Guys, this is the 7th year of the PP, but if interest doesn't ramp up, it may be the last for me (as compiler).  I'm gonna start typing now (I'll re-start if anyone sends another ballot, or even the promise of another ballot), but another week of 12 (with 2 newbies, but 2 no-shows, and MANY no-shows from previous times) is discouraging.

I only had five true outliers this time.  I was the high water mark for Wesleyan (which served me well after the win over Amherst this evening) and Transylvania, as well as Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Good call on Wesleyan - they were my #26 or #27.

I was wondering if Va Wes, Emory, and Birmingham-Southern are all lagging behind the d3 poll because I can't get any southern voters (except Ralph), but then realized that I now have NO west coast voters, and Whitworth and CMS are both AHEAD of the d3 poll.  In my best Emily Litella: Never mind. ;D

Birmingham Southern's weak schedule keep them out for me.  Cabrini and F&M received the same fate.

I really think Wooster is a top 25 team, but their losses forced my hand and I had to leave them out.  Same with Augustana, but I'm not sure Augie is a top 25 team anymore without their big man.

The only ranked team I seem to be way off on is Amherst, I believe I was the #20 voter, if not I was one of the #17's.

Birmingham Southern has just played no one and not all of the games have been blow outs.  They lost to Centre, who, while not a bad team, isn't exactly a world beater.  In my book you have to have at least one signature win to move up the rankings - or an average MOV of 25+ against the scrubs.

My Top 25 looks closer to the official Top 25 than the Poster's Poll balloteers.

I will stand by my ballot for the second week.   ;)

You were one of the 17s.  After their loss tonite to Wesleyan, you're lookin' good!  (Though I'd say more 10 or 11, and I wish I'd put Wesleyan in my top 25!)

(I didn't have Woo in my top 25; I did have Augie (barely) but that may not last.)

Dunno if it'll help much, but I'll be back on board starting next week.

Yes, that will help.

And due to the poor 'attendance' this year, I am deep-sixing my previous policy (no new voters after week 2, to assure some stability in rankings).  This year new voters are welcome thru AT LEAST week 4 - come one, come all!

Sorry if I'm sounding desperate, but, hey, I'm desperate!  The PP is floundering, and I would hate to see it die. :P

25 seems arbitrary, especially since reasonable coaches would call off the dogs at some point. Pounding teams into submission doesn't make them look better - that's why reasonable power rankings have diminishing returns. They're winning by an average of 16.

I said 25 to be accurate mathematically.  I usually look for most of the wins to be by 30.  It's really the only way you can tell much about teams playing inferior competition at this point of the year.  It's true that most teams call off the dogs early, which is why large margins of victory often indicate a strong bench.

See, I disagree. I don't think you can say much about a 20-point win vs. a 30-point win. And if they go deep into the bench, or play a lot of JV players, it may not mean much at all.
