Wetsuit wrap up for the week. Most of the SCAC drama is over with until the tournament. In theory there can be some switching around but unless the unthinkable improbable happens the tournament will be at TLU and seeded like.

TLU
Trinity
Centenary
SWestern

It is a huge advantage for TLU in not having the face Centenary in game 1. TLU plays better at home also so this should help them a lot. Trinity should be the favorite to win the SCAC but their pitching has been inconsistent of late. They have enough arms to get through the loser bracket, but Centenary and TLU are both capable of winning it all. I think this is the first time in a while that three nationally ranked teams will play the SCAC tournament, a real complement to the coaches and players in the league. Nicely done.

For the last weekend:

TLU @ SWestern:     TLU could sweep, but SWern will likely win 1
Trinity @ Austin         Break out the brooms
Cent @ Dallas            Cent should sweep but Dallas could take 1
Schriener vs Hardin-Simmons and it does not matter. Sch is done after this.

TLU 1-0 win over Southwestern tonight for SCAC regular season title. Redshirt Freshman Nathan Malinovsky (W, 8-1) threw a complete game 4 hitter.

Talk about stumbling across the finish line. Both TLU and Centenary lose 2 of 3 this weekend coming into the Conference tournament, which TLU hosts based on holding the tie breaker vs Trinity. I believe Cent has the two seed since they beat SWern 2/3 in conf play, who finished strong for the 4 seed. Any team other than Trinity has to win the Conf tournament to make it to the Regional at this point. As PLU showed in the NWest it's not how you play during the season, only at the end if you are in your conf tournament. Nice finish for SWern who TLU is now aware of what to look for in game 1.  I think this is one of the more closely matched Conf tournaments in some time so there should be some excellent games in Seguin starting on Friday.

This years stumble is much better than last years face plant. ;)

SW got a win in 10 tonight against UT-Tyler.   Better not sleep on the Pirates this year.

Weather will likely impact today's games, but as long as the field drains they should be able to get them in as the rain this time of year tends to be of the "dump for 20 minutes" variety.

SW @ TLU  1:00pm
Centenary vs. Trinity 4:30pm

Pretty interested to see how Burnett, at TLU, plays this.

You're the #1 seed and the host, but based on your overall body of work you *have to* win the SCAC tourney.

You know that TU staff probably has more depth and that Malinovsky (8-1) probably has the best chance to beat them.

Ordinarily I'm a big fan of the 1 game at a time, win this one to get to the next one approach, but in this scenario with TU/Centenary looming, I think I'd give the ball to Senior (the only SR P on the staff) Lincoln Baylor and tell him to go avenge last week's loss. (Baylor has already beaten TU once this year, but he's also given up 10 ER in 12.2 innings of work.)

Just checked in and there is a nice video feed with professional broadcaster.

...and they won 3-1. So probably a good thing as you don't want to lose game 1 as it is a long road back and there is certainly no guarantee Trinity wins game 1. Cent is going with Kirk and Trinity Turner.

Trinity beats Centenary in one of the more bizarre games, I have seen including a 7-5-4-1-5 triple play by Centenary.

                  1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8   9   R   H   E
Centenary   0   0   2   3   0   3   0   0   0   8   12   3
Trinity         1   0   0   1   5   0   2   0   0   9   10   2

Keven Flores comes in and restores some order for Trinity and strikes out 6 in the last two innings and get's his first save of the season.

TLU vs Trinity at 12:00 tomorrow for the first game Cent and SW for the first elimination game.

Is there a youtube of the triple play?

It might be on the TLU website under recordings.

Trinity beat TLU 5-2 with Walker going the distance for Trinity. Complete different game from yesterday from Trinity.

Trinity went up 1 in the 4th by a HR by Jewett. TLU came back with two in the bottom of the frame, and Trinity scored 4 in the top of the 5th and that was it for scoring. TLU had chances and just could not get runs across. Both teams left 10 runners on base.

TLU plays winner of SW/Cent game today tomorrow and Trinity goes to champion ship game tomorrow. Shhhh I hear Oxy and CLU fans cheering but please keep it down, people may be napping. Personally I really would like to see TLU in the Regional as they deserve it.

It was a triple play after an appeal play on a runner who left early. So, it was a flyout to left field. Trinity tried to tag up from third and score. The throw was cut off and they got the runner at second base, who wandered off the bag too far. Then, Centenary appealed to third and Serkowski was called out for leaving early. But it all goes in as a triple play.
