DP643 - It was a cold windy day with the wind blowing in so conditions were tough. The defense kicked the ball around (including a throwing error by him) and then 3 BB  in 1.2 innings was not going to get it done (walked leadoff in both innings) in what was expected to be a tough day to score runs.  He has great stuff and will be back out there, just one of those days when the stars did not align.

Flores came in and pounded the zone with FB down, (0 BB) which is what you need to do in those type of conditions, as no balls were going to get hit out. Everything in the air was knocked down and caught. In those conditions, you just have to make a team earn everything.

The game Dallas won was off a hung CB grand slam  (after an E....all unearned.  ::)) and they seemed to have a more difficult time with FB vs LH breaking stuff. Actually Dallas lost the game because of a leadoff walk and HBP in the 8th.

Here is my predictions on how the conference will end:

Trinity  15-3
TLU      13-5
Cent    11-7
Dallas   8-10
SW      6-12
Schr    5-13
Austin 5-13

Predictions for the upcoming weekend:

TLU sweeps Southwestern
Dallas takes 2 of 3 from Austin College
Centenary sweeps Schreiner
Trinity sweeps Hendrix (non-conference)

Comments, thoughts, Trinity haters?

I don't expect Trinity to sweep Hendrix, this is a deep rivalry that goes back many years and it is a very difficult place to play so I would estimate 2 of 3. While I was typing this I looked at their schedule and they swept Millsaps last weekend so I am pretty sure TU will not sweep.

Centenary defeats Schreiner
Southwestern defeats TLU in 13 innings

This will make the Centenary/TLU series in Seguin next weekend much more interesting, IMO

Trinity starts their 3 game series with Hendrix tomorrow
Dallas and Austin College begin their 3 game series tomorrow

Interesting baseball taking place in the SCAC today!

Southwestern appears to be poised to take 2 of 3 from Texas Lutheran
Centenary will take 2 of 3 from Schreiner
Trinity lost game 1 of the series to Hendrix
Dallas beats Austin College in walk-off fashion in game 1 of their series

Predictions for the weekend:

TU @ Schreiner     TU - 3     Shr-  0
Cent @ TLU           TLU - 2   Cent - 1
UofD @ Chapman  UoD -1  Chap - 2
SW @ Austin          SW - 2 Aust 1

TU could drop one to Shreiner if they play like they did a Hendrix
Cent could take 2 from TLU if they continue to develop and TLU does not bring their A game
SW vs Austin - Austin can play at home and SW is a young team and well coached.
Love that UofD is going to Chapman, good for the program.

Trinity is about to a mercy with Schreiner for the third game.

Next weekend is about who will host the SCAC conf tournament.

If Trinity wins 2 of 3 the next two weekends they will host. TLU has to at least win 2 of 3 to have a chance to host it. I have not looked at what has to happen for the 3/4 seeds but I predict UofD and Centenary.

Will be a good weekend next week.

Looks like the SCAC should be settled this weekend.  Both TU and TLU have great starting pitching and should be great series.  Speer Walker and Gray vs Snider and Aleman should be epic battles.  Pen will be difference IMO

Certainly will go a long way towards resolving things, but Trinity still has three games at Centenary while TLU closes with a home series with Schreiner.

If Trinity (11-1 SCAC) wins 2 of 3 or better they'll clinch the regular-season championship (would have a three game lead and tie breaker with three to play).

If TLU (9-3 SCAC) wins 2 of 3 they'd still be a game back with three to play and would need help from Centenary.  A sweep would put the Bulldogs a game up and it would be Trinity needing help from a much more unlikely source.

Will be the most meaningful set of 3 games for both teams this season, which will make them intense and a lot of fun. Love that TLU is in the SCAC now. Even though UofD, SWU are not quite at TLU and Trinity's levels yet, I see clear signs of all of those programs getting better. Centenary is young this year and will be good next year.   Even though UofD lost three games at Chapman it is huge for that program to get out and play nationally recognized programs. This conference will continue to get more competitive over the next couple of years.

wonder what happens if Trinity takes 2-3 from TLU, giving TLU 5 losses, Trinity 2 losses.  Lets say Trinity then gets swept by Centenary and TLU sweeps Schreiner, now Trinity, TLU, Centenary have 5 losses.  Wonder what the tie breaker is in that case

Would have to be head-to-head, which TU would have in that scenario (even tho I find it hard to believe that TU would drop three at Centenary).
