(El Tea Gray---re: Trinity  12  vs.  McMurry  0)

History,
I saw the game and IMHO it was the Tigers most solid performance of the season; both pitching and hitting looked great. The team appears to be rounding into conference playoff shape.

Also, what have you heard the weather is supposed to be like in Memphis, TN and Conway, AR for this weekend (Fri., Sat., Sun.). The Weather Channel keeps talking about Weather Warnings with wind, thunderstorms and possible tornado activity. Do you think the games could once again be moved to San Antonio (hot and dry, really dry)?

Yeah, history, I posted my thoughts on the ASC board.  Gee, it is comforting that Trinity thought it appropriate to put it all together today!  Glad to oblige! ::)

Mud-face ugly!  McMurry doesn't have the pitching staff that I would like.  To go deep in the playoffs, you must have plenty of pitching, plenty of pitching, defense and plenty of pitching.

Did I mention that I don't think that we have enough pitching? ???

RHP Richard Burriss is a junior 2-VL man who is still picking up weekday roles and so he may be inconsistent at times. :-\

Adam Frey just shut down our bats badly!  :(

ETG... I was glad to see (not yet hear) the Tigers bounce back today!   I'm not sure about weather predicions are all about, but I'm sure we'll have to travel there to find out the weather predictions for this weekend)... anyway Millsaps has earned the drivers seat for the SCAC tourney and we'll just have to beat them in Sewanee to assure a bid.

Historymajor and I have different definitions of the term "driver's seat".  With Millsaps at 11-4, Trinity at 10-4 and Rhodes at 8-5, there's a lot of doubt on how the final seeding will be at the tournament.  Rhodes still has one game left with Trinity and 3 with Millsaps so they are right in the hunt even though they are 3 back in the win column.

Of course, last year Millsaps had an advantage being the 3rd seed from the West even though that meant a tougher 1st round game so winning the SCAC West might not be an advantage when a team gets to Sewanee.

TU starts a road weekend tonight with a 'make-up' game against Rhodes at Millington's USA baseball park at 7pm.  Hmmm... fly to LIT, drive to MEM,,, play at 7pm... drive back to MEM (short night)...  Play Hendrix at 1pm Saturday and Sunday...  Guess we'll find out how well they 'travel'...

As long as they do better than the Spurs ...  ;)

Ralph... you crack me up. People will soon realize that this game is all about pitching. Everyone gets so excited about scoring 10-12 runs a game, but it always the teams that only give up 2-3 runs a game that fare well in the post-season.

If offense meant much in this game we would be talking about the four-time defending World Series Champion Texas Rangers.
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

Big Poppa, you think about offensive explosions and MLB and you have the Cubbies and the Rangers.

The main differenence between the Cubbies and the Texas Strangers is that the Cubbies have been to a World Series before. :-\

I was not even aware that the Cubbies still had a team. Do they have enough guys off of the DL to even play?

.... and now watch the Cub fans ding my karma points... I am at +5 right now.....

East Side update

Both Centre and DePauw won their first game against Sewanne and Rose-Hulman

Looks like Depauw is winning the second game 1-0 in the 4th and Sewanne is winning 2-0 in I dont know what inning because the play by play man for Sewanne is by far the worst announcer I have ever heard.

The East looks like it could be a very interesting race for the top three.

Due to storms in MEM last night the game was played this afternoon in Hendrix (thanks to Rhodes' flexibility)  TU beat Hendrix 13-1 in the opener and got Rhodes 6-4 in the makeup game...  Bignall went 8.1 for the win and Frey closed it...

Garner Wetzel posted a 3-4 effort with six RBI as the Majors rolled to a 10-1 victory over Southwestern on Sunday.  Wetzel's 7th inning grand slam was the big blow for Millsaps.  Tal Hendrix threw six and two-thirds innings of relief to earn the win.  With the victory, Millsaps improved to 23-8 overall and 13-4 in the SCAC.

Millsaps' remaining schedule is below...... Look to two BIG two-game series versus top ranked Emory and 23rd ranked LaGrange.  Last season, Millsaps lost 3 out of 4 games to LaGrange but swept Emory in a two-game series.  The Majors will play Emory as if the conference title were on the line.  This leads to possible pitching questions for for the Majors in the LaGrange series....not to mention a three-game series against a very good Rhodes squad to end the regular season.....WOW !!!

If nothing else, this schedule is as good as it gets for Millsaps heading into the SCAC tournament.

Actually, Millsaps is playing to consolidate a Pool C bid, if they don't win the tourney. ;)

I don't know if they can knock Emory from the top seed when the Regional Rankings come out next week.
