Did anyone else look at St. John's (MN)?  They are the only team I could find that I was considering putting in my poll that only had 1 bad loss and some good wins.  They have 3 losses, one to a non-D3 school that is ranked in their respective affiliation (St. Cloud St. and that loss was in OT), other than that they have lost to Stevens Point (top 3 team), and their one bad loss was a conference game.  They have 2 wins over WIAC opponents and they have beaten a solid Augsburg club.  They are also #8 in the Massey ratings (and I love numbers).

My other outlier was Baruch, who's only loss coming into the week was at a holiday tournament to a decent team (they were 11-1).  Too bad they lost on Monday.

I looked at them and have them on my watch list. St Cloud does seem to be a decent team and they're D2 and the 2 wins over Oshkosh and Eau Claire were impressive. Thought I would wait to see how they did against the top teams in the conference as they beat most of the bottom dwellers. Tommies and Gusties next week will tell the story. What was your # 25 pick this week St. John Fisher or WPI?

Mr. Ypsi

Maybe it is just me, but between their history and their schedule, I think Baruch would have to get to about 18-0 before I seriously considered them.

St. John's is on my radar (faintly), but barely in the 30s, much less the 20s.  I'm not concerned about St. Cloud, and (on a given night) anyone could get blown out by UWSP, but losing by 11 to Carleton?!  They'll have to beat the Tommies, or have a LOT of other teams lose, before they get my vote.

Mine?  It was F&M.  I probably had the fewest northeast teams ranked of anyone (at least tied), I only had 4, I believe (the 3 NESCACs and MIT).  Didnt have Fisher either.  Other teams I had in the 20s were Wilmington, Maryville, William Paterson, and then other 3 teams already mentioned.

What about losing to Colby - Sawyer by 10?  Or losing to McDaniel by 9? Or MHB by 19?

I could probably come up with more examples, but all of those teams are ranked despite their losses to teams slightly better than .500.

Trivia:  Which Top 25 team is the only team to lose to two unranked D3 opponents by double figures, yet still remain in the polls?

I believe that would be Mississippi College. At least it was the 1st one that came to mind and when I checked their record it was so.

Those are the only 4 I had as well.

Nope, Mississippi College only lost by 9 to Concordia-Austin.  Brandeis lost by 10 to UMD and by 12 to NYU.

Yeah, I can't add. Saw 81-72 and my brain thought 82-71. But Mississippi College is darn close. And a 9 pt loss to Concordia-Austin and 19 pt loss to Mary Hardin-Baylor is 6 more pts than Brandeis combined 22 pts. :D ;D

So you already answered my next trivia question, which is what Top 25 team has lost to D3 unranked opponents by the most combined points?

magicman

Which Top 25 teams based on who they play this week have the best chance to drop out of the next poll? I can think of 5 possibilities, and 2 that probably will.

I was looking at three teams (beside St Thomas) from that conference.  I have GAC ahead of St. John's right now.

Yeah, not a bad call.  I had them really close.  GAC doesnt really have a bad loss, although I am not familiar with the two Hawaii teams they lost to.  I gave St. John's the nod because I felt they had a couple better wins at that point, but I could have easily inverted their positions.

Hawai'i Pacific is currently 11-3 and Hawai'i-Hilo is 9-4. Neither team is ranked in the current NABC Division II poll.
