Current West Region winning percentages by conference:  SCIAC=.585; SCAC=.581; ASC=.543; NWC=.462.  Early on, the SCIAC looks like it could be a strong conference.  Their pre-league non-conference winning percentage this year was .639.  Whitworth(NWC) had nice weekend in Texas losing to Trinity but beating Tyler and Centenary. So, who knows what is to come out of the Northwest once the season warms up for those guys.  It is early we will see how all of this plays out for the Region.

Centenary and Tyler locked up in a close one today in the 7th.

Centenary scored four runs in the ninth to defeat Tyler 4-2.  Tough weekend for the Patriots, losing all three (to quality opponents) at home.

I'm going to interested to see what JC Bunch has done with the crew at Southwestern, and the first indication will come this weekend when they play a non-conference trio at home - weather permitting - against his former Trinity team.   The program had already started a turnaround under previous coach Thomas which had stalled around .500 the last couple of seasons.    This year's roster is young (only four seniors and five juniors after losing nine seniors to graduation) but I can see things improving in Georgetown as he brings his guys into the program.

JC Bunch's homecoming to Trinity is not starting out so well. SW down 0 - 8 in the top of 3rd.

This is the first time I have seen the new Trinity broadcast network and I have to say it is  better than many D1 programs, I suggest you check it out. Hi-Def with four camera's that switch views with quality broadcasters. (I think students) Setting a standard for D3 baseball webcasting.

It is a great broadcast that puts most to shame.  You even get a British accent from one of the commentators.

Early results in from the SCAC weekend.

Trinity is absolutely pummeling Southwestern. 11-1 gm1, 6-2, gm2 and are up 12-0 top 5 gm 3.

TLU has split games so far with Schreiner, gm 3 coming up. Schreiner is no longer a sweep in the SCAC which is nice to see, they are 10-11 on the season.

Centenary beat Dallas gm1 7-5 and 15-1 gm2, gm3 coming up.

JC Bunch was welcomed back to Trinity last week with a sweep and this...

Big series in the SCAC this weekend with Centenary going to TLU. Series is at TLU so I would give an edge to them, but it could go either way.

Trinity beat CTX on Tuesday 3-2 in 11 innings and they are home vs Sull Ross after an extended period of playing on the road.

Ron Boerger

Tigers trailed most of the night against Sul Ross until the bottom of the seventh, when the Lobos issued six walks, uncorked four wild pitches (of ten on the evening), and committed two errors.  8 mostly unearned runs crossed the plate as a result and Trinity ended up with a 14-5 win.

Second game between the two tonight before Trinity again hits the road for a conference set at Schreiner with a DH tomorrow and the rubber game on Sunday.

AC has 2 series remaining:  Centenary and TLU. They are 6-6 in the conference standings. They won the series against Southwestern

Southwestern has the TLU series remaining this weekend and are 6-9.

It seems to me that AC has the slight edge in this battle for the 4th slot in the post-season tourney.

All AC has to do is win 1 of 3 from TLU and they are in.  Southwestern is "in the clubhouse" at 7-11.

Trinity and Centenary split yesterday's double header setting up a "winner takes all" game today for the regular season SCAC title and top seed in next weeks tournament. Trinity played a very sloppy first game 1 and lost and came from behind and took game 2 in 13 innings.

Coach Scannell and a player were ejected by an extremely unprofessional ump who told Scannell when he came out to argue a horrible call something like "get off the field xxs hole I was BBQing in my back yard an hour ago and would just as soon be there now" Of course Scannell blew a cork with that...apparently the ump was called in at the last minute because one of the other umps was injured getting ready for the game.

Needless to say Centenary and Trinity games are always fun as they have built a great rivalry. Should be a fun game to watch online if anyone has interest.

TLU gets a Bases Loaded full count walk-off base on balls win, 3-2 over Southwestern in Game 3 to move to the championship tomorrow.

Centenary and TUTX are next in the elimination bracket.

TLU wins their first SCAC championship!
I did not realize it was their first. They will represent the SCAC well in the Regional.

Congrats to TLU on their runner-up finish in their first-ever visit to the D3 CWS.   You made the SCAC proud!
