Mr. Ypsi

We're now up to 8 ballots.  Some positions are pretty well locked up, but several spots (including #2) are VERY tight - your vote WILL make a difference!

I'm in. This was a difficult week with all of the losses. And then the losses by those who I picked to replace those with losses ???
Yeah, you look at Knightslappy's summary of the week before and it is ugly.

Everyone had a loss, and we are still too early in the season to discern a tough loss to a good opponent from an out-right mess-up!

I cannot fill that middle range.  For me, it is the group between about #8-9 and #30.

Anderson only beat Howard Payne by the 14 points that was about the same margin that HPU was losing on the road in the ASC-East.  Looking at the Anderson Box Score, they played their starters 31, 31, 32, 33 and 34 minutes.  They led by 12 at the half and finaly stretched that to 21 with 3:34 left in the game, but that is not very much depth compared to the style of play in the ASC where most teams are giving double-digit minutes to 8-10 players.  Plus, HPU was the second game of a long road trip to Indiana, a kind of "Hoosiers" trip with a side trip to Butler U.

Except for the ODAC 'Big Four'.  With the exception of EMU's loss to a non-d3 team, they are undefeated except against each other.  Unless late ballots change things drastically, they will not only be the first conference in PP history to have 4 of the top 10, they will have 4 of the top 9! :o

It's been debated whether or not the ODAC has become a 'power conference' or is just on the fringes, but for this year at least I'm not sure any conference has ever had the power at the top that they do (and their next few are not that bad).

Stevens Point #1 as expected. ODAC gets #2 Guilford #3 Randy-Macon, #7 Eastern Mennonite and #12 Virginia Wesleyan. I guess the voters just couldn't move the Royals from 18th place all the way up ahead of Randy-Macon despite their impressive win over the Yellow Jackets last Wednesday. I had Eastern Mennonite in 9th place last week so it was easy for me to put them in the 3rd spot this week, right below the Pointers and Guilford. I put Randoph-Macon in 5th and Virginia Wesleyan in 11th.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the ODAC, WIAC & NESCAC as their conference games play out.  Those three conferences take up 7 of the 10 top spots!  Someone is either going to standout and take control or they are going to all hand eachother another loss or two.  Unless the games are blowouts or they rack up more than 1 more loss it would be tough to mess with their rankings that much.
A team that could really benefit from the 7 teams getting a loss or two in conference action is MIT.  Other than WPoly, I don't see many teams taking them down.

Ten ballots in, and under an hour 'til the normal deadline.  Any more in the pipeline?

(I'm always willing to delay an hour or two if a potential voter lets me know they need the time.)

I added last week's poll in bold. Brandeis came into WU and beat them earning my vote this week, but 2 voters this week didn't think much of that feat. St. Norbert 6th on one ballot ??? Wilmington nearly disappeared after two losses.

I assume "Wilma" is Wilmington?

That game didn't earn Brandeis anything in my book, it really just cost WashU some respect.

Did someone forget Wheaton has 5 losses?  With 4 of them to unranked opponents?

Thanks frodo!  +1!  :)

Wow!  We are up to 10 participants.

I dropped them several places after the loss to North Park.  I won't really be able to judge them well until they play IWU tomorrow.  They probably benefited from name and conference recognition a little bit.

I'm not sure they deserve to be at #15 (I'm almost positive they don't) I just couldn't make a case for the teams below them to jump them just yet.
