23 of 25 for myself, I had no Lincoln or Calvin (mwahahaha)  ;D

Howard Payne moved up my ones to watch list for sure, along with Baruch (suspect sched imo), Just couldn't find enough space for Ohio Northern who's my #26.  It was also really tough to keep another UW school off my list but all my candidates lost........again.

I'm  struck by the wide range in voting for Albion and North Central and Amherst.

We need more voters.

For those wanting to keep a 'watch-list', we had 5 who received no votes on d3hoops: UWSP, Tufts, Coe, Cortland, and Hamilton.

Coe (for the first time in poll history) and Cortland St. both received votes in the D3hoops.com top 25 poll.  In fact, Coe received 26 votes, good enough for would-be 28th place.  Cortland got 5 votes.

Mr. Ypsi

Totally agree on the 'more voters' - don't know what happened to Greg or knightstalker (and, for services rendered - though you pooped out this week! - witt4ever is still invited to join).

Well, we got a third MIAA team in DESPITE the MIAA voter!  I realize it goes against the grain to vote for Calvin, but, hey, I celebrated Millikin's national title for the women last year!

David,

Thanks for the catch!  (Damned slanted writing!)  It was Fisk and Widener (not Coe and Cortland) who were on the PP ORV but got no votes on d3hoops.

The original post (#299) has been corrected.

Just didn't see a way to squeeze them in Mr Y.  They're on my radar.  Hopefully a loss this week won't mean I  have any tough decisions to make.

Ralph,

I actually put Howard Payne on my watch list last week.  I am impressed by their long win streak.  The one thing that kept me from voting for them was the lack of what I would consider a "signature win".  Because of that, I put WPI at 25. Even though their schedule doesn't impress me at all, at 19 and 1 I feel they deserve some respect.

Greek Tragedy

I had 23 of the 26 with Elmhurst (24th) and NYU (25th)dropping out of my poll from last week.  I didn't vote for Lincoln either.  I didn't have Whitewater in my poll or in last week's poll.  I had Ohio Northern 24th and Calvin 25th this week.

I'm the guilty one that voted for Randolph-Macon.  They were 17th in my poll last week and they lost to Virginia Wes., who were ranked, so I couldn't drop them all the way out of my poll.  Sorry guys!

Even as a Point fan, I'm surprised someone voted them in with SEVEN losses!

No need to apologize - how are we to replace those who drop out if posters don't remind us who ought to be on the watch-list!

I never rat out voters - if you want to know who voted for UWSP, you'll have to hear it from your fellow WIAC voter.

OOPS!! ;) ;D  (Actually, I had them in my top 30, just not QUITE top 25.  Seven losses in the WIAC is NOT like 7 losses most places!)

And, afterall, Elmhurst now has seven losses, but there were THREE of us who put them on the ballot (and they finished 26th on the d3hoops poll).

I know I don't need to apologize!  Those three conference losses at Whitewater, at Oshkosh and at home to Platteville don't bother me (well, maybe the latter one a little bit).  It's those THREE nonconference losses to Edgewood, Clarke and maybe Mid-America Nazerene that really eat under my skin!  >:(  The Lakeland loss doesn't bother me at all.

My reasoning for voting for them is based partially on how they played on Saturday... and because they're only a half game out of the conference title.  Even in a down year, I think the top WIAC teams are in the 20-30 range, minimum, and Point is only a 1/2 game out right now.  Like I said on the WIAC page, Point holds their destiny in their own hands, as they play Whitewater Wednesday, and Stout on Saturday.  It doesn't get much easier, as they have to go to Platteville next Wednesday, but if they can force their conference foes to play catch-up, then they will have an advantage, and some room for error.

I'm also basing this off the fact that the young guys are not nearly as unexperienced as they were... The Point team we're seeing now is better than the one that lost to Whitewater, Clarke, Nazerene, etc.  Is this a National Championship team?  I seriously doubt it... but this team does have the potential to get hot (or stay hot?) and make a run at the NCAA's for a fourth straight year.

Perhaps I've viewing the world through purple glasses... but this team does a lot of things the right way, and they have a shot to make a good season a little better.  And I think they've shown their potential for playing well in big games, as pretty much all the WIAC games are big ones.

Well I went 25-25 this week, after suffering through the difficult job of voting for Calvin  :)

I do think the Knights have proven themselves to be an up and coming team with a pretty impressive group of freshman.   A loss to Hope this week won't necessarily knock them out either.

Titanfan, I think that you were prudent to leave them off this week.  As for a body of voters, I don't think that they deserve to be a consensus Top 25 pick, this week.

If they don't sweep the week, then they fall back on my ballot, until we can see some more progress, namely winning the ASC-Tourney.

I only put them in at #24, because I am very suspect of Wartburg, my #25.

From my perspective, the streak is the "signature" win.  HPU defeated a good D2 Texas A&M-Commerce (12-9) in the opening game.  Their 3 losses are understandable, at Trinity in game #2 after reportedly being stuck in traffic an extra hour getting to the Trinity gym, and at Miss College and LaCollege on that 1200-mile tough eastern road trip.

Do we know what happened to Wartburg?  They were unquestionably playing much, much better a few weeks ago than they are now?  Anyone in or near Iowa hear anything?

Although, I am now realizing that a lot of the variance in our poll is due to my voting patterns (I'm responsible for 9 teams' "highest votes" and 9 of the top 25's "lowest votes").

I think you all know my #1 team, but in an effort to keep some sort of voting privacy, I'll let you know my 26-30, to contribute to the "watch list."

From the time I left work friday until sometime yesterday morning I was unable to even get near a computer.  The only down time I had all weekend was watching the Super Bowl at a friends house.  By the time I was able to start figuring out my poll it was too late to submit.

Speaking of teams to watch:  I would keep an eye on Claremont College from the SCIAC.  They are quickly becoming the best team in the conference that includes the PP #17 Occidental.
