Wouldn't it be a quarter... being 25 teams and all?

Mine is away as well.

Yours also received - but about that quarter?!

When's the deadline?

Tuesday, 7pm.

Since my deadline is so much later (but covers the same set of games), I'm much more worried about voters being influenced by the lastest d3hoops.com poll than being influenced by voters posting their ballots!

Since we have no intention of competing with Pat's poll anyway, what would people say to changing the dates - for example, games through Thursday, ballots due Saturday, 8pm??  (Or through Wednesday, ballots due Friday, 8pm??)  Either way, most weeks I should get results out by LATE the same night, or late afternoon the next day.

For THIS (coming) week, no change from the posted rules, but thoughts?

[I'll monitor the ballots I receive from now on vs. the ballots I've already received.]

Pat Coleman

Wouldn't that engender confusion between people trying to determine what set of games is included?

Monday at 8 should cover you most weeks from D3hoops poll contamination. :)

You hear that voters?!  After this week (i.e., tomorrow!) ballots are required by 8pm Monday!  We'll keep the Sunday cut-off on games, but shorten the submission time.  And, in case the d3hoops.com poll DOES come out miraculously early, ignore that man behind the screen!  No, no, Toto! ;)

Ralph Turner

I like your counting the Sunday games and having the Monday 8pm (EST) deadline for voting.

Having it mirror the same period as the Official Poll will make for more consistent evaluation.

Thanks for your work, Mr Ypsi! :)

My goodness, hadn't you already figured that out!!  ;D

[Perhaps in the future you won't just drive by my town without saying hello!  ;)]

But, the heck with it, VOTE!  (You can even try Chicago rules [vote early, and vote often], but I'll be checking!)

Greek Tragedy

I agree...had I decided to run it, I would've had Sunday's games included and the deadline on Monday, even though I wouldn't post the results until AFTER Pat's poll came out.

Seriously though, you know how seriously I take d3basketball... I don't have time to do it.  :-X

I want to know who the loser is who will start analyzing the poster's poll vs the actual poll at the end of the year to see which was more accurate.  I'm not suggesting criteria or commenting on anything, just predicting one of us will do it to keep busy this summer.

Haven't received it yet, and time's running low!  (I forgot to specify 7 EST; since there are so many CST posters, I won't tabulate 'til 8).

Only nine ballots so far - c'mon people!

#58
And the results of our first Poster's Poll!  (Votes reflect the scoring system of HoFers' tripled, Starter and above doubled, all others straight; first place votes, in parenthese, are number of voters, regardless of status):

1. Wittenberg, 441 (3)
2. Hope, 438 (3)
3. Wooster, 437
4. IWU, 436 (2)
5. Albion, 418 (1)
6. Lawrence, 377
7. Amherst, 331
8. Puget Sound, 326
9. Augustana, 317
10. York, 306
11. NCC, 284
12. Hampden-Sidney, 270
13. Baldwin-Wallace, 206
14. Carnegie-Mellon, 201
15. WPI, 194
16. Wilmington, 179
17. Randolph-Macon, 152
18. UW-Stout, 141
19. Bluffton, 140
20. Wartburg, 100
21. Mississippi College, 98
22. UW-Whitewater, 90
23. St. John Fisher, 57
24. UW-LaCrosse, 48
25. NYU, 38

Others receiving votes: Transylvania, 27; Occidental, 26; Widener, 22; Lincoln and Ohio Northern, each 16; Hanover, 8; Carroll, Catholic, and Rochester, each 6; Tufts and UWSP, each 4; Calvin, 2; WashU, 1.

[I'm wondering if Wilmington was a victim of 'coming out of nowhere' - they were completely absent from two ballots (oversight or deliberate?).  If they had been ranked on those ballots at the average of the other 7, they would have placed 13th.]

The top 4 could hardly have been tighter (and Albion wasn't far behind)!  I get the feeling that (at long as they don't LOSE!) what Witt, Woo and IWU do this week is almost irrelevant.  If Hope beats Albion tomorrow I imagine they'll move to #1; if Albion wins, I certainly would not be at all surprised if they jumped to #1.

Thanks to those who voted, and I hope next week's poll will have twice the voters!  (No new voters allowed after next week, so as to maintain continuity.)

p.s., if anyone who has mastered tables wants to clean this up, feel free!  (And, if you are willing, I could email the tabulations to you so you can do it right on the first post! ;D)
