My message box was distressingly empty this morning.  We're stuck on SIX ballots, with only a few hours to go.  I'll expect an overflowing message inbox upon my return from bowling!

NOTE: our final regular-season poll is next week.  Then, just like the real poll, we'll be off until a final poll after Salem.

You can't rush excellence Mr. Y. ;)

Received one while I was out, so up to 7.

Good news for seekers of excellence ;) (or simply procrastinators) - Mrs. Y has just announced that I am taking her out to dinner, so release of the poll will be delayed!  Hope to have it by 10 or 11.

(No one lacking a death wish argues with Mrs. Y. 8-))

Mr. Y  Honey, what did you make for dinner tonight?

Mrs. Y  RESERVATIONS, now get off that stupid computer and get changed.

Aah, so you've met Mrs. Y! ;D

Though, actually, the place she has picked for the evening is a nearby bar, but with nationally recognized burgers (and who takes their motto from Benjamin Franklin: "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy").  They don't take reservations, I don't need to change, and we won't go until about the time I would otherwise post, so I don't need to get off here yet.  (But you DO have the routine learned well! 8-))

I've been on the road all day long. Just back in town but have the SUNYAC tournament to deal with. I'll try and egt one in at halftime.

Mr. Ypsi

I'm back now, and sac, hugenerd, and magicman makes ten; I'll begin typing in about 20 minutes if no one else requests extra time.  Meanwhile I'll catch up on what I've missed on other boards!

Mr. Ypsi

A disappointing ten ballots, but I think a defensible poll (though more orphans than I can shake a stick at - the bottom of the top 25 is WIDE open ;)):

Mr. Ypsi

Obviously, neither this poll nor the real poll could take into account tonite's game, but Wheaton smacked down Augie by THIRTY points.  Despite Augie's initial #2 national ranking, and #1 in the CCIW preseason coaches' poll, for several weeks now majority opinion in the conference is that Augie is only FOURTH in the CCIW.  Whether Wheaton or NCC is #1 is a matter of dispute.

sac

I knew this would be a tough poll.  My data has about 20 to 30 teams within a pretty small margin of each other after a pretty rock solid and season long steady top 8 or 10.  Its just a pretty big messy pile of teams to sort through.

Some full disclosure.....I'm your no voter on Cabrini, Wm. Patterson, F&M, Birmingham So., Transylvania, Oswego and Albertus Magnus.   Strength of schedule is the culprit, all are just outside that rankable range for me, even if they did make my poll it would only make a couple points difference in either direction.  Transylvania was actually my last one out so to speak.

I'm pretty high on all 4 CCIW schools, but I found no justification for ranking Augustana this week.  I'm the high voter on all 3 CCIW's in the poll Wheaton.  These four teams are pretty strong when compared to the rest of D3.

High voter on Wittenberg.  Won the NCAC and the 3 or 4 times I've been able to watch them they did enough to convince me they're pretty good.

Ultimately at the bottom of my poll I took a couple flyers, 1 or 2 in retrospect I probably shouldn't have.

At least in how I'm doing things I'm seeing a strong representation from the West, Midwest and Great Lakes.  History has also shown this to be the case, so it doesn't bother me.

I'm sure people are wondering, but I have Hope #3  :)

I believe the most teams we've had on every ballot in a single week is just 10 teams and I think 46 receiving votes is a new high this season. With so many teams fairly close together in the 15-45 range, Selection Monday (we need a new alliterative name for it... how about... Moratorium Monday? Make it or break it Monday?) should be interesting.

I'm rather surprised at how well my ballot has begun to match the overall poll... I had 22 of the top 24 on my ballot (I didn't have Witt and WashU, while not in the top 25 but on my ballot were Staten Island, Medaille, and Grinnell). My only major outliers are that I have CMS up at 2, VaWes down at 12, and Staten Island up at 18.

FYI: With all the distractions of tournament brackets (and knowing that a number of voters will also be concentrating on the Fantasy draft), I'm not even going to attempt to get a poll out before Wednesday evening.  Hopefully that extra time will give EVERYONE a chance to submit a ballot sometime between Sunday and Wednesday!

Mr. Ypsi

Oh, and don't get overly distracted by the brackets as you make out your ballot.  Pretty much every year at least 1 or 2 (deservedly, IMO) top 25 teams don't get selected.  Tournament selection and top 25 voting are two very different things! ::)

I'm working now, but if its not done in the next hour, it may not come until Wednesday.

I got it done.  I had very few unexpected losses in my poll.  I put Amherst #1 for the first time this year.  They looked really strong today.

Yeah, almost midnight (EST), and still no Darryl!  Maybe the +k was premature (though I still owe him from a past post).  I did the PP for several years pre-Darryl, but have gotten so spoiled that I'm not sure I'd even do it anymore if he (or a successor) didn't do the updates!  I recall so many weeks that I realized too late that I had overlooked key results that would have altered my ballot.  Now (since he includes everyone that received ANY votes in the d3hoops.com poll) it is practically "one-stop shopping" - only occasionally do I check on a team that wasn't listed.

magicman

I too kept waiting for Darryl, but with my travel plans tomorrow I couldn't wait any longer or you wouldn't be getting a poll from me. And I didn't want to spoil my perfect attendance record. So in the wee hours I've sent mine in. I should have been working on my selections for the Fantasy draft that I need to send you later on.
