I know the NCAA committee will not care, but to be fair to NYU, they played this weekend without their best player and UAA MVP candidate Jason Boone.  He is top 5 in the league in scoring and rebounding, not to mention the presence he brings to the lane.  In my opinion, they probably would have won both those close games with him but thats how it goes with injuries.

Injuries are a part of the game, as unfortunate as it is.

But that being said, NYU did not have him and did lose.  And that's all that really matters.

Would the NCAA want an NYU team that is playing w/o their best player in the tourney anyway?

Which is too bad, because they've had a great season up till now.

That's too bad - I didn't know that. I just saw the scores.

Other poll notes:

(#24 Wartburg is in the top 25 pretty much due to a single voter - in such a small poll, your vote DOES count!)

Uh?  In the poll you say there were 4 voters with a high of 13.  I had them 23rd, dropping 10 spots.

I dont' think anyone has time to go through every game story to find out what team's stars played and who's didn't.

Hey, it wasn't me voting for UW-LaCrosse this time!

I did it.  It seems like they deserved it; I don't know those last few spots were toss-ups.

Well, with such a small pool of votes, something like a outlier 13th can vault someone over other teams easily.

I love the range on Carroll (3-23) that's just nuts.  I probably should be putting Lincoln higher, as I expect them to cruise to at least the elite eight, but I'm not convinced they belong in the class with those Midwest schools just yet.  I'm a hard sell.

What can we do for you to get into this Lincoln??

I know I had Lincoln moving up even though they were inactive.  Teams ahead of them dropped a lot for me, and I couldn't see jumping teams that I think they would beat over them.

Thanks for responding for me, smed - I've FINALLY logged on for the first time today (and seeking to avoid the 50-some stat exams waiting to be graded)!

If you check the Wartburg vote totals, they received 13 points from one voter, and a total of 12 points from the other eleven!  Since they only beat #26 Trinity(TX) by 4 points....

dblock

not only has nyu now lost Jason Boone, dont forget they lost Daniel Falcon early against CMU. Falcon was averging around 13 and 15. Add that to Jason Boone's post dominance, and NYU would not have lost half the games they lost. Regardless, the UAA is an all around strong divison and every team in the division is real good.

What ever happened to Falcon..., and 15 boards is a huge exaggeration, he only averaged 6 per game in conference and 9 per game overall; also, he avergaed 7 ppg in conference and 12 ppg overall.  He is a good player but not a 13 and 15 guy in the UAA by any stretch.

Thanks for your suport for Lincoln moving up in the polls.  I don't think it will take take much for Hoops Fan to come over to the Lions Den  :)

I've been on the bandwagon, but up until this week, I've had very little reason to put any team from the Eastern half of the d3 world up that high.  I might be rethinking things now.
