The added strength to their schedule of playing E. Conn St and Middlebury will obviously help them.  By my estimates those two games will move their SOS on massey approximately 50+ places.  Using my handy formulatm that would move them inside the top 20.  How much I don't know because I won't update everything until next week, probably.

They'll no doubt get another boost to the SOS this weekend by playing IWU......and of course again by playing UWW or MIT if they should.

On the flipside, I think I've been all over MIT this year, and I've had to dumb down my ratings for the CCIW teams all year because they wouldn't make sense if I rated them in the poll where they rate on my chart.  But there they are.....winning.

They didn't play Midd, Scranton beat Midd in the round earlier.  Cabrini beat East Conn and Scranton this weekend.

of course, meant Scranton....it still helps them just less than Middlebury would have.

I figured that much, that's why I pointed it out.

Just curious, when you say 'I've been all over MIT' this year', does that mean you had them highly ranked all year, or am I misinterpreting that comment?

MIT has come up #1 on my worksheet every week but 1.  I had voted them #1 every week but one, the one week I didn't they were #2.  I just went with it.

The one poll Mr. Y has published with their highest vote being #3 I didn't participate in.

Generally I never reveal voters' ballots until after they do, but since he already did, just to clarify: aside from one week where he had UWW #1 and MIT #2, he has placed MIT #1 all season (even when most of us were voting his Hope team #1 ;)).

Hugenerd

Thanks for the clarification.  I participated a few times this year also, and I also had them #1 on those occasions (so I'm guessing the weeks they had two #1 votes, it was you and I). I wonder who the only person to vote them #1 in the d3hoops.com poll is?  He has got to feel pretty good about himself, as they are the highest seed remaining.

While we're at it, what I meant by dumbing down the CCIW ratings......all year Augustana pops into the top 5 on my worksheet, once they lost Scarlatta it was pretty obvious they weren't that same strong team, and I never voted for them in the poll(I think).  But surprisingly, they just didn't fall down the worksheet much and stayed right near the top even in the final week they would have probably been top 10.....but I didn't calculate them.

IWU was frequently in my top 15 and only a couple weeks out of the top 25, though I didn't vote them that way.  Wheaton was frequently in my top 10, though I didn't vote them that way either.  There were times I just felt I had to move the CCIW teams down or out because of their overall records vs others in the polls.

Since we're nearing the final poll... will the tournament winner automatically be #1?

Personally I doubt I'll have IWU at the top if they win it all (they weren't even on my ballot entering the tourney). MIT and Cabrini would almost definitely be #1 (since they were #2 and 3 before the tourney on my ballot) and UWW would probably be up there close (I had them #11 entering).

I go back and redo the rankings from the beginning, meaning I don't necessarily take the tournament into consideration beyond the strength of opponent and the location/pressure.  So winning the tournament doesn't automatically mean you're #1 in my book, but the opponents and wins provided by a tournament victory sure help to improve the resume.

This year, I'm almost positive MIT, WW, and IWU would be #1 if they won.  Cabrini is a tough sell.  I've seen them in person and they're definitely top 15 material, they just haven't had to beat many top teams.  I'm not sure those two games in Salem would give them enough for me to believe they're #1.  I'm not sure Cabrini is better than any of the four teams I saw in Lancaster this weekend.  They're more disciplined than CSI, but I think they're very similar teams.

Mine is in.

Thanks Mr Ypsi for running the Poll.

Mr. Ypsi

Four ballots in already, and tabulated.  No specific deadline this week - I'll post when it appears that I've gotten all the ballots I'm going to get!  So if you wish to participate but cannot do a ballot before, say, Tuesday afternoon, be sure to let me know and I'll hold off.

Mr. Ypsi

Seven ballots are in.  I'd really prefer at least ten, but the final ballot is always our lowest turnout.  Any more ballots coming if I hold off?
