I'm all for sending a message but if its done correctly and you don't throw at someone's head. In the box score the player in question did have an HBP in game two...I'm assuming they did throw at him.

For anyone interested in the AC/UT-Tyler game, AC is testing out live stats on their website for the first time tonight.

Trinity's "comeback kids" did it again. Down 8-2 in the 7th scored 4 then 3 in the 8th to beat McMurray, 9-8. Great win, fun to watch and exciting for a bunch of young players. Oates gets the W, Bronson the save. Big hits from nearly everyone on the team.

My worst fear, and what I emailed my good friend Historymaker!

Not sufficient bullpen strength.

A set-up man and a closer isn't affected as dramatically by mid-week demands.  IN fact it may help the bullpen keep the rhythm.

AC picks up a huge win over UT-Tyler...8-7 victory, had to rally from down 7-6 in the bottom of the 10th.  Andy White got an RBI infield single with two outs after a crazy play tied things up after a throwing error when UTT appeared to have a runner picked off between second and third.

Excellent job by Trinity and Austin in their comeback wins.  Those wins trickle down to help all the SCAC teams, or at least the teams in the West.  Millsaps lost tonight to NAIA Belhaven 16-10.  Millsaps seemed more concerned with pitching by committee and getting the staff ready for this weekend, and Belhaven threw one of their top pitchers for almost 8 innings.  While I would have loved to see a Millsaps victory this evening, I now understand much better that NAIA opponents are just exhibition games in the eyes of the NCAA.  I'd rather lose tonight than against a D3 team.

Also, after having 2 SCAC Men's basketball teams finish in the D3 Top 10 (Millsaps at 6 and Centre at 9), we now have 3 SCAC teams in the baseball coaches poll with Millsaps and Rhodes tied at 23 and DePauw at 27.  Winning the SCAC AQ this season is going to be a tough task indeed.

Just a thought from a casual observer--it appears to me that DePauw is the favorite to win the East section of the SCAC this year.  Not only do they have a 1 game lead over Rhodes in early action, but they also are the host team this year in the match up between the two teams.

It seems fairly certain that DePauw and Rhodes will be the top 2 teams in the East, but the 2nd place team is going to get a really tough draw at the crossover tournament.  At the moment Millsaps is the 3rd team in the West and that would be a tough draw for anyone.  If Trinity or Austin fall to 3rd, it will be an equally tough draw.  Of course the flip side is that avoiding the 3rd spot in the West will be fairly important because playing either Rhodes or DePauw at the crossover is a tough draw for a 2 out of 3 series.

I agree that those two teams have the inside track...but don't sleep on OU. They just beat #5 Piedmont at Piedmont. The Petrels outhit Piedmont 17-7...and held on late for a 9-8 victory. They seem to be playing some good baseball and take on DePauw Thursday in a "Friendly"....I know DePauw will be saving their top pitchers for the weekend, but still should be a good one in Atlanta...Live stats and radio broadcast are available. Also, OU you will be honoring the women's final four basketball team before the game.

It should be a very competitive race the rest of the way.  Again, really looking forward to the AC/Trinity series.  All games will feature live stats on the AC website.  The win over UT-Tyler has to have given AC some confidence, and serves as a sort of response to the Trinity win over McMurry.  Both teams are coming in hot, so it should be a fun series.

Of course, here's hoping that AC can take 3 of 4...

What a nice mid-week by the SCAC in baseball.  Let's recap:

March 25th:

Trinity beats McMurry 9-8
Rhodes beats MS College 6-5
Hendrix beats #19 Ozarks 17-10
DePauw beats #11 Piedmont 7-5
Austin beats #5 Texas-Tyler 8-7
Centre does loses to Thomas More 10-3
Millsaps loses to NAIA Belhaven 16-10, a game that has no NCAA implications.

March 26th:

Rhodes beats Christian Brothers 16-6 (I believe CB is NAIA, but still a nice win)
Oglethorpe beats #11 Piedmont 9-8
DePauw does lose at #14 Emory 8-5

SCAC teams go 4-1 against Top-25 teams this week.  That's showing a lot more strength that what we had last season and these wins are good for all of the teams in the conference.  Excellent.

Christian Brothers is D2, Gulf South Conference.

Krakatoa

It would appear that the SCAC may single-handedly drum Piedmont right out of the Top 25. Good job, SCAC teams!

Can't wait for the TU/AU series!!  And TU/Millsaps after that!!  The SCAC is HOT!!
