 2-3 in the SCAC, Southwestern is facing a big home series this weekend with Trinity.

---Did Trinity turn things around Sunday?  I listened to the game and it was obvious that the Trinity dugout was intent on showing a lot of life from the very beginning.  That's a start and Trinity won with ease that day.  At 2-2 and 12 of their remaining 16 games on the road, they need to keep this renewed spirit going in Georgetown this week.  Trinity is playing Concordia at this moment and the link to the video is:
http://atwsportscast.com/Colleges/Players/Trinity%20University.htm

---Millsaps didn't get a lot of work over the weekend after beating Emory handily on Friday.  They play NAIA Belhaven this evening and I suspect Millsaps will use a string of pitchers to get them a little mound time before Austin comes to town.  What I've come to find out is that no matter what the Austin College record is, they will give Millsaps a tough game.

The game with Belhaven will be webcast at 6 Central this evening and the link is in the signature area below.

Oglethorpe's game has been moved to Piedmont and scheduled to start in a few minutes (4 pm).  I was planing to stop by after work to watch the Petrels play at home at 5 but now I may be left in the dark as I looked through Piedmonts website and didnt find any place for live stats.

Does anyone know if Piedmont offers live stats?

Seems from the games Sunday vs Hendrix and today with Concordia that Trinity is getting closer to playing at the level expected in the preseason and that would be consistent with their talent level.
In the 9th at Dell Stadium, Trinity leads CTX 14-4.
Good hitting and good pitching against a very good hitting team.
Interesting! They still have a long way to go to climb out of their early season doldrums, but they have the talent to do so.
